NECRO!

Just got a new mod that I love. SpamSentry.

It blocks all that "We Sell Gold" spam tells you get, giving you one line of text that has a link to show the gold spam and a link to send a report to Blizzard, with all the text you need already filled in. Just hit send report and you are done. It's fucking awesome.

Yeah it's great.  I just wish you could report more than 4 folks at a time.  I got 34 spams last night in about 2 hours.  At an average of 30 mins per response before you can send the next, it'll take me a while to get through all of them.  Yeah, I can clear it or not report 'em but I dislike that as a solution.

Changed to Whisper Blocker myself, it doesn't have quite as many features, but then again the auto-reporting feature is causing a stir with the hard working GM's and will probably be removed soon.

not sure if that will REALLY fix much (removing the auto report feature) since i believe they mention in one of the recent patch notes updates that they are adding the ability to "Right click - report to gm" on character names in chat.

Since this has so helpfully been necro'd I'll post up my mods. :P I like to have my interface as clean as possible, using the default UI whenever I can. Archaeologist to put the health/mana on the unit frames of myself, party, and target (default does yourself only, fuck that). FocusFrame to have a unit frame of my focus, complete with its target and spellbar, which is invaluable for arenas. CT_MailMod because I sometimes want to mail mass emails to one person and doing it one at a time sucks balls. ItemRack for switching gearsets. RatingBuster so that I know what "12 crit rating" actually means. QuestLevel to see the level of quests. Lastly Bagnon to be able to see my bank, my other character's banks, and their inventories anywhere anytime (I turn off the all-in-one-bag they also put in with this).

WUU! Wuu is great. Like the Ace updater, but will also update addons from WoWInterface and Curse-Gaming. Used to also work with ui.worldofwar.net but they were dicks and cut the app off because they were losing ad views for their own (buggy as hell) updater. Wuu also lets you update your own addon list for, well, threads like this. I'll pop mine up when I get home. I don't think I added any cool ones (other than SpamSentry, which is about to be obsolete tomorrow anyway) since the thread was last animated shamblingly.

I definitely need to add RatingBuster to my list, my warlock twink has a bunch of damage and crit gear that I only have a vague understanding of its utility.

So you are guessing that the patch is out tomorrow? God, I hope so. The gold spams are killing Baby Jesus one crappy tell at a time.

Yeah, that'd be my guess, considering the pre-patching. If it's not, just install SpamSentry, it's nuked all my goldfarmer spam.

I keep hearing how the patch is going to make SS obsolete, but I have no idea why that's being tossed around.  Account level ignores?  Not going to help me, as I said I got about 34 spam, but they were from different people.  Same spam, sure, but I suspect different accounts.  Hell they're stealing e-mail addys from places to use for trial accounts now.  I wound-up with 3 e-mails in my different spam accounts that I use to sign-up for guild boards.  All of them were suspension of account notices from Blizzard for violating the TOS w/ gold spam.

They won't be deterred.

But noooo, trial accounts aren't the problem. Blizzard told me so. Right? RIGHT?

not so much that it is going to make it obsolete, but rather that they are adding the functionality to "right click -> report to GM" on any name in your chat window (same way you can "right click - invite") which is basicly the most desired functionality of Spam Sentry type mods (the ability to quickly report someone).

No, the patch is literally going to obsolete SpamSentry in its current form, because the UI will be blocked from automatically generating a CS report.

I just have to confirm that the WUU is wonderful.  Had never heard of it before.  It just made updating to the latest patch SOOOOO much easier.

Thanks, Lum.

Played for 4 hours last night and didn't get a single gold spam. New patch seems to have worked wonders.

hi guys,

I haven't played the game for a long while - long enough for me to have to completely reinstall etc., so I neither have my old addons, nor do I remember their names, so i figured i'd start from scratch again. Most of the addons should be easy to replace, but i haven't seemed to find anything I liked with regards to item tooltips etc.

so, can anyone recommend an addon that dispays stuff in the item tooltip, about which plans, recipes (even quests?) etc. an item was a component in etc. I think the one I used to use was called KC Items, but it appears to be outdated.

I havent played in a while but I used to use Reagent Watch, which tracked what recipe an item was for, even across your alts.

I found that functionality in the EnhTooltip component of Auctioneer.  I tried Atlas Loot for a bit but I didn't like it.  If I want to read an entire page about something I'll alt-tab to Wowhead or something.

Witty banter not included.

Since KC_Items was sort of an omnibus, I'd recommend the Auctioneer suite as a whole.

If you're looking for things more in regards to "does my alt have a pattern that uses that?" TradeSkillInfo gets close to Reagent Watch's old functionality. It can tell if characters need an item (like Used By: Me (15), Alt1 (2)), but doesn't say what the actual recipes are. If you care about the alt thing, grab both, along with CharacterInfo (made by the author of TradeSkillInfo) and you should be golden.

The collection I use, if anyone has more/better mods, suggest away.

X-Perl Unit Frames (best. unit frames. ever.)
Alphamap + AtlasLoot
Gatherer Mod (I may ditch this and Alphamap for Cartographer since Gatherer's icons are refusing to show up on my maps right)
ClearFont2 (readable fonts, yay!)
CooldownCount
Combat Caller (automatically does your low MP/HP emotes)
BigWigs + LittleWigs (nice timers/warnings for raid and 5-man boss abilities)
Rating Buster (Pure awesome)
Khaos (Cosmos sucks, but Khaos is nice for enabling/disabling mods without logging)

That addon utterly rocks, especially combined with the others the fellow recommends. Thanks Lum!

Is there an updated mod for hunter aspects and tracking? I was using the FU one, but I don't think that one is updated yet.

Thanks

Dunno 'bout the aspects - but Gazmik's "TrackMenu" http://fizzwidget.com/trackmenu/ will handle the tracking changes. It's a little sensitive up there if you're looking to click somewhere else, but very nice.
