I think it does have a cloak, its that just you can't cloak in Red Alert mode.

My favorite DOff mission - and I've only seen it ONCE since the system came online - was something about scanning a spatial rift. I critted and got a purple El-Aurian Bartender. o_O

Sadly that mission only pops up ONCE per character. I agree its a great one though. That Bartender is surprisingly versatile...

You can only get that one once (if you succeed) and I think it always either crits or just fails - you either get notGuinan or it goes back into the shuffle; no 'normal' success.

Quote
If you can crit the mission "Raid Facility 4028 Safehouse," you can get a TON of rewards. 2-3 Commodities, about a half-dozen prisoners (one a blue or purple Vorta), and various bits of equipment.
If anyone gets this, keep hold of the vorta prisoner until you get "Exchange prisoners with Dominion" as a mission. That one gets you a Gamma Quadrant doff (usually blue, sometimes purple, very rarely green/white) as a reward and who doesn't want a Vorta chef? "Oh, is cyanide toxic to your species? Sorry, it tasted fine to me" awesome, for real

There's a couple of other "dominion fugitive" specific missions as well - don't do them. They just give xp/credits/etc. as rewards. Likewise any of them that just need a 'prisoner' - you can get plenty of normal prisoners just marauding.

The vorta prisoner is also a key to maxing espionage fairly easily.  There is an interrogation mission that pops up, using an appropriate blue and one of those vorta I think your failure rate is 1%.  I have picked up 3 and shipped them to different characters.

Is there any reason to sub?  The f2p options seem pretty generous and you don't get a monthly stipend of zen or anything like that like you do with cartel coins in SWTOR.

Sub gives you 500 zen a month, and unlocks a lot of bank and character inventory slots. Maybe one or two other minor things.

The standard SA advice is sub for a month as the bank (etc.) unlocks stay then go F2P.

How the hell is the "Can't turn in red alerts" bug still there. Inability to turn in a quest seems like the sort of thing that would, you know, get fixed rather rapidly.

I think they call that a "low priority" bug when compared with the "people getting kicked out of events" bug. But what do I know. The Tau Dewa Ras not working is still not fixed and that has been there for MONTHS.

Just finished the Romulan intro series and I like that they've actually got an excuse for shoving you into a museum piece this time around - it's actually is a decommissioned warbird from about a century ago but it's the only warp-capable ship you've got at that point (and the first mission you get is "let's go scavenge parts from these nearby wrecks to get this antique working")

Yeah. I really liked that part. I wish we could put the warbird paintings on the newer ships.

Reloaded this back up. Seems I have lost my old account, but doesn't matter since I have wanted a Romulan since the game came out. Seems smoother than what I recall... But then again, I am still on the planet intro.

I had my level 8 Klingon suddenly hit level 21 when I came back!  wtf?  Just got a K't'inga cruiser and it's schweet!  I'm playing four different captains at once.  Jesus.

Got my Romulan to 22 and flying the sweet, sweet Valdore.  The mission quality has held up very well.  There's a good sequence on board a dormant cube, and another interesting couple of missions involving Hobus, Taris, Iconian gateways, and Tal Shiar brainwashing.

I unlocked the Tal Shiar outfit and it looks amazing.  They took those weird over-padded, super-shouldered jackets from TNG and removed all the suck from them.

I've completed the Rommie arc now and was very very impressed... Apart from the very last part of "Devils Choice" I do recommend you play the mission , but the third wave of the final battle is freaking impossible.  I do recommend you play the mission as it is actually good fun apart from the very last part. I'll spoiler the rest of my comments but I could recommend you warp out and drop and skip the mission once you see the last part.

I note they seem to have gotten rid of trophies -- at least there's no option in the Romulan bridge for it.

Which reminds me, I need to swap out the bridge on my current Federation starship. It's not got a ready room, and I think I have an episode coming up that requires one.

Found my old Fed account. Nice to have the option of playing my 'designers' crew again. I must have left a long time ago, because this linking to a PW account was never a thing.

I went crazy and replayed that mission at 50 to get the blue singularity core. I died a few times but finished that last wave in around 5-10 minutes. I went straight for the objective and it was much easier. I don't know if it would've been as easy originally since my first play took me over an hour and was pure frustration.

I did it again with the adapted destroyer and purple MK XII weapons and just killed. The end fight was still a bit of a bitch, but I only died twice. Those shrapnel torpedoes and the quad cannons I pulled off the Defiant retrofit just shredded all the small stuff on the first pass.

Well yeah at level 50 and loaded up with purple gear and access to all your abilities it might be more manageable and you might be able to get near the command ship, but in your level 30s with a mishmash of mission gear on?

And yeah. I'll probably do it again myself for the blue warp core... Kill me. *sob*

On another issue, Cryptic is auto-banning people for mentioning Gold spammer sites twice in any chat in the game. Details in this thread, bring popcorn. I mean I can support their reasons and see their point, but this might be a LITTLE draconian...

So I been getting quite a few Tal Shiar lockboxes to drop. Are they worth the price of admission?

Just like any other lockboxes, mostly no. You will get the occasional cool weapon or mirror ship, but the adapted destroyers are still pretty rare. If you feel like shelling out actual cash for keys, go nuts. Either that, or save 'em til the next flavor of lockbox drops and then sell them.

Hey Rish, could I hit you up for another set of Tron gear?

Keep in mind, when the sub runs out, the inventory/bank inventory slots stay. You get respec tokens for every rank up (20/30/40/50).  But what you do not keep is the EC cap increase.  After it runs out you go back to 10mil instead of 1 billion.  I did not see that and lost 12 mil of exchange profits.  Thankfully the alien artifact lottery that gave me a disruptor console sold a day before my sub ran out.  Essentially, you cannot earn any new money but you get to keep what you have already earned.

If people are affected by the "cannot delete mails" bug, there is a work around. You can log onto Neverwinter or another cryptic game like champions online, and you can delete your in game mails from there.

So what are these glowing red thingies on the main map? Deep Space Encounters, Klingon patrols, that sort of thing?

Edited to add: Don't know if this is a new bug, but the autopilot in sector space seems..problematic. It keeps missing places I'm sending the ship, getting stuck on walls, and basically seems to have some problems. I suspect it's the new warp cores throwing off the math for navigation.
