Fucking autodraft... I told myself to not forget it when I did my live draft a few days ago in my other league and still I drop the ball. Drafted me 2 TEs when i don't even need one, not happy.

Goddammit, I thought I dropped all the Kickers and DEF low in my autodraft list, yet I'm still taking them in the 6th and 7th rounds. I did something wrong.
Oh well, I have no QB and an overall weak team. Le sigh. I really tried to pre-rank my players too.

Let's talk trade. Not for Brees, but Bouldin I'll consider.

I'd sure like to trade for Brees, but I got nothing to offer in return other than my sincere thanks.

With this few roster positions, it's sort of hard to work out any kind of good trades. Why did we have only one RB position?

Because no one commented on it earlier when the league was set up two months ago?

Try and name 14 quality RBs. I dare you. You cannot even do it with a list in front of you. Having just one RB spot shouldn't change the value of other RBs as far as trades go. Backups are still key. There are 5-6 quality QBs. Anyone who has one is not giving him up. There are 5-6 premier WRs. Anyone that has one is not giving him up. Trading: 1) At least 3 starting RBs won't finish the season so grab a backup now and hope he has value later. 2) You trade top tier for top tier when you think your guy has already blown his wad due to matchups. 3) I haven't seen them a lot with the f13 group, but trading a Larry Johnson for Rudi Johnson+Kevin Jones is stupid. Only one RB spot should discourage that maneuver.

Off the top of my head. I didn't even get into any of the rookies with potential, guys who could perform better, or too many guys who play in a rotation. The standard roster works because it drives strategy and tactics during the draft and forces owners who want to win to work the waiver wire and free agents during the season. Limiting the roster places too much emphasis on the draft and makes playing the game during the season relatively meaningless, while almost insuring that a single injury will ruin someone's season. Probably more than one at this point.
Changes to the standard rules usually come from people who don't do that well when playing by the standard rules, and instead of adapting and learning how to win, they assume that it's the rules themselves that are faulty and must be changed. Just saying.

Well shit, I guess I just became a huge Saints supporter. I'll never root for the Skins as a Cowboys fan, but if Portis wants to get a few garbage touchdowns on the way to a 45-24 loss, I'm game.

What the fuck. How the fucking shit do I have two kickers and two defenses? WHAT THE FUCK MAN! Edit: It could've been worse. A pretty decent TE and WR were out there, even if one has to sit out for a few games because he's a cocksucker.

Limiting the roster places too much emphasis on the draft and makes playing the game during the season relatively meaningless, while almost insuring that a single injury will ruin someone's season. Probably more than one at this point. I'm not really seeing the injury part. I woudl think that only having 1 RB slot makes a team much less likely to be sunk by an injury. With 1 RB, the median team has one of the top 14 backs as a starter, and one of the #15-28 backs as a backup. With 2, you have one of the top 14 as a starter, one of the #15-28 backs as a starter, and one of the #29-42 backs as a backup. When the inevitable ACL assplosion of your #1 back happens in our league, you replace him with Brandon Jacobs or Earnest Graham. It hurts, no doubt. But in the 2 back league your replacement is in the Jerious Norwood/Justin Fargas neighborhood, and you are utterly fucked. I don't feel very strongly either way, but I don't see it as a huge flaw. The more teams in the league, the more 1RB makes sense to me. On the "draft means everything" point, I think the relative importance of the draft vs the trade/free-agent game is based on the number of reserves you are allowed to carry more than anything else. In 18 or 20 round leagues, the draft means everything because everyone is handcuffed, and their handcuffs are handcuffed, and every potential gem is already on a roster. Bad draft = no chance. However, I may be totally wrong. In my opinion, Fantasy Football is all about talking shit with you Internet people when some-guy-I-picked-for-no-good-reason runs in an utterly meaningless TD in the last second of some blowout game I would never be watching but for the fantasy interest, allowing me to eeke out a 1 point win, thereby proving the superior length and girth of my e-football-penis to all the ladies watching. And of course whining like a bitch when the same happens to me. These things I can do with any roster configuration!

If anyone has issues with league 2's roster, let me know now.
QB WR WR RB TE WR/RB K DEF
I think this should work well for a 12 team league.

This is the first time I have ever gone with a 1 RB roster. I concede that it might be extreme because in the 12 team league I drafted for last night, the RB situation wasn't that horrible. I just had to spend more bench slots on backups.
Now, as to changing it because I suck and cannot l2p, I did win the f13 2005 season, but have never been close since. Last year I was so royally fucked by the autodraft (3 TEs!) it was almost charming, though.

You mean 06?
Anyway, at the end of day I suppose I'm a luddite about the rules, and like the importance of drafting a second RB (it's always been a potential weak spot, even in 10 team leagues). Sorry for the "people who change the rules suck at the game" comment, that was uncalled for!
In 05, I missed the first round and the comp drafted Priest Holmes. In the 2nd, I took Terrell Owens. Both missed the season. I won our league that year in no small part because I took Thomas Jones in the 8th round because he was a 20-25 touch-per-game starter and shouldn't have been available at that point. 1300 yards and 10tds later, he made up for Holmes' absence in a big way. I made up for the Owens injury/suspension by watching waivers like a hawk all season, but WR wasn't as important in a 2 RB league. If it had been a 1 RB league, the loss of Owens would have been the injury that tanked me, as everyone would have correctly stockpiled WRs. That's the injury I was talking about, not the Holmes injury.
Sorry for the rambling, just threw down a double americano and I'm not used to espresso.

It's not a terrible thing to have 1 RB, but what it does is force you to have a fucking stellar QB or you're sunk. Everyone else will just shuffle around WRs while nothing else will change. We'll all deal with the same issues, so nothing is out of whack in the competition level, but it's not a rule I'd repeat.

Small team requirements tend to favor the best drafter. Larger, more restrictive team requirements tend to favor the best manager. It's really up to you to decide how casual you want the leagues. Forcing people into tough decisions by requiring 2-3 RB and 2 QB's will test you throughout the season. Having a small roster favors casual play. Then it's really decided by injuries and sleepers.

My QB situation is a little dire, at least until Steve Smith comes back to make Jake Delhomme decent. Why I picked Jason Campbell after watching most of the 'Skins preseason games, I know not.

Zorn is going to throw the ball, so Campbell will have a chance to pile up some stats. I think he will be decent.
