Nah that's a safe road.

The dangerous ones are two way and about a foot narrower.  Top Gear did a run on them IIRC.  That's a whole lot of N.O.P.E.

There's a long road from the Himalayan mountains to the plains which is a notorious deathspot. The truckdrivers tend to coast (to save petrol) down the road at night with the lights off (to save on um.. light bulbs)  and the road down is littered with wrecks and squashed pedestrians.

Lights off when driving is pretty common in the Africa and Asia, any time I've asked it's to save on using the battery. Attempting to explain that the motor charges the battery is like to trying tell someone that they can make a cat out of everyday household objects. At best they smile and nod while thinking you're an idiot.

Well, there are situations with various problems in the electrical systems that the extra draw from running the lights actually can effect the battery being charged, so it was probably true for someone, somewhere, at some time.  And when coasting downhill with the engine off, the battery wouldn't be getting charged. But yeah, I've hit that same wall, and had to try and give a course in remedial physics to explain it, which just made them angry.

Something tells me that the anger probably comes from the possibility that you are not the most delicate individual when dealing with stupid people.

I am great at dealing with stupid people.  First, I tell them they're idiots, then I ask them if they dressed themselves that morning, and then I say "This is an alternator, it makes the magic juice..."

Okay, maybe it was me.

That is a real thing. A few 20-somethings in the office are scrawny lanky guys who have grown up with the internet and feel they can beat anyone's ass. I've always encouraged them to try, but it never escalates.

Heh, reminds me of the programmer next door. He lives, eats, and breaths the internet. He speaks to people in real life without any filter at all, just as he would on reddit or 4chan. He was down at the pool about 4 months ago and some dude bumped into him by accident with his back turned coming out of the gym. He got all up in this dude's face talking internet style shit to him, this dude even apologized to him but this kid wouldn't drop it. When the dude started to turn around and walk away to avoid trouble the kid said, "that's right faggot, walk away like a little bitch." That dude gave him one hell of a beating. That didn't change the kid's attitude even one bit though, which is a shame.

It takes balls to do this at 100km/h (downhill aero position for extra speed while leading Tour de France stage 15). It helps that the guy's name is Jack Bauer.

He was still winning with 50 metres to go, but was overtaken in the last few seconds and placed 10th.
