the aquilonian acheronian ruins storyline that involves the hobo crying about ghosts something else entirely.

Turns out it's not. I just stumbled upon it:

Wow.  Much respect to Funcom.  Talk about a company that got humble instead of defensive, and then buckled down to save their game.  Here's hoping they can do it...it's sort of broken my heart to see the big PvP releases emerge and then fade to a chorus of "...but it had so much potential!".  Just seeing one of them get pulled out of the fire would be a relief to my jaded gamer's soul.

I swore I'd never play AoC again, but I'm staring at the box on my shelf right now.  Of course, I'm a somewhat easy mark -- I am so starved for a good PvP game.  And I really liked my PoM.

You're going to be very lonely if you're playing a level 50 on Agony.

I won't be leveling fast anyways, but i could use a guild invite if anyone is on atm.

We didnt have a guild as of yesterday, since we needed to be off Tortage, and none of us where yet. Maybe you can get with Schild today and get it created.

I got the guild made.

On that note, I'm making a level 50 assassin to twink out the low level folks while they play catchup. Ya know, do a bunch of level 20 epic instances and drop the blue loot in the guild bank.

If you have a character over lvl 50 you can make a one time only char starting at lvl 50 of any class on any server.

Well, since casters dont have to use Stam for combos, they can use sprint much more than a melee class. Thats kind of like a run speed buff.

I'm still not sold on playing a DT.

I can't find any updated skill lists.  Anyone have a good link?

I believe it was Zug, and it merged in to Wiccana.

It's still out-of-date for Dark Templars.  The Ask Kalanthes site is current for us.

Also still interested in bumpage for the old Bat Country guild.

My dark templar is lurking on Wiccana also, but that's where I actually started way back.  I'm not going to be resubbing for a few weeks though.

Having a hard time picking a class.  I would like a basic hack and slash melee type with a few tricks.  Any recommendations?  I have an assassin that seems pretty fun, but I really haven't played this game enough to really know.

Dark Templar seems to be the closest to Paladin.  I think I'm going with that.

Conquerer or maybe Barbarian.

Yeah, I guess I'm just going to have to do one of each and see which one bores me first.

The biggest issue is that the initial mechanics are so similar on all the different classes.  I really wish there was a tangible difference early.

A Barb is more of a Rogue, they have high DPS, high CC and Stealth, with relitively low HP and armor. Conqs have medilish DPS, with high armor and high life. You wont be wading in to a ton of enemies just swinging away with the Barb.

I am Statham the Dark Templar.  I created a guy who looked like Jason Statham unintentionally.  Tried the name as a joke, and it worked.

Oh well.

Protip: if you create a 50, dislike the class, and want to create another, just cry to a gm and he'll give you another chance.

Also, it seems that they buffed the heck out of some bosses' hp pools.

It's true! My assassin is no more!

Of course, I still can't figure out what's worth playing for farming low level epic instances.

Alright, I'm in, but picking a class is going to be an issue.

Can anyone give a rundown on the classes?  All the descriptions I've read are chock full of fluff.
Just a very brief (1-2 sentence or less even) description would be choice.

Guardian: standard tank.
Conqueror: arms warrior.
Dark Templar: poor man's death knight.

Barbarian: rogue with less dps and more survivability
Assassin: rogue.
Ranger: Hunter sans pet.

Bear Shaman: healer with medium armor. Also uses melee attacks, or so I hear.
Priest of Mitra: priest.
Tempest of Set: Used to be an aoe god of death.

Demonologist: nuker.
Necromancer: nuker with a lot of pets.
Herald of Xotli: fury warrior.
----

FuriAUI is, sadly, broken. Skill and stats tabs aren't working. Seems that the only UI up to dat e is Stonesomething or else, absolutely atrocious, but still better than the default.
