I half-assedly live blogged three hours in LoR on Facebook tonight. You can view it here. EDIT: There are story spoilers for the tutorial and first mission.

I routinely nuke all my public posts, so it won't be there past Monday 5/13.

It looks like you were as impressed as I was. I will say, you're missing some good music on LoR in my opinion. Some of the music they wrote for it is quite excellent.

lol. Actually grabbed some of the Remen space set stuff -- which ate all my leftover Romulan stuff, which means I need to go breed Epohhs which means I need to go find Epohhs, and started on finishing off my MACO space set. (The Mk XI stuff, not the XII).

There's got to be a better way to earn Omega marks than, well, crappy Omega missions.

I'm still flying the actual ship you're given by the game (Science vessel, I think) for the top-tier. I've got the Breen in storage (don't have decent dual cannons and need to train up another set officers for that), and I've got the Alternative Enterprise (the Enterprise C maybe?) from the anniversery event, but I haven't checked how it stacks up to what I'm flying now.

The best way to get Omega marks is Special Task Forces. You get a minimum of 60 and probably more. If you join the channel PublicEliteStf you should be able to find people looking for teams.

I've been running the basic stuff. Haven't tried the elite versions. Probably will once I have the full MACO ship set, at least.

I'm getting Rom Marks off the Tau Dewa stuff, too bad some of them are straight up broken and you can't do them with anyone else. Grouping is just broken if you try.

Got the Lethean space passive doff pretty easy without dropping 1mil EC, might be some money to be made there if I can get a few more.

Not sure if I can stand the bs to get Borg gear but gonna try for that soon. Need better equip for pvp, but its been a little fun so far though the difference between real pvp'ers and everyone else is insane, top tier setups with experienced pilots all end with X-0 scores, they just can't be brought down.

A nation consists of its laws. A nation does not consist of its situation at a given time. If an individual's morals are situational, then that individual is without morals. If a nation's laws are situational, that nation has no laws, and soon isn't a nation.

What you will probably find is that they are running with Elite adaptive shields, which need a tier 4 starbase sci section to get. The shields give increasing resistances to energy weapons that are fired upon you after a few seconds, and come in 2 types which give a set resistance to 3 energy types. You will find that people run out to clear red alert to swap the shield if they find you are using one of the other energy types. Add in emergency power to shields which gives a resistance bonus and you are looking at something stupidly hard to take down. But don't worry you can get elite fleet weapons in your tier 4 Starbase constructor...

These are pretty much a must have in PVP these days. And they wonder why no-one bothers PVPing. Invest in a set of Transphasic torps, its pretty much your only hope of making a dent.

You're not alone in that. I still fly my dependable, customized Deep Space Science Vessel despite owning the Vesta, Excelsior, and Nebula.

I've got a ton of Romulan dailies and the entire Romulan planet to do, but frankly I just got confused last time I tried. :)

I did find some weird planet you had to wear a suit and shoot up Tholians on, though. The easy stuff was mind-blowingly easy. The medium stuff I accidentally stumbled on (didn't do the quest, just the area) and I was doing fine.

That's Nukura, the planet of "randomly run around and shoot Tholians" brain dead fun. And yeah you can do the medium stuff on your own no problem generally.

I just threw down some turrets and it seemed to go fine.

Finally sorted out all the transit points on Romulus and tagged Epohhs. Got one freakin' tag. I guess it works better in a group or something. Still, using Doffs to accumulate Romulan marks through tags is a heck of a lot nicer than running those instances over and over. (Winter Event netted me about 1500 just through Epohh breeding).

Your team needs to tag 30 epohhs to get the maximum 4 tags. Like I said. look in Zone chat and type "lfg Fed Epohh Tagging" or whatever. 3 people will get 30 egohhs tagged fairly easily. And its only about 5 minutes out of your day.

Today's the day. Legacy of Romulus is getting released. Server will be going down for 6 hours and they say it will be up at Noon PDT. Weather report shows crashes.

And the Dominion lock box is getting replaced with the Tal Shiar lockbox. Yey.

Plasmonic Leech for Feds? Guess they were afraid of all the Roms going KDF for it. Or was it the only console that wasn't available cross-faction at this stage?

Well considering the Plas leech is utterly and ridiculously broken, why wouldn't they?

The Klingon crying is, of course, epic to behold on the forums.

And really? Somebody asked the question, "Q: Since these are dropping as loot, does this mean I'm missing out on other loot I could be getting?" enough times for it to end up on the FAQ? What the fuck is wrong with people?

It really was one of the only consoles left, really.  And with (hopefully) all the new customers coming with LoR, they wanted to put a strong foot forward with the lockbox.  Which I think they did.  I definitely want both of those ships.  Usually, I only dig one from each lockbox, if even one.  I'm also grabbing the leech for every one of my Fed toons.

Aside from being one of the few genuinely useful consoles, I've never understood why people consider it OP.  Then again, I don't PVP, certainly not in this game.  Maybe it has an unbalancing effect there?

Imagine all your your power levels suddenly collapsing by 30 because 3 other ships start shooting you, and their power levels going UP by 10. That means they guns are hitting harder, their shields are stronger, they are turning better, their powers are more vicious, whiole the opposite is happening to you. And its also in combination with the Aecton Assimilator, which cuts 15 pits off all the power levels of everything around it. So yeah, it is totally OP in PVP. The crying of the Klingons should be enough proof of that.

In PVE its not so bad I suppose, but it basically gives you something like 10-15 points of free power for sod all downside.

Yeah but didn't they fix that so multiple ships couldn't stack drains on a single target almost immediately after the console first came out?  Or is it one of those famous Cryptic Fixes that reverts to old behavior even after they say its fixed?

Edit: From everything I've heard about the Aceton Assimilator, it sounds completely broken for PVP.

From everything I have heard it stacks. Of course I could be wrong about that. I'm sure the feds will be testing the console out to see if that's the case with a view to rubbing it in the klingon complainers face.

Yeah, it is pretty much default mode for the klingons.

It looks swank, but its multi-faction usability makes it crippled since they didn't give it a battle cloak.  So as a Romulan ship it sorta sucks.

Meh, the big draw for me on the escort is the shrapnel torpedoes.

That said, I'm glad I pre-patched most of it because it's gonna take an hour to download that last 224 megs. The servers are getting hammered.

I'd like to try the Romulans, but apparently everyone is trying to logon. I can't get my character list. Pretty standard major release for anyone. There's never enough machine to handle the temporary influx.

Edited to add: Just did. Kinda digging the new log-in screen. Your crew, ship, ship name...pretty nice.

Romulan start is awesome. From the movie to the time when you get your ship. Solid all the way.

Now I'm just waiting in the queue for my turn back in after the server bounce. Number 712 of 3162.  ACK!

I made me a Romulan engineer (Have a federation scientist, a Klingon..something,...and a Fed tactical). I created the character, but logged off when I saw the queue. I can wait.

Do you start at level one, or like Klingons at level 20-something?

Apparently the Klingon story is pretty kickass too now.

Well, crud. :) I'm not starting my Klingon over! (Admittedly, he's only like level 36. And I think not that far along).

I really am digging the rotating planet on the login screen, and the ships + crews stuff on the character select screens. The new character creation setup isn't too bad either.
