This is just a small section of your true, developing malady: a hatred of anyone that must call someone else for help.  That is itself a budding hatred of all people everywhere.  I'm glad I don't do phone support anymore, it erodes the soul.

My experience in desk side support has been that age isn't as great a factor as its percieved to be. For every 20 something 'administrative assistant' that blanches when I ask if they've made a back up of their document, I've met a 60-70 year old that had fairly advanced understanding of computers and networks. Baby boomers, on the other hand, have an ingrained entitlement attitude where they simply can't be bothered with computers and haven't felt any pressure to understand them. Their parents, however, come from a different generation and often enough have buckled down and can handle the machines just fine.

Me of course.  I don't care about some parentless kid who could better use a loving family well situated to give them a pleasant upbringing.  I want to retire, sip cocktails and play games all day.   I would be able to make myself useful at work on father-daughter day though.

I will say, there is one very cool thing about where I work, and that is that we have a strict policy that we consider it an action against the company if you have no idea how to use a computer, and are potentially messing up data and putting false data in the computer.

There is a rare time indeed where I can actually say I love the users I support, but I really do. Very few bad eggs.

Sprint just cancelled over a thousand accounts because they were phoning the call centre too often.  Heh.

This is not anywhere near as messed up as some of the strange business choices in Sprint's history. The Nextel merger and rebranding Sprint to look more like Nextel probably hurt them more than this will.

Sprint just made a bad PR move on this by announcing the cancellations.

My wife finally got all of the hardware in and we now have a more professional torch setup in our bedroom, a propane/oxygen setup with two tanks and hoses.  I just tightened up everything and sprayed it with soapy water, and she proceeded to make three glass beads in about fifteen minutes which are currently annealing in the kiln.
