That's actually not what they are doing in this show.

~a horrific, dark simulacrum that glares balefully at us, with evil intent.

Um, I am an episode behind, but the last episode was literally the entire cast in a mental hospital, playing the roles of long-term patients there. Now I guess it's David creating it all and not just a Buffy-esque illusion but the effect to the viewer was the same.

I love everything about this show. I am ecstatic they renewed it.

Yeah, even if they manage to completely mess up the last episode (and I doubt that), it's still possibly the best live action "superhero" show ever, and a damn great show in general.

I'm actually bummed they info dumped in that episode. I liked everything being vague and wtf. Then for some reason 'ok, here's everything that's been going on spelled out for you now.'

Bah.

Show is still amazing, but I feel that weakened things quite a bit and took a lot of the surreal feeling out of it.

Nice 'They Live' nod, though again, kinda ham-fisted and immersion breaking. Amazing they got so far into it before upsetting the psychedelia cart, though.

edit: the Parks & Rec chick has been redonkulously good in this show

Shit yes. This is the only other thing I've seen her in other than P&R and I really hope it leads to a lot more work for her.

I only recognized her as a background character in Scott Pilgrim.

Aubrey Plaza was also in two of the past years better comedy films, Mike & Dave Need Wedding Dates and Dirty Grandpa, both of which were worth watching/funny as well as featuring her in skimpy outfits. ;)

That was brilliant. So unusual too, in many ways. Looking forward to second season immensely, and also looking forward to watching this again sometime between now and then.

Finally got to binge watch to the end of this season.

HOLY. SHIT.

I kind of knew who the villain was the entire time, I just wasn't sure they were going to use him/it. Aubrey Plaza KILLED IT but then just about everyone else did pretty good too. This is one of the trippiest, most amazing visual accomplishments I've ever seen, from all the different design aesthetics that somehow mesh to the uses of black and white and the different film techniques. It was wonderful and dreamy and yet still made sense once it all got explained. I thought the info dump was terribly necessary but also really well done - it might have been a little wordy but that was probably necessary for the average viewer.

Between this, Feud, Archer and Always Sunny, the FX/FXX networks are just beating the pants off every other network except maybe HBO.

You forgot Fargo, which imo bumps FX over HBO.  Also I thought man seeking woman was funnier than archer and sunny.

I did forget to mention Fargo. Same showrunner as Legion and I think he really outdid himself. So yes, FX wins. Actually, we all win because two networks producing so much good content in addition to Netflix and Amazon Prime means that there's more great TV to watch than time to watch it.

Sucked this whole thing down in two days and I loved it.  For a huge variety of reasons, most of which are mentioned here.

However, Question :

I haven't read Legion in literally years - but wasn't he ACTUALLY Schizophrenic ?  Did they just dump that shit ?

Yes, in the original, I think he was schizo, though he did have the Shadow King controlling him as well.

I think at the time the character was created Dissociative Identity Disorder and Schizophrenia were still largely being conflated.
