How do you pick flowers and such?  I can't seem to figure out how to gather stuff.

If it's a pickable flower, e.g. Heartflower, then you just press E. If it's name has a grey bar under it then attack it to harvest whatever it contains, e.g. cotton. If there's no name above it then it's just scenery.

Quick tip, there's no v-sync option. Might want to force it in your driver options to prevent your vidcard from melting. I was getting 100+ fps at 2560x1440, all detail at max.

Just tamed a sheep! You go up to the potential pet, open inventory and right-click a foodstuff. Cotton candy worked for me to tame the sheep :)

I'm having problems updating the game.  I can't log in. Heartbreak  Good thing I'm off work for the next 10 days.

Edit: and it looks like I got my beta invite for Card Hunter today too.  I couldn't have timed my leave better.

Wood comes from bushes (you attack them and they can drop 1-3 wood)

There is a rumor going around that there is a way to modify the server.exe file to allow for however many players you want in a multiplayer game.  Anyone know anything?

I created a 2nd world with the multiplayer option and named it "f13?" I'm not sure how to invite others to play on it though. there did not seem to be a server browser or anything.

You have to run the server (it is in the Cube World folder) and then share the IP of the machine running it with us.

ok, I think I have a server up and the correct port forwarding. Someone see if they can join me.

*edit*

had to take server down, computer was seeing massive CPU temperature increases. I noticed pretty large spikes when starting up and generating new chunks of the map on single player, but once generated the temp came back down to normal. When attempting to run a server, it just kept climbing up and up.

Buy Cubeworld, HOORAY!

You must be logged in.  Ok.

Also, it seems like the game is making people's GPUs run very hot.  If you have any software that lets you cap your framerate, I suggest capping around 90 or so.

This could be a problem, I can't get the framerate to cap at all.

It ignores the Nvidia global force v-sync setting, it ignores setting an override for cube.exe, whatever I do it runs at 100-150 fps, spiking up to stupid numbers in loading/menus - like 1400 fps.

I would suggest keeping an eye on GPU temps while playing this and taking regular breaks to let the GPU cool down if it's getting too hot.

So good news: This is pretty adorable and has glimpses of fun.
Bad News: It's pretty empty and has none of the lego-y bits of Minecraft. In fact, it kinda feels like a Minecraft mod with a lot of the fun of Minecraft removed.

Yeah, I was hoping for a bit more of this.  It looks like bombs can destroy (some?) rocks.  And "Player Housing" is listed under future features on the website, so hopefully  more of it gets patched in as we go.

Still having a bunch of fun with this for now.

The game is basically exactly what truly open world Zelda would feel like. Which, as it turns out, isn't that fun. Loot is worse than Diablo 3.

You find house parts as loot, and basically pre-fab them together.

I don't get why people are putting this in the same category as minecraft. There is some crafting, but it's more of a procedural open world rpg than a builder.

I like it. Combat got a bit better when my warrior switched to dual swords. It's a bit grindy. I could take on bats for 1xp each, and the uncommon humanoid solo for maybe 3xp.

Finally got enough iron to make the one piece of armor I can craft (chest). Went in search of the big crossed-swords event area, and it's a lake, so I spent some time taking out crabs and spitters (using a little camp as a base to sleep and conserve regen items), hitting level 2. Getting that jump attack is HUGE, finally something that does decent damage. Then after circling the lake twice, realized the boss was IN the lake, no penalty for adventuring underwater (other than slow movement). Cool. On the other hand, ouch. Far from ready to take on the event boss, I guess it's tuned for group play?

I've been munching pineapple slices to regen, where do you get glass bottles to make potions? Also, all the recipes in the city I spawned near are power 25 (I have power 5 at level 2). Are recipes drops? I'm assuming so, since there were only a couple usable by warriors.

A ton of the tuning is for group play. Basically you're either a mage or grouping. I'm enjoying it so far, but for what it is. An open world random RPG. It's pretty awesome at being that, though it needs better ways to level than the early levels of finding sheep to beat up.

Glass bottles are sold from a vendor.  The are 2cp each, so dirt cheap.  You can put water in them by standing in any water source and opening the crafting menu.

As I said, I found bats to be easy but slow. I didn't think to kill a sheep :) The bats were handily right there in the caves where I was looking for ore.

Then the crabs, which were also easy mobs. As a dual-wield zerker, I was pulling 3-4 at a time and using the spin attack to keep a couple staggered. The spitters were a bit trickier before I unlocked the jump attack at level 2.

Mal, thanks. I must've missed that vendor.

Re: empty world. It IS an alpha of a two-person project :)

That said...if someone wants to get a server set up cough BW cough

edit: confirming recipes as drops, just got iron boot recipe

Honestly, this should've been built from the ground up as a massively multiplayer self-hosted thing.

Edit: Sky, the fact it's an RPG (in alpha) made by 2 people has nothing to do with why it's empty. It's procedural. Density of content has nothing to do with how many people made it.

Invested in Hexxit, and would like to let this game stew for a bit longer. But its all ready planned.
