So is the Witcher worth it? That one sort of caught my eye as something viable on the list.

Just make sure you stick with it past the initial chapter. It gets much better. Also, the combat which seems really horrible in the beginning really opens up after you get a few more moves. It turns from a simple timed click, to sort of a rhythm game, that really feels like you are doing a sword dance.

That's an awfully generous description. The combat never really improves, IMO.

I agree with Morfiend, for me it improved vastly once I got the appropriate skills. Mileages obviously vary.

So, uh.. is Ghostbusters on PC any good? It seems suspiciously cheap for something relatively recent.

I've heard it described as buggy, uninspired fanwankery.  I guess you could get $4 out of hearing Bill Murray voice Dr. Venkman again.

I got it during the christmas sale, it's kind of fun, but I haven't bothered to finish it, so...didn't hold my attention all the way through.  Might go back to it someday, or maybe not.

Blood Bowl + Dark Elves at €14.99 too, how good was it? Reviews are in the 60-80% range, that sounds somehow intimidating.

People seemed to have a lot of fun with it during the F13 league.

Very fun if you like table top gaming.  Its a perfect translation (for once) of a Games Workshop game into the digital form.  I've had a lot of fun with it, and I want us to start another F13 league so I can join god dammit.   awesome, for real

Is the Force Unleashed worth 7.50?  I've WANTED to want that game for a while, but I've heard almost nothing but that it is crap, under 10 dollars is getting into the what the fuck range though.

"Today Only"

Audiosurf $2.50 : Sure, if you don't already have it.
City of Heroes $9.99 : Get a buddy trial account or something if you are interested.

Supreme Commander 2 $7.47 :  Ohhhhh, I see.
Company of Heroes $24.99 : No idea
SW FU $7.50 : I hear it is crap on the PC?
Zeno Clash $3.75 : ? ? ? ?
Hearts of Iron 3 $10.20 : No idea

I'm trying to buy that witcher game and steam is telling me "the steam servers are currently too busy" error.  I guess this big sale is very popular.

As a warning to others it looks like the witcher is about a 13Gig download.

It's probably worth $7.50.  Although the terrible story may make you rage a bit if you are a Star Wars geek at all.

I gotta stop reading these threads.  I've got god knows how many games on Steam I still haven't finished, and now I have 6 more.

Freedom Force 1&2
Space Wolves 1,2&3
Avencast

The download servers are taking a bit of a beating, but every time I've gotten the error msg, I've just retried the d/l, and it worked ok.

Zeno Clash is definitely worth picking up for the price. It's short, but the combat is pretty satisfying once you get a knack for it. I dream of a game that merges the weapon fighting of Dark Messiah with the pugilism from Zeno Clash.

If you have a Wii and want to play FU (gee that sentence is dirty...)  then go to the library and rent it.  It's a short game and plays much better on the "joke console" than the other 3 platforms.

I grabbed that big THQ pack. $50 for a bunch of pretty awesome games I haven't ever played past their demo stages (Titan Quest, Company of Heroes, Dawn of War II, DoW I's two standalone expansions...) can't be beat.

Witcher price went up? This sale is confusing, was it on the 1-day list and I just didn't read it right?

Yeah, that's strange.  It didn't say it was a one-day price, but now it's up to 33% off from the the 66% off it was the first day.

I'd probably wait until the end of the sale now to pick it up if you're interested if only to see if maybe goes back down again.

It happens... the owner realising they've accidentally made a good deal and wondering if they could have gotten more. Like borderlands being listed in Australia at the US price and then suddenly going up to 150% of the old cost.

Force Unleashed sucks with just PC controls.  I played with with a 360 controller and it was much more fun.  I enjoyed it enough that I played through twice.

I'm considering the game+expansion pack for The Guild 2 at around $13, but I'm concerned over the reviews. I'm wondering if the tech issues and bugs were solved that cost the game, or if was worth 10 hours of fun at that price? Anyone tried it?

I got to playing some this morning and just looked at the keybindings and immediately opted to plug in a 360 controller.  It really plays just fine with it.  I have the problems I usually have with 3rd person action games (namely, cameras are almost always not to my satisfaction, and this isn't different), but its still probably the most fun i've had with a star wars game since jedi knight 2

As far as I can work out, the Pirates (stand alone) expansion is super-set of the original game so you don't need to worry about getting it.

As for the game, it seems to run okay for me (W7 x64, GF 8800 GTS 512).  The only technical problem I've had is that movies are just a black screen in-game.  It's only a problem in that you can't watch the tutorial video in-game, but it's at C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\the guild ii - pirates of the european seas\Movie\Tutorial1.mpg.

Thanks, I'm running a similar system, so I may pick it up for my economics fix since Ubisoft DRMed the Settlers to hell and back. Also, it appears that Gothic 3 is out at patch 1.60 and upgradable to community patch 1.74, so the reviews went from "buggy POS" to "awesome game now that the tech issues were solved."

I'm going to grab Gothic 3 as well.

Holy crap, the Gothic 3 1.74 community patch is 1/3 the download size of Gothic 3 itself. What the hell is in it?

Also Civ IV complete for $10?

Guess I own Civ IV now.
