The endgame is reputation grinds with various factions for shinies and running big task force missions, more or less.

The Romulan shield looks totally different than the reman, and the deflector has different bonuses. I didn't like it at all. You can check them out on tribble.

Ooh yeah I forgot you could do that now.  Thanks!

Edit:  Doffs and starbases are also an endgame kind of thing.

Just started the Omega/Romulan rep grinds. Suckful, but probably less excruciating than doing the same instance over and over. Oh wait, it's the same. Just gated by time now. Fuckin' blargh.

Pity you didn't use the winter event. I made some 1600 Romulan marks on breeding Epohhs, and I still have five in storage. (I also have five or six coat crates to sell).

OTOH, I have a TON of stupid ornaments to sell for GPL, except you can only sell them one at a fucking time. Which means I have something like 400+ ornaments to sell (admittedly, for 200 gpl a pop) and each one requires two mouse clicks. I'm gonna die before I'm done.

I don't even know what GPL is really used for, except holograms and stuff. :)

I've actually got most of the marks I need, it's just the pain in the ass of waiting the 20 hours at a time to plug 'em in.

Yeah, and what you get at the end is the right to fork over tons of dilithium to a store. Woo fucking whoo lemme GRIIIIND some MORE!! One of my chars is 2 days from tier 5 and really I'm wondering if I really give a crap at this stage. I hear the mission at tier 5 Rom is pretty cool so I'll see.

Made 40.  Pretty convinced I have almost no idea what I am doing.  I use escort stuff, or whatever can mount cannons?  Cheap and plentiful by comparison to beam arrays.  Trying to figure out upgrading bridge officer stuff now.  Can you have one bridge officer train another in a skill, or is that just you?  I know you can have them train someone instead of joining your crew.

I sure wish those crew mission things saw components in your bank, or you could hit a button and be charged the replication cost.  Damn annoying having to open up all those dumb menus.

You can have a bridge officer candidate train one of your officers, then it is consumed.

I'm pretty sure duty officer missions DO see components in your bank.  I keep all my traces there and can still do the console assignments.

Unfortunately I finally got Xcom, so I've been...distracted. (Also ME3, Halo 4, and I still need to work through the Assasin's Creed series. And blood bowl has been very fun...dangit).

STO is celebrating its 3rd year anniversary. For the next couple of weeks You can play a mission that nets you an ambassador class ship, which is the Enterprise-C from "Yesterdays Enterprise" and a battlecruiser if you are a klingon. Pretty cool actually. You can also run around after stuff for Q if you want.

There's a video showcasting things here... and a nice teaser at the end that you might be allowed to play a romulan in May. EEEEEEEE!!!

The new party popper is hilarious. It basically shoots balloons.  Big ones, little ones, and balloon animals of different starships. And they aren't static in the environment , either. If you run through a stack of them they bounce around and are basically entertaining the way real balloons are. The best part is they are either really long lasting or maybe just bugged, as ESD is now completely littered with them. Some people are complaining about it. I think they need to shut the hell up.

I never cared much for the Ambassador class aesthetically, but I am excited about the Klingon cruiser.  Looks like a nice stepping stone between the K'tinga and Vor'cha, just like the Ambassador was intended to be the step between the Excelsior and the Galaxy.

You also get a title for the mission as well as a new 'uniform' which is in reality a sash and belt to wear over the tng outfit to look like alternate history Feds or Klingons.

I actually always liked the Ambassador class, and "Yesterdays Enterprise" is my fave Newtrek episode, so I'm very happy with it.. The new kling vessel is baddass, very good mix of eng and sci abilities. And the mission is actually pretty enjoyable as well. All in all a pretty good Anniversary event as far as they go.

Yeah, I got the Ambassador just to have it in my bank, but don't intend to ever fly it.  I've never been particularly fond of them.

I have the old Micro Machines Enterprise-C on my desk, so, yeah, totally getting it. It's always been one of my favorite TNG ships.

[NERD]And "Yesterday's Enterprise" is one of only three times in 47 years that Star Trek has done time travel right (the other two are "City on the Edge of Forever" and "All Good Things").[/NERD]

Um, Trials And Tribble-ations?

That was fun, but I was thinking about episodes that dealt seriously with the implications of temporal manipulation.

"Year of Hell" in Voyager was a good core concept, (the obsessed captain desperately squashing butterfly after butterfly to see what undoes the hurricane). Unfortunately, they wasted it on Voyager.

Year of Hell gets a mention in one of the player-made episodes called "The Fire In Which We Burn". Pretty good for player-created content.

A summary of Voyager.  Oh ho ho ho. Reallllly?

So I logged in for the first time in months and played through the anniversary quest - pretty nice. Was that actually Denise Crosby they got as VA?

I must admit to be quite curious about May. Clearly it is going to be Romulan stuff and most of the people I actually play with have convinced themselves it is Romulans as a playable faction. We'll see.

I posted on facebook when they asked for opinions of the anniversary mission that it might just be their best mission so far. It felt so...right in so many ways.
