Something I don't understand about various people trying to marry Loras.
Didn't Margery openly tell Sansa that Loras was joining the kings guard (and so she would be protected from Joffery) some weeks ago?
Even if I'm misremembering and Loras was just going to hang out in Kings Landing then that doesn't help Sansa get the fuck out of dodge.
On Loras in general he seems to have lost the simmering air of 'why are we here this is a fuckstupid plan' he had at the start of the season. That was better to watch than the gay jokes.

^^ This Some of us can't discuss the series without wanting to puzzle-out how events from the books will work in to the new narrative. Those who haven't read the books bitched up a storm. You made your bed, now lie in it. Just like GOT!

I thought that scene was more about making fun of Sansa's obvious uselessness than making fun of Loras.
IIRC, the joke was made in at least two other scenes in addition to the Loras-Sansa scene. Did not get funnier with repetition. Pretty damn hilarious.

Once again Sansa is looking at ships, but from a different perspective this time lol.
"That ship has sailed" I was also unimpressed with the Loras scene with Sansa. It could have worked if his orientation was unknown at this point, perhaps having been hinted at by any of the legion of sneaky hinters in King's Landing, but as things stand it's just poor writing. Zero tension on the wall-climb, which was too bad because everything else about it was excellent. It could have used a misleading prophesy or dream to give the threat some weight.

Another boring episode maybe they shouldn't have stretched out book 3 over two seasons.

I'm not sure how much faster they could go and still make it coherent. They could chop out the Theon stuff, I guess, but that's about it.

I'm just going to pretend that was an honest mistake. Yeah, show started off really slowly but the Dany and Twyin and the Maiden and Bear scenes saved it. Gendry has left Kings Landing, gone to Harrenhall, been kidnapped by the Brotherhood Without Banners and BACK to Kings Landing and Brann still hasn't reached the Wall.

So IMDB tells me the guy who plays Hodor, Kristian Nairn, this is his first significant role. He has nailed Hodor. And while you might say, its pretty easy to play a guy who only says one word, his timing and curious expression in this week's episode, when Osha is ranting to him about Joyjen and Bran, is perfect.

So Dragon Girl got another free army. Has anyone ever accomplished so much without doing anything for it? She has been put up to such heights, would make a great fall!* Different topic, when Stannis cursed Joffery, Rob Stark and Theon Grejoy: Why Grejoy? The first two make obvious sense, but what importance has Theon to him? Edit: Do I sound bitter? Just channeling my inner Cersei here. Sorry. Edit2: Martin really likes his odd couple theme: Jamie and Brienne and now Sansa and Tyrion. What's next? Loras and the hound?

The leech was burned for Balon Greyjoy, in the eyes of Stannis one of the three false kings, the self styled "King of the Iron Islands", Theon's father

Just wanted to say Good Job, Sam! Run off into the woods leaving behind the only protection you have against the white walkers. The making of The Slayer was supposed to be your defining moment. You had one job.

I THINK he has more than one of them. That was a fun surprise, I thought they had another use. Sam finally has a good scene. The episode felt like the calm before the storm. I kept expecting widespread panic and got awkward marriages; Sansa and Tyrion, Dany and the merc, Arya and The Hound. Gendry and Melisandre. Maybe I'm reaching, but the young folks are really getting exploited in Westeros. Dany does have a lot of shit fall into her lap. But I'm enjoying her story, it's a nice change of pace from Westeros. Stannis gets back in my good graces by showing that he values 'hard truths'. He's no slave to Melisandre, but he seems realistic in accepting the Lord of Light. Tyrion gets treated like shit at his own wedding and still is the (drunken) gentleman on his wedding night. When she said she was 14 I was Speaking of marriages, the Tyrells are now seeing what shitbirds they have aligned themselves with in full. Joffrey, Cersei and Tywin all show their ass and the more reserved Tyrells have got to be disgusted. Or maybe they hide their attitude better. Good episode, but I'm ready for some payoff instead of all this buildup. Two weeks to go I guess.

When she crossed over, she was just a ship. But when she came back... she was bullshit!

When she said she was 14 I was I know the girl is huge but the character just had her first period last season. Problem with showing events that lasted a few months in the books stretched out over three TV seasons. The girl that was just a bit old for the part when you cast her (a young-looking 16 playing a 13 year old) becomes jarringly miscast (a skinny but fully mature 19 year old trying to play 14). --Dave

Everybody in the realm knows who the Lannisters are, and what shitty human beings they are. They just can't avoid them because of the Lannister money and power.

When she said she was 14 I was I know the girl is huge but the character just had her first period last season. Yeah, forgot about that. The actress is 17 and since they have bumped up most of the characters ages I subconsciously did so to her as well. My hope is that Tyrion will teach her the art of intrigue. Now that she's a Lannister (yech!) she is much more protected and I'd love to see those two crazy kids take over the family.

I just think of all the characters as about their actors ages. My own personal rationalisation is that westorosi years are longer than earth years. 13 there is 18 here. Ned seemed very old for 37 when he died.

The entire concept of years makes no sense anyway when your seasons have variable lengths.

Poor Mormont's never gettin' any of that dragon ass. Speaking of ass, Oona (?) Chaplin said in an interview that a GoT actress has said she doesn't want to do anymore nudity. She wants to be known for her ACTING instead of her body. Rumor is that it's Emilia Clarke (Dany).

To be quite honest, they are starting to take the piss with the amount of unnecessary nudity they ask of some of the women in this show. I mean, I'm as much in favour of T&A as the next guy, but it got way out of control this season and if Dany in particular has slapped them down then I can't say I blame her.

Um, are we watching the same show? They seem to have dialed back the nudity since Season 1, in which Dany was naked every episode.

Yeah, but there was little to no reason for that scene to be in the bath. Really.

Many if not most HBO sex scenes seem to have little to no reason, other than to punch up the show.

Sex scenes are fine, who cares. But really, there are a lot of 'normal' scenes that are taking place in some kind of sexualised backdrop that's utterly unneccesary. I mean, I love Oonas ass as much as the next man, but did the whole Stark tactics discussion really have to take place with the camera over her half moon ?
Unless Sansa wants to get her tits out. I'm right on for that.

That's what I meant. I was trying to figure out what to call these scenes and chose poorly.
