I really didn't think my team was that good (and I still don't). I have the two top point producing players (McNabb and Gore, LOL) and Baltimore's D which is the top overall. This can't last.
My point output SHOULD dip next game as the matchups just aren't that great. I shoud win, but saying that.. I'll manage to post 3 goose eggs and lose. Not to mention Monkey could get Steve Smith back this week. That team does have decent scoring potential.
Well, at least the start to this year is better for me than last.. LJ's miracle 9 game run couldn't even save my pathetic team after my squad of underachievers dropped game after game. I really still blame Mike Martz and Daunte for last year

I needed Heath Miller to pick up ten points last night to pull out the win, but I don't think the entire Steelers offense put up ten fantasy points. Fuckers.

The Steelers' offense looked mostly terrible. Rothliesberger probably shouldn't have played, what with a 104 degree temperature and fresh staples in his stomach. It was a "gutty" performance, but really probably shouldn't have been attempted. Batch isn't great, but he wouldn't have done any worse. The real culprit was the running game, which never got off the ground, and the dropped passes. I'm so glad I tossed Santonio Holmes early on.

Yeah I got screwed by the fact Pittsburgh couldn't put a FREAKING POINT on the board against Jacksonville. Also, my TE is totally worthless. However, Buffalo's D is nothing to laugh at, and Eli showed major balls in the Philly game. Once I get Steve Smith back and find out a way to not have Parker suck ass, I'll be in good shape. |

Yeah, I needed Pittsburg to kick a bunch of field goals, or Jacksonville to put up a lot of points. I got neither, so I lost. I had a REAL chance this week too.

I watched most of that Bucs game, though I fell asleep through the 2nd quarter. That must have been when Simmss took that pounding, because I didn't see it in the parts I watched. I did see him double over and that's got to win the guy a whole shitload of toughcred, to have played with a ruptured spleen.
Fuck Tom Coughlin for benching Plaxico. I know Plax wasn't having a good day, but 2 of those INT's from Eli were ALL ELI. And the fact that their defense couldn't stop a high school team did no good to the offense. Holy shit, they looked bad. AWFUL bad.
As for Peyton, he looked good, despite it seeming like Dungy did not want to win the game early. It was obvious that the Jags were going to run the shit out of the ball, and Dungy should have been playing 8 or 9 in the box from the get go. Leftwich is decent, but his receivers are very shaky at times. Make that group beat you. But instead, he lets Taylor and Drew run all over the D until the 3rd quarter. And he never tried to get a running game going. He really needs to start Addai and just make him the new Edge. Addai has most of the skills needed, and Rhodes is past the point where he can carry a running game himself. Against a team with a better offense to go along with that level of defense, like say San Diego or Seattle, that could have been a big loss.

Tailgated for a few hours beforehand, screamed myself hoarse, caught the bus home, got a burrito for dinner, and was asleep by halftime of the Sunday night game. Seattle was an awesome place to watch a football game.
Unfortunately when I went, the Bills pasted them and got up pretty early so the crowd wasn't in it. I'd love to head back down there to watch another game.
Ticket prices were really reasonable too imo.

Looks like I'll be escaping this week with a win unless Horn manages a statistical impossibility. Like I predicted, 3 of my guys seriously underperformed. Daunte Culpepper continues to haunt my team from beyond the fantasy grave. If I had listened to the pundits (hey, I go on gut), I would have thrown up another 20+ points (Winslow and Green for Gore and McMichael). But hell, I figured Gore's done me good so far and Culpepper is bound to notice at some time that he's got a viable tight end.
Once again, McNabb and Baltimore D kicked some serious ass. I never realized what a damn juggernaut Boldin could be. Guy just runs through tackles. Helped that Fitzgerald had a minor case of the dropsies.
Got to love how the announcing crew in the Steelers/Bengals game kept commmenting on how the Bengals were running on first and second downs like clockwork. Then late in the game when the Steelers were bringing people up Palmer was torching them with the play action pass. Palmer has so many damn weapons in Cinci. That is the best set of WRs in the game right now and Rudi aint too shabby either.

Yeah, some of the commentators really are shitmittens. Most teams run to set up the pass, and most of the announcers should know that. Hell, that's what the Steelers were doing against the Jags last Monday night. It just happened that the Steelers couldn't complete a good pass to save their ass even when the D was reading run. That's why I was getting pissed that the Colts never tried to establish their run game early. Any other team, and they'd have gotten their asses beaten, but the Colts can live on pass (except in the playoffs). |

My #1 draft is my #6 point generator. This continues to be my problem. Chambers - with an ass-eating Culpepper throwing to him - has more points than Shaun right now.
My breakdown is pretty odd and disturbing also. #1 is #4 #2 is #5 #3 is just had his first start this week and didn't do much. #4 is #2 #5 is isn't even my top kicker and has an ouchy groin. #6 has produced less than 10 fantasy points. #7 is #1 #8 is pretty near Anquan's total point production and I haven't used him yet. (Rudi and Frank have been solid). #9 - 12 aren't on my team anymore. #13 is my top kicker and performing pretty solidly. My top TE I haven't started yet and was undrafted. My top RB was not drafted by me (Gore) and is my #3 overall point producer. This just confirms what I know, that I don't draft particularly well and especially in the later rounds I never manage to find anyone worth keeping. I really over-reached on my kicker (really, I should save this pick for real late rounds) but amazingly my gut on Baltimore was pretty spot on. But hey, hard to really complain when you're winning and winning early in the season. This is something I've never managed in this FF league. At least I don't have a Daunte Culpepper skull fucking my team this year. |

I was thinking about the Madden curse the minute I heard about that injury.
Wow, did Atlanta ever stink up the Superdome last night. Either they just all got drunk before the game, or New Orleans really is a decent team. I never expected their D to stop the Atlanta running game. I didn't expect Atlanta to blow out the Saints, but I expected them to score, and to run at will. Maybe that's an indication that Carolina and Tampa's defenses are really much shittier than they have any right to be. I knew New Orleans would have a decent offense, but their defense is what's really surprised me. The NFL has gone all topsy-turvy again.
I don't think the Saints can hang with a great team like the Colts, but they are better than I thought.

Madden curse strikes again!
I told my brother this would happen when he took him in the first round in another league. That and last year he was playing for a large contract which he now has, even without the curse he was going to have a down year, that was just a double whammy. Atlanta just was playing college level special teams last night. Guy untouched UP THE MIDDLE to block a punt, amateur hour, or they layed down for the city of NO  Then one of the O lineman seemingly just dies and rolls onto his back instead of protect the rush on the field goal attempt. Just a pitiful game for them. But yeah NO D was just all over Vick last night, he couldn't do a damn thing... didn't help that his safety net Alge just played for shit. |

So, in another league I'm running, the guy who drafted Shaun Alexander dropped him. Turns out, Alexander isn't on the can't cut list due to injure (I guess).
They're saying he might actually play this weekend and not miss any time, with the Seattle bye week coming up soon. Now, I'm torn. Shaun Alexander on the waiver wire could seriously fuck up this league, and it's for money. So do I put him back on the team who dropped him, or let him go to whoever has the highest waiver priority (not me)?
I got a couple guys in the league that are PISSED, but coincidentally, they have a bad waiver priority and I think they'd have a different outlook if they had a chance at grabbing Alexander.
