I am always a bit confused by the hate of any of the main 4 characters (Walt, Skyler, Jesse or Hank). I have trouble judging them as I don't think any of them ever do anything that is unreasonable given their circumstances. Yes, there are points at which I'd have made different decisions, but I always understood why they made the bad choices they did and I think most people would consider their path had they been smart enough to think of it. Or weak enough not to give into it.
Hank is the only one I have any respect for.

Alan Sepinwall has a pretty compelling review about why is WAS necessary and consistent with the show.

I only just watched the last episode because I didn't want it to end. Oh well. Ended. Having said that, I'm glad I don't read tv threads while I'm still watching or care, and I thought the ending was perfect albeit disturbing.
I'll never watch the very last one.

Tuned in, immediately get to watch cringey Ubisoft talking head offering her deepest sympathies to the families impacted by the Orlando shooting while flanked by a man in a giraffe suit and some sort of "horrifically garish neon costumes through the ages" exhibit or something. We need to stop this fucking planet right now and sort some shit out. -Kail

Hands down, the best television series ever, and even beats out 98% of motion pictures. The ending was perfect.

Seriously, this show was the first show I have ever seen that left me feeling at peace with the material. Most shows, even good ones, upset me with their endings. I always either want more or feel like there is unfinished business, and it often sours me on the entire series. Not this one though, this one was masterfully ended.

I think I agree with Sepinwall (in that the ending was almost TOO tidy), but it was a very satisfying ending nonetheless.

Such a graceful, well-written winding down of a show. It felt like a broken clock slowly cranking out the last little seconds before it stops. Favorite part: Walt's final admission that he did it all for himself and he liked it.

Perfect ending to the most well-written television series I've ever seen. Ozymandias indeed.

Thought it was a perfect ending. I guess it was pretty tidy, but this show has never been about authenticity. There's always been points where you had to suspend your disbelief.
The ending didn't really change my mind about the series one way or another, and I think people are probably going to remember the Ozymandias episode more than the finale. It's a wonderful show, but it's going to take a long time for something to top The Wire.

I would go The Wire, Deadwood, then BB. Maybe DW on top, because I am in love with Al Swearengen

Wow, I am so glad I catched up to Breaking Bad a few weeks ago, so I could watch the glory of its ending when it came out.
This was a pitch perfect ending that felt true to the series and didn't leave me hanging.
Kudos.

Definitely, but I think they did right to do it this way. Having the finale be such a rollercoaster ride as Ozymandias would have made it impossible to get the kind of emotional closure we had here.

The only thing I wish was that we knew what went down a year after the finale. There was clearly closure for the series, but there were unanswered questions. Of course, the beauty of that ending moment is that Walt would never know the answers, either... None of those qre key questions, but I'd have liked answers to some of them. I'm not sure how you'd get them out without ruining that ending, but I'd like to know.

I'm interested to see what they do with the prequel show focusing on Saul. He was a fun character.

Badger, not Beaver. I doubt he knew anything other than "point this thing when I do x".

This was Walt's story. It ended with him. He didn't have the answer to those questions when he keeled over, so we don't get them either.

Some accidents were intentional. And he knew Walt was Heisenberg and that the police wanted him bad. Regardless, it suddenly struck me that Cranston's next gig is likely to be in comedy... and that is going to be weird. I know he did MitM, but he was a 2nd tier character in that show. Next time around they'll build a comedy around him.

Cranston did comedy before Malcom in the Middle. He played the dentist on a couple of episodes of Seinfeld as well. It was weird seeing him in the Walter White role at first because of how long I'd watched him in comedy.

There are several members of the cast that were either stand-ups or comedic actors prior to the show:
Cranston Bill Burr Huell Gomie Badger

I think... no i'm sure, what makes this show so awesome is that its very "revenge of the nerds."
Walter whites goes head to head with killers and sociopaths, and manages to scrap by. How? Because no matter how ruthless, cutthroat, look-at-me-funny-and-i'll-gut-you-like-a-fish evil, they always without fail seem to just shoot walter white in the head. Pretty easy thing to do and you know they'll gleefully do it, but can never bring themselves to just do it because fuck, he's like a nerd right? no big deal, i'll monologue and threaten and prove I have bigger balls. He'll never hit back....
Great final. I mean really great final to a great show i'll only watch once. Ok...maybe twice but I'll need a vacation.

Since it's barely into the second season was anyone else actually kinda "Ha ha, that's what you get" at the asshole DEA agent that made fun of Hank for not "getting" the cartels and being sick at the sight dead snitch's head on a tortoise when he and his cronies got blown up for stupidly not following evidence procedure to humiliate him?
