Yeah it's a sore spot of mine. I honestly think those kind of people get off on the power-trip of telling people what to do in a game and it annoys me. It really has little to do with the points you were making which were in fact all valid if that style motivates you to victory.

Currently, I think he's trying to teach the raid: "When I call a wipe, please do not run over the FD'd hunters. They will not thank you for the repair bill. Just unequip and die, please."
Fuck that.  Panzy ass hunters can take it like a man / woman and die like the rest of us.

In the Hunters defense, our 'locks are retards and we only drop our pussy-ass serpent stings on there when it appears the warlocks have completely forgotten the existance of their DoTs.

Yours too, huh?  Good to know it's a more universal problem.  We got on the warlock leader's case about it once, and he started bitching about resists and mana cost of recasts, recast time etc, etc.  It was the most pointless argument I can remember us having to date.

That was a rhetorical question.  I am aware not all raiding guilds are like this and the quotes are cherry-picked.  I didn't think green was needed.  My mistake.

Given the local psudo-intellectuals and their recent "DIKU-LOLZ NOOBLARS!" (i'm paraphrasing) attitudes, I've been a bit defensive of my playstyles.   :-D

I'd rather follow directions given from a guy like that above - assuming he knows what he's doing, naturally - than some humorless pencildick who doesn't really have a clue how to lead a raid.

Being abusive without being funny, though - no thank you.  But with the funny?  I don't mind, as long as the guy knows his shit.

This is killing me.  My two friends just quit again. They can't stand being easy targets in PVP and they can't reconcile that a big part of that is their pre-MC level gear.  I can't find a casual guild, consisting of mainly mature individuals that likes to PVP as a team on occasion.  And that plays during my current time frame. And that doesn't have a completely retarded guild name.  Sorry, I'm not joining "Generous Package".  I'd like to raid, but I know I can't.

I'd say, "hey", but we're more PvP-focused then PvE. But... at least our name isn't "LAWL Honor Cap" any more, so that's gotta be worth something :P!

I agree. I'm not half as sensitive as you guys seem to be. Plus I rarely fuck up so when I do I like ot have it pointed out so I can get better. People who can't hadle criticism just because it has a few swear words in there give me the shits much more than someone giving me shit.

However it it's not with reaons and no funny it's just abuse, which I do agree there is no place for.

It's not the swear words that bother me, it's the fact that the guy genuinely seems to be insulting and demeaning to the people who are supposed to be his allies.  I've never raided; I don't understand half the crap he's bitching about in there.  But taken out of context (the way it's presented here) it looks a lot like one of those IT guys who will jump down your throat because you don't already know everything they do.  Maybe his guild knows not to take him seriously.  Maybe he thinks that flipping out and insulting people is hilarious.  But stuff like this (like that whole "More Dots!" thing that was floating around a while back) really reinforces the whole "So, once I get to level sixty, there's nothing for me to do but get yelled at by jackasses like this?  And I pay a subscription fee for such a privilege?"  kind of feeling.

That sort of statement about raid leaders is kinda like saying everyone that plays DAoC is gonna scream "I own the fucking VN boards" when they get pissed off.

Still, it's important to find out what kind of leader you like. One of my friends would only go on a raid with his guild if the guild leader (or I) was leading the raid, he just couldn't stand the rest of the leadership of the guild. When I was third-string raid leader for my Alliance guild, I'd tend to get comments about my leadership style versus the guild leader's or main tank's, some folks liked mine better, some didn't. (I tended to run a looser ship, which the guys liked because the guild leader was running us like a kindergarten by the time I left.)

I mean, good raiders are not really easy to find, and raiding guilds are rather common. It may take a while to find a leadership style you happen to like, but if you work well with your raid leader, and the rest of the guild is good, you'll have a hell of a time raiding.

You know, I just realised that quite a few of the comments were whispers.  That pretty much takes it out of 'public lighthearted fun' to 'Stop harrassing me you fucking cunt'.

That's how I'd feel anyways.

Looks like a private channel similar in color to default /tell.

There's often a need for both pressure and humour when you're three hours into some ass encounter, and this is often the result.  Personally, I think it's hilarious.  Interestingly, my guild would probably find this fella offensive, but we are brutally cruel to one another as well- just differently.  I imagine the exact approach varies a lot from guild to guild.

My guild was never like that but i certainly wouldn't mind a having a guy like that lead our raids, ill take one guy being an asshole over wiping to a mob we had on farm status three months ago because people cant be bothered to pay attention any day of the week.  My guild was extremely laid back and casual friendly, we got very far being laid back and casual friendly but eventually we hit a wall.  There was just no way we could progress any farther with the attitude we had and the people we had and a month of no progress followed by a month of backwards progress pretty much killed the guild.  We killed razuvius in naxx and huhuran in AQ, a month later we couldn't finish BWL, today the few people that are left do only pvp.

As a raid leader, I wouldn't want to be in a raid lead in that manner, nor lead a raid in that manner. Maybe it's just a matter of degree, and people in raids I help lead do get yelled at, but I feel a line is crossed when you systematically and continually make it clear to people that they aren't valuable. Fact is that at the higher levels of raiding, it really does take quite a like of skill and experience to perform adequately. The people that are in your raid are not worthless or stupid or incompetent, if you've done a good job recruiting and filtering your roster. Either he's insulting people who deserve better treatment than that, or he is the one who failed his guild for doing a bad job of building a good roster.

As I said, there is a place for people to get heat for making mistakes. People need to be able to take responsibility for their actions when they make mistakes or simply give a poor performance. If the leadership doesn't hold people responsible for these things, then they usually continue doing them and degrading the quality of the raid. There's a difference between berating and talking down to someone and making them feel heat for doing a poor job. It's the difference between attacking a person and attacking a person's actions.

The guy is hilarious though. Many of those lines I can tell what fight he was on, or just the general concern. Every guild has the same problems more or less. It makes me laugh to read some of that because I know there was probably a time I thought roughly what he said to his raid.

Illiadin is more like a character from bad, first-time RPer who tries to justify a ludicrously powerful twink by giving it some lame background.  A really bad RPer.

Hahahaha!  I'm really good at this!

From some one on the wow forums.

Quote
Furor the red-faced warrior
Had a bent out of shape nose
In case you never saw it
Let me tell you how it goes

All of the hybrid classes
Used to tank his raids
They never took poor Furor
They avoided him like AIDS

Then one fateful day you see
Blizzard came to say
Furor with your rants so hot
Help design our game, we'll pay a lot

Then all the raid leads loved him
And he shouted out with glee
I'm Furor the red-faced warrior
The only viable tank is ME!
