Well there goes the neighborhood. The great unwashed are in  Cry

Not all the unwashed are in yet... Some of us didn't preorder until last week. =(

...

And hello to all from 3 years ago. Been a while since I've played an MMO so been a while since I've been 'round these parts of the interwebs.

This launch is bringing a few people out of the woodwork, it's cool! I think the last time I grouped with Chorulle was AO  ACK!

As far as the unwarshed masses: HOW WILL THEY EVER OVERCOME MY COMPETETEV AVANTAGE OF 15 LEVELLS AND SETTING TEH MARKET PRICE ON TEH AH!?

They're using the avatar body types to define server status:

Light
Standard
Heavy
Very Heavy

But they didn't allow Hutt Lord as a playable race, so we can't have Full as an avatar.

This is my main gripe.  They've effectively diminished the low-midgame grouping experience by making this launch maneuver, especially for the smaller guilds.  This is before considering the urge to powerlevel to catch up, instead of paying attn. to their beloved storyline.

I'd be willing to be money that EVERYONE will be in by the end of the day tomorrow.  So essentially Early Access "up to" the 15th that was previously posted will be for everyone.

How much money we talkin here?  Or perhaps a trade?  Say, if I don't get in tomorrow you give me your login for mine later.  And if I DO get in tomorrow I give you my login for yours tomorrow.

I'm thinking it's a safe bet that everyone will be in tomorrow. Probably a ton of initial pre-orders, very few for a few months, then a decent number following the final beta weekend.

If they already got through July, August, and September that only leaves two really light months and one semi-heavy month (Dec.). I'm guessing the final email tomorrow will be everyone else. If not, then first email on the 16th.

A few of us played much of the day yesterday and were mid-teens. There were still a few in single digits (lol work); the low levels go pretty quick.

I'll be up for a couple more runs of BT (first flashpoint, low-mid teens) as people get odd the starter worlds; three runs NO PANTS. Well, I was wearing pants; I mean pants didn't drop. Not that I want people to drop their pants. FOR PANTS!

Another note: Mako can heal through BT. We ran it Powertech/Sniper/Assassin and only had trouble when our dipshit PT stood in the fire  why so serious?

Other than that, I ran PUGs for the Dromund Kaas heroic stuff without any problems. We grouped for the mandalorian area and then hit the next one by the statue to get that done. For the Hutta stuff, I caught Cho's sniper just as I was going back at level 11 to clean up the heroic stuff before moving off-world and we duo'd it easy-peasy. A roundabout way of saying it shouldn't be too much of an issue tackling the low hanging group content.

Interesting, pretty much all US servers show the load in light-standard range. Either not many people are free at home and able to play yet, or BW might be tempted to slip in some extra wave given that.

Comedy GOLD, Jerry!

Quote
So the people who have been exploiting/rushing, get to get to level 50, then go farm all the bind on equip items they can find, and they get to set the market price. Because they preorded between july 21st and july 28. It's ironic july 21st is my birthday, but i don't spend my life on the net, so i didn't know about the preorder until much more recently, but had i known, i could have preordered on day one with ease.

So basically finding out about preorders at a later date, makes you less entitled to play then the person who paid the same amount of money as you or perhaps less money then you based on what edition you bought. This whole thing is ********. People think that this won't effect the games economy. If thats the case, sadly you've never grasped the economy of any mmo you've played, because day one effects the market that exists a year down the track. So screw you bioware, thankyou for ruining the launch experience for 70-80% of your community. Elitist ********'s please refrain from posting on my thread, i don't want to hear about how you think we don't have the right to complain.

The fact is

-Bioware refers to it as a game launch

-Early access advertising for you, may have said "up to 5 days", but there are many examples where the advertisement simply december "EARLY ACCESS- DECEMBER 13TH"

-Bioware has failed to sufficiently inform their community as to whats going on, people have resorted to 'EDUCATED SPECULATION' as to when they'll get to play. People shouldn't be speculating when they'll be able to play a game, like most companies, you should have a fixed release date in which everyone is able to play at the same time

-Bioware has claimed it's not a stress test, but claims that letting more people in than what they did is a form of stress testing (Which is ********) the server proved it could hold up and to 2 million people during the final beta weekend. So why couldn't they begin with 2 million people this time.

-Go ahead. Complain that we're complaining, elitists. You are simply arguing for the sake of arguing, at least we have legitimet reasons as to why we can claim to be an unhappy/disatisfied customer, as opposed to complaining that people are using the forums to voice their opinion (which guess what, is what a forums for).

I read somewhere that this was EA's call and not BW's.  Dunno if that's true, but it'd make a lot more sense if that was the case.
This parsing of invites breaks more things than it fixes imo and reid's explanation also wasn't good enough unless you're an ignorant fanboi lemming.

Also been reading around the webz about many many markets already being cornered (even purpz already), gold farming being rampant, and a lot of day 1 folk who just cant find groups to play with and end up skipping content or are being forced to play alts (which doesnt help the starter zones).  Another interesting effect is the secondary gaming market (livestreamers for instance), wherein BW gets free advertising...  a lot of it is lost since there really is no day 1 rush and many contributors cant login yet.  And when they do, the zone is dead.  There's no '1st to 50,' 'first raid,' or any of that either now of course.  It's all been rendered dependent on pre-access.

The last effect I read on was that BW really doesnt have adequate server load/pop numbers now.  Since they're parsing invites rather than letting everyone in, they cant guage peak use in any node whatsoever until all invites are done.  When this point arrives, people/guilds will be too far along to switch servers once the untested realms pop queues.  Especially so on launch day.

Anyways, it's a borked launch model.  I much preferred Rift's launch style to any other MMO I've seen.  They had double the amount of necessary servers on tap if need be and opened extras the moment things got dicey.  You typically could find a stable server by day 2 and had many to choose from.  By actual launch day they had all the numbers they needed and things were near perfect for the late arrivals.   Later on they'd allow server moves and mergers, and so on.

I dunno, the whole idea kinda destroyed it for me (probably for a lot of others too).  And when you even start hearing people who got in at 7am tuesday complaining, then it's probably time for BW to re-evaluate their motives.

 rolleyes

I like Rift, but their launch model was terrible. We had to switch servers because our first server choice was like a 4 hour queue.  So, we picked something less populated so people could actually play.  Then when people rapidly got sick of the game, it turned into a ghost town almost overnight.  The free server transfers were a necessity, but at least they handled them well.   Of course, once our server was picked as a "trial server" it went from ghost town to single player server, making the transition period incredibly awkward.

I could really give less of a shit about the rest of the concerns.  We need a "big fucking deal" emote.
