Hah, Microsoft seems to have slapped an extra 30€ on the XBone price in Finland, so it's now 399€ PS4 and 529€ XBone.
edit: looks like the same on PS4, so it'll be 429€. Good old Finland, always finding ways to deflate sales across the board.
I think you can thanks TEOSTO/Gramex for that. For once Microsoft (and Sony) are innocent

This story just keeps on giving. Wonder what happens if your Xbox One live account get's banned? You forfeit all of your games that are tied to the account. http://i.imgur.com/fWpJY1n.pngSo your fancy >1000$ game lib just went away just because someone claimed you called him a dick over voice chat. Lets be fair here. All digital distortion models except Apples are like this. The same can happen with Steam. It's the second biggest reason why I'm so against them. I've been burned before, having lost money when music match jukebox went under. (Right of first sale is my biggest reason.)

What's that, foul mouthed online harassing 12 year olds? You just lost your entire game library. Plus I guess anyone who gets accidentally caught in a dragnet of some kind or if one random dude swaps a digit.

They missed a really important bit (talking about echo chamber) and that is that the Xbox One is basically an Xbox USA. Every feature is entirely focused on the realities of the US games and TV market.
It's worse than that. It's not just the USA but specifically larger market areas in the US. There's probably 5 cities in the state of Mississippi that could take advantage of all the TV shit they packed in there and that's only if you have certain Internet providers. In the places where broadband is still overly expensive or just not available (which is most of rural Mississippi), there's just not one good goddamn reason to buy it. I realize no one gives a fuck about rural America in this occasion, but it's not a good idea to build something that probably 20-30% of the population can't use, even those who can afford it.

Every feature is entirely focused on the realities of the US games and TV market. Most of the One's features only make sense if you are in the US (or don't even there). Some only matter for US costumers (cable boxes and controlling them, fantasy football for example) and many features probably will never work outside the US if the 360 is any indication.
Don't 360's pretty much sell like shit outside of the U.S. and U.K.? Not really all that surprising they're taking a narrow focus with the Xbone.

Xbox 360:
Total sales: 77 million North America: 44 million Europe: 25 million Rest of World: 6 million
PS3:
Total sales: 77 million (although it launched a year later than the 360) North America: 27 million Europe: 30 million Japan: 9 million Rest of World: 11 million
Wii: Total sales: 100 million North America: 44 million Europe: 33 million Japan: 12 million Rest of World: 11 milion.
Yes North America (US and Canada) is the largest market but Europe bought 88 million consoles if you add up all sales and 1/3rd of all Xbox 360 sales went to Europe. Note also that the PS3 already caught up to the 360 even though it launched a year later.
If MS thinks that it can ignore 1/3rd of its potential customers then more power to them. Business-wise I think it would be a bad move though.
BTW XBox (original) Total sales: 24 m NA: 15m Europe: 7m Rest: 2m

1/3 of all 360 sales went to Europe yes, but if I'm not mistaken the majority of those were sold in the UK as opposed to the rest of Europe where the 360 did not fare so well.

Is the UK suddenly some kind of 51st state of the US?
Most of the Xbones features won't work in the UK too at launch.
Current numbers put the UK lifetime sales at 8 million which means that 17 million were not sold to the UK.

A nation consists of its laws. A nation does not consist of its situation at a given time. If an individual's morals are situational, then that individual is without morals. If a nation's laws are situational, that nation has no laws, and soon isn't a nation. -William Gibson

There's also some more Wii U games on there that should be flagged as such, like Watch Dogs, and it leaves off the third party Wii U exclusives, like Bayonetta 2 and Deus Ex: Director's Cut.

It leaves off the third party stuff because barring some miraculous change the Wii u is dead. It's also not competing with the two new consoles - its a current generation console with a tablet and not a next gen machine. Still astonished at how badly Nintenod have screwed up with the Wii u. Don't know if its arrogance or ignorance, and maybe they can turn it around like the 3DS but the sales figures for it have been nothing short of appalling. Even Ubisoft are now reducing their output for the console and they have been Nintendos best third party supporters.

As long as Nintendo keeps putting out quality first party titles, along with having the lowest cost console compared to the other two, Nintendo will still be in money hats. I suspect that we'll see some unannounced holiday pricing shenanigans as well.

Wii U is also attractive for guys like me who don't play consoles much anymore but have kids that want to play. Last time I played the PS3 was almost a year ago now, but I'm not letting my 10 year old play God of War, Bro-shooter #3000 or Gory Bro Shooter #2904. Guess which console I'll be buying first when the Holidays come 'round.

+1. Neither PS4 nor Xbone want nor care about the underage crowd. Nintendo's where its at, and will keep it that way for a while to come.

Nintendo also had a fairly shocking amount of indie titles on display at E3 this year as well. Some sites and Youtube channels that cover indie games were saying that they felt Sony pretty much had indie devs on a lock when they strolled by Nintendo's booth, only to see more indie titles than even Sony had.
It's kind of crazy, and mind-boggling that they're not marketing this more.

As anything with waggle-waggle support was shovel-ware on the Wii, Indie is the new shovel-ware for Wii U.

What amazes me is the group of people who called Wii waggle a gimmick but who are gung-ho for Kinect to be a base part of the XB1. Cross-platform games will have the same problem on XB1 that the Wii had - the waggle bits were totally tacked-on and not a key part of the development.

That's going to be the least of Xbone's problems, but I agree that the waggle shit will be awful shovelware for it.
It's a stupid feature I never actually expect to catch on.

They announced at E3 that PS4 and XBone players would be cloistered on their own servers, like Defiance. Mac and PC players will be together on a third set of servers.

Please just let steambox actually be workable and crush them before they eventually pull their heads out of their asses. I want Valve setting the foundation and laws of digital only consoles, not MS.
Steam box is dead on arrival. Think even Valve are giving up on the idea. Unless that's official, a silent Valve means nothing until next year this time. Right now all the attention is on MS and Sony, and between them, the amount of money they'll spend on advertising will exceed the GDP of half the countries in the world. Valve can't compete on that level, so better for them to wait until after the holidays, say, March time frame when the early crush bought the consoles but have little to play on them. Wishful thinking sure, but I figure if they say nothing for nine more months, that doesn't mean it's dead. Until then, it's the next console I am interested in.

This is why I have always owned Nintendo products. Very good for family play with the 4 player support built in all the way back to the Nintendo 64. The games are usually also family friendly with fun racing games like Mario Kart and RPGs like Legend of Zelda. I guess I have never played games to play by myself in my household.

10 Year old can't play Bro-Shooter #3000? Why not? When I was 10 I was playing Bro Shooter 1 & 2 (Wolfenstein and Doom).
