Also a primarily PC gamer.  Given current data, should I decide to buy a console in the future it's a PS4 without hesitation.

Trailers you should watch if you skipped the press boondoggles.

Destiny: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WBNdrJMwrkc
Ended up playing like Borderlands, looking like Halo, and feeling like MAss Effect. That I want to play team Halo's newest game surprises me greatly.

The Devision: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O_j9uKBmUEk&feature=youtu.be
Three posts up. Look like a great near future TPS/MMO/Thing.

Battlefield Cuatro: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3nJY7n8KaOY&feature=player_embedded
Looks like a good return to form after the misstep that was BF3.

Final Fantasy Versus 13 15!: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P3xKbPooKAo
Final Fantasy the TPS? Sure, why not.

Thanks for this. Surprised a little that the Titanfall video wasn't included on this rundown, it had a lot of stuff even past giant robots that looked cool.

Indie devs don't really have access to the Wii or WiiU in the same way they have on iOS/Android or PS3/4/Vita.

I can't speak to much else, but Nintendo has actually been reaching out toward indie devs for the past few months now, though I doubt they're going to do the level of moneyhatting that Sony's doing for PSN.

Why you wouldn't want to embrace smaller developers and profit on them doing all the work is a mystery to me.

So as of right now, what do you, the unwashed masses of F13, plan to buy, if anything?
I have a PC. Why do I need to buy either console? See what I did there?
Same. These consoles still use controllers. Therefore I need neither.

And I'll just hold my breath in the hopes Division comes to PC. Couldn't care less about Tom Clancy, though am curious they trotted it out again. What was the last decsade he wrote something that was actually noteworthy?

But I do smirk every time I see a press release about Tom Clancy's whatever. Their trademark makes it impossible for them to write a grammatically correct sentence. "The game is the latest title set in the Tom Clancy’s™ universe..."  awesome, for real

Some games are better with mouse/keyboard but fuck I think it's used as a crutch waaaaay too much. Controllers make designers streamline their ui or amount of buttons and I've played far too many pc games that thought using every goddamn button on the keyboard somehow made it better.

Oh I don't disagree. I'm not even an outlier on any demographers piechart for these games so shouldn't be designed for by any team on any level. And Keyboard/mouse leads to lazy UI. Controllers have benefited PC games because of the cleaner UXes they require.

I just simply don't give a shit about controllers. I tried to once. On PC, the only games I found better with controllers were from developers who completely phoned in the PC port. Controller games have gotten a lot better, but in large part because they tuned the game around the controller rather than the controller being a fundamentally superior control system.

Keyboard/mouse suck just as much of course. I'm just more used to it, and by the time they start making PC games, we'll all be wearing our screens anyway.

MS and Sony have decided to trade places this generation, I see. Perhaps the X360 business is going so well that MS didn't want it cannibalised too quickly and this is what we ended up with.

Regardless, I'll look at the Xbone at Xmas time next year and see what's shaken out. I like my X360 and want to keep the account going. Until then, I've got plenty of good titles to pick up at a discount.

Sorry RK but either you don't play pc games(I know I know...) or you are just really out of it if you don't think a lot of games don't have bloated control schemes. Some games can get away with 100 button presses, most should not have near that many.

Controller friendly UI ported mindlessly across to the PC are some of the most immense abominations there are. The Borderlands inventory scheme, the entire defiance UI, so many others... dreadful. And on a PC massively inferior to using the mouse for selection. Likewise the number of games where the powers must be limited to only a tiny handful to fit on the controller.

But a PC gamer gets to pick. I happily use controllers on games that do well with it and a game-pad for most others.

Australian pricing I've seen for Xbone vs PS4 only puts $50 difference between the two i.e. $600 vs $550. Interesting.

Well I just got back. Going to make a new thread with impressions. My impressions are always dead on (I called Crackdown 2 being awful) so pay attention to them!

If other people who went want to share impressions in that thread feel free.

Here's the short version: Bayonetta 2 made sweet love to my eyeballs.

Any MMO ever? Look if you need "I" to open inventory "C" to open character panel "D" to open dungeon menu "P" to open pet window....etc,etc,etc

You are simply going down the list of keys and assigning shit to it instead of thinking of fast efficient ways for your ui to either show or give access to something. It's just simple bloat.

That is fast and efficient. It's not necessarily intuitive and easy to remember but that's not the point. If you are spending hundreds of hours playing the game it's all about efficiency.

Seriously, I understand the efficiency aspect but what it breeds is laziness.  I'm sorry some people can't see that but some people love spreadsheet games and it's not really an argument that registers in their heads.

Well you'll probably don't let it count anyway because PC > console in your mind so you'll find a way to turn it so that PC is still 'better'/efficient whatever.

All I can say is that I want to dick punch every developer that pushes the inane WASD control scheme on me. That is the simple biggest design fail in the history of ever.

I don't mind using the keyboard to give me shortcuts to functions, spells or anything and the mouse is the best device for aiming or moving your view around (at least until someone does a perfect WiiMote-like device) but WASD is simply stupid and every developer that does it needs to reevaluate his life.

I like controllers because it's way easier to manage your movement and your viewpoint on a dual analog stick controller as it can ever be on a WASD + mouse or mouse control scheme.

If I had to choose between accurate aim and WASD and less accurate aim but dual analog controller I'd always choose dual analog controllers because at least that scheme doesn't give me carpal tunnel.

The Wii scheme - if the aiming was much more accurate would have been perfect if you can live with the limited number of buttons.

Also if your game needs more than 10 shortcuts and you are not a competitive multiplayer game (like an MMO or RTS) you're doing it wrong

I was going to say it's subjective... but that's flat out wrong.
