It's basically just a hodgepodge of every prominent ancient culture from different periods all bundled into one period. Aquilonians are French/Charlemagne/Holy Roman era types. Nemedia are their Germanic/Holy Roman counterparts. Cimmerians are Gaelic-like barbarians (not Nordic as some assume -- that would be the properly named Asgardians). Picts are even more barbaric than Cimmerians -- kind of the wildside of old Europe, as well as Native American cultures. Corinthia are Greeks. Shemites are Semetic cultures in general. Stygians are the more fantasical/mystical aspects of Egyptians. Hyrkanians are Mongols. Zamora is like a combo between Castillian and Gypsy cultures. Kush is Ethiophia/Ancient African Kingdoms in general..
Unfortunately, only 3 of these races are playable (last I checked?). So you have Gaul, Carolingians, and Egyptians. Isn't too hard to come up with a theme for any of those. Whatever though! Bat Country is fine. Personally, I'd go with LotW (Lamentations of the Women). This means that all the geared up, pre-recruited mega guilds are going to be squished onto the same servers and that the launch day ones will only have less organized groups. And from the other thread they are only doing this so that they can keep closed beta running a few measly more days? I'm certain they have more bugs to fix than they can handle already so they should just shut down closed beta, make those servers into live ones and let anyone who preordered get the download and play on the seventeenth. I don't know what these guys are smoking.

The opposite could just as well be true. With the Early Access servers being dominated by a handfull of legacy guilds, the servers coming up later could be the most competitive for players not already in a zerg or legacy guild. Each Early Access PvP server will probably each have 10+ 100 man guilds already linedup. If you have a smallish or new guild that you form inside the game itself, you'll probably never own a city or borderkeep or whatever on an EA server. I tried to find out what the actually rulesets for each server type was and just got some vague - these servers will have extra rules. I couldn't find anywhere that actually states the pvp servers are full FFA.

I had people on three separate occasions threaten me for almost very nearly no reason in beta. Of course, I said nasty vile things about the size of their wee wees and mocked them for running around in man knickers and frocks afterwards. As fun as that was, I don't REALLY want to play with them. And "they" seem to be everywhere in AoC. It seems worse than SB or WoW. Hopefully, they don't want to be called carebears so they'll leave the PvE servers to people who don't give a toss.

Ah ha, thanks! Seeing 15 FPS when looking at the city, 20+ FPS when in the jungle at max ... pretty sure I was getting better before I restarted, so something else kicked in during the restart. I changed it in game to DX10, with the usual dialog box saying that the machine may seize up while the settings take, but nothing really happened, other than the drop down menu saying it was DX10 now.

Playing some bear shaman guy. No clue what I'm doing. I have no spells yet that I can see. No clue what to do with my skill points. Haven't figured out the chat window yet. Combat is pretty durn fun although I'm mostly mashing my fist against the keyboard. I like the action RPG feel to it, though. Anyways... back to it! I'd be interested in having a toon on Zug, but I don't know if I'm willing to chip up another subscription fee for what would essentially be an alt. Or do I atleast get away with one key? Or neither?
