Both my in-laws will be at my place in a week. Maybe I'll try some random nudity.

I own 3 or 4 suits...not sure I can fit any of them anymore, as I no longer really have the opportunity to wear them. I think it's the kind of thing you have to get used to. It may suck for the longest while, but eventually you begin to realize that suits are cool. It was extra cool when I was a smoker, too. Suits and smoking are the height of cool.
When I worked at Bang & Olufsen, I had to wear a suit every day. It was fucking great. There was a cigar shop you could smoke in (in Pentagon City no less!) and 3 of us would go over there during lunch. Good times.

Physiologically speaking, it's better to wear long sleeves and pants in hot weather. It slows the rate of evaporation and helps sweat do a better job of cooling.
In the south you'll see people wearing suits all summer long.
Ok, I'll bite. I thought evaporation was exactly how sweat cools the body, so wouldn't dressing up in layers of clothing impede that? I always thought you needed to cover up to avoid sunburn, not to stay cool.

My guess is that if the sweat is there for a wee while it has time to be warmed up by the body and evaporate as opposed to immediately being whumphed by harsh sunlight and so not drawing off as much body heat. This is all based on very rudimentary physics and biology though so it could be somewhat off base.

Just guessing, but it sounds like that might work well in dry areas where sweat evaporating too fast might be less efficient. Might also help with dehydration? I'm skeptical it would work as well in tropical environments were sweat is already being produced faster than it can evaporate due to the high humidity (ie: Florida). I could be wrong, though.

You are correct. From a survival standpoint, particularly in cold or damp weather, you want to have dry, covered skin. In arid environments, sweat evaporates too quickly due to the reasons stated above. In cold climates, becoming damp is a death sentence. In the jungle or high humidity, the rules change as well. Interesting stuff.

Tell me about it. Did you all hear about those 4 guys who went missing in the Gulf a couple of weekends ago? The one college kid who didn't make it was a very good friend of the son of my boss. They played football together for the Bulls. One of the things I heard (and correct me if this is wrong) is that water is so efficient at lowering your body temperature that they'd get hypothermia much faster in the 60 degree water than trying to stay out of the water on the capsized boat in the 40 degree air. That's convection for you.

I have that phone as well. I think it absolutely stinks, but then, I paid full price for it. At 80% off, I might have a different opinion of it.

Is that because it's only worth 80% or less than what they charge for it anyway? Isn't B&O products fancy on the outside and very mundane on the inside?

Yes, yes, yes and yes. They are presumably expensive because they are made by hand (at least, that is formerly B&O's claim, and I'm assuming it still is). I've always thought their stuff was ass. Occasionally smart-looking ass.

Their stuff is gorgeous, a lot of their tech is pooooooop. The phone is decent but you have to hold it with your hand, holding it with your ear and shoulder just don't work. It's exceptionally clear when positioned right due to the type of speaker in it. I happen to love it but then I used it every day for over a year while working there since it was the in store phone.
But if you're going to spend money to look good, I'd spend it on B&O before Bose.

Who the hell wants technology made by hand? Give me a precision robot in a sterile factory able to solder a board or place a chip on a board with nano precision ANY DAY over Paco El Tech Worker du Jour scratching his ass before getting his paws on my overpriced piece of equipment.

Righ and I lived in a house for a couple of years. The man who owned the place left behind all his high end B&O stuff. Kitchen, dining room, master bedroom, living room and the outside patio was wired with it. Stereo, TVs, all sorts of stuff. He must have spent a fortune. We knew we didn't want to use it but Righ being Righ, peeked inside the stereo and tv. What was inside was a load of crap. The outside was very fancy, although not our type of stuff. We put it all aside and used our own. Like suits and fancy frocks, it all seemed a bit posey to me.

Hmm, didn't Patrick Bateman have a B&O stereo? Or was it a Bose? Is this thread going circular on us?

B&O corded phones have amazing clarity, and my cordless units have held up well over the almost a decade that I have had them. Colour coded phones are easier to keep track of too.
I have had a few of the smaller stereos they produced, still have the limited edition Beosound1 in my office in fact. I have never liked their headphones though, the larger audio setups are stupidly expensive and their TVs are so overpriced I am amazed they ever sell.
If I had known about the 80% discount back in the day, I would have been your number one phantom customer.

Ironically, the only thing I got at all was the phone. Sure, I wanted some other stuff, but it was all unnecessary. I could easily get a job there again if I wanted to buy that stuff though. Anyway, this is not an economy to be working in a commission based high-end sales job.

So I'm stuck in northern MA. for the week with my work laptop. So I installed that free MMOG to play Runes of Magic this week. I'm now sitting in my hotel room, bored, there is no bar here and the fucking patcher is shitting the bed and not patching. Giving me file errors.
Fuck.
edit:
And the internet is ass here too. Fucking Marriots.

Yeah, people think that a job where you travel around, especially to foreign countries, is in some way glamourous or interesting. It's fine on those rare occasions where you are in a city like Rome and you finish work in plenty of time to have a look around from a city-centre hotel (in that case, the St Regis Grand ftw), but when it is some anonymous identikit box in bloody Reading or Slough... Many are the hours of Championship Manager or Hearts of Iron that I played in such situations.
