I'm taking my 5,000 man guild and going to SOE!

THAT will show you, Funcom, for not treating me with the respect a paying customer deserves!

I can't get past "connecting to authenticatino server."  That's TEN MINUTES FUNCOM HAS STOLEN FROM ME.  I plan to spam Funcom CS with hundreds of emails threatening class action lawsuits now.

It doesn't even open for another 20 mins, at least... can't complain yet!

It doesn't? Omg, Schild LIED to us! I plan to spam F13 CS with hundreds of emails threatening class action lawsuits now.

I should get back to nature, too.  You know, like going to a shop for groceries instead of the computer.  Maybe a condo in the woods that doesn't even have a health club or restaurant attached.  Buy a car with only two cup holders or something. -Signe

Well, I saw 1700 GMT.  Greenich (sp?) meant time, which is UK, which is EST + 500 = 1200 EST... unfortunately it's now EDT which is EST + 100... dammit!  15 more minutes!

Just from some forums :

Quote
I got to log in an make a new char about 40 min ago. Did the first key quest on the beach and killed a few pirates in the jungel befor they took the server down.
Everything was running smooth and no choppy picture. I had a hard time playing open beta so this is looking pretty good.

Default  Server list Early Access (revamped)
As we added a new PvP Ruleset (Culture PvP) we had to tweak the different numbers of servers and also names a little bit. So the new list now is as follows:

US Servers (Early Access 17th of May)

PvE Servers
• Set
• Dagoth
• Zug
• Omm
• Derketo
• Thog
• Wiccana
• Gwahlur (recommended Oceanic)

PvP Servers
• Tyranny
• Bane (Culture PvP)
• Deathwisper
• Bloodspire (recommended Oceanic)
• Doomsayer
• Stormrage

RP-PvP Server
• Cimmeria (RP)

And we will of course add mores servers for launch. Details to follow soon.

Default New PvP Ruleset: Culture PvP
As part of celebrating the release of Age of Conan we are happy to unravel a brand new PvP ruleset that has not previously been disclosed: The Culture PvP ruleset! Note that this new PvP server type is experimental and players on these servers must expect an ongoing change to the ruleset.

The goal of this PvP server-type is to stimulate war behind the three cultures of Cimmeria, Aquilonia and Stygia. As a player on a Culture PvP server, you are shielded from lone travelers of your own culture, however you may still group with any culture and form a group and attack anyone.

The Culture PvP ruleset is an evolving ruleset that will be tweaked and polished based on player-feedback in the months to come. Although it is, at least currently, possible to make guilds across cultures, pure culture groups and guilds will be endorsed on this server, and as such players on the Culture PvP servers must prepare that the future will hold continued changes to the ruleset.

We have changed to ruleset on two servers that were previously flagged as full PvP. The homes for the Culture PvP servers are:

Bane (US)
Twilight (EU)

With best regards,

Funcom

Some people said they picked up copies today at GameStops.  I don't know if that's true.  They've shipped out early, too, and some people have had them delivered.  Unless you have the three day early access (though early access is looking like a myth) you can't play until the 20th.

British Summer Time has tornados that consume cows and smileys?!  Yikes, I've heard of London fog, but never of a Telford Twister or a Truro tornado!

I picked mine up at Gamestop earlier.  It's not recognizing my password but the account webpage is.  Is the because I have a retail version and have to wait until the 20th with the rest of the mainstream vermin?

You had to pay the $5 fee to get early access, which they closed down several days ago.  I pre-ordered and can't get in because they closed it before I got my key.

I thought the usual complaint is not being able to get the game on launch day.

I feel quite the opposite.  If your launch is the 20th, have the game disks available a week before.

Their stupid way of doing pre-release access, that we can talk about.

If anyone wants to see what it looks like with DirectX 10 and everything turned up to max (on a 8800GT), links to full sized screenshots:

I don't have FRAPS so I can't see the FPS, but it's not bad - just a little stuttering when a new texture has to load. I turn it down a little to reduce the stuttering, but I still use higher values than the default 'High' settings (which doesn't even have any AA on).

Nice screenshots. On pictures the characters look a bit rigid and plastic, but I don't feel the same ingame. I'm not playing atm, played the beta and if I remember correctly with CTRL+ALT+F you can show FPS.

Ah ha, thanks! Seeing 15 FPS when looking at the city, 20+ FPS when in the jungle at max ... pretty sure I was getting better before I restarted, so something else kicked in during the restart. Whatever it was didn't seem to improve what I'm seeing. I'll have to track that down and turn it back off.
