Same deal with the chef, and the science, tactical, and engineering officers.  They give you access to shit you could access if you were anywhere else in the game besides the starbase.

Huh. I just worked out today that I didn't have to visit the tailor to change uniforms. Also, sadly, I found out the starbase does NOT stock consoles.

I was looking at the Romulan and Omega ship sets --- console/weapons stuff, mostly. Any thoughts on those? The Romulan set looked interesting. (I'm working to gain Tier IV on both of them now. Just got Tier 3 a few days ago.).

I also just learned those pet epohhs I'm breeding can apparently be turned in for Romulan marks. Awesome.

Well I'm building up the rom set for my kling engineer. The Reman shield set is not great unless you are looking at using High yield plasma torpedos, but the parts are really good for a cloaking ship, and the engine is very maneuverable. And the Bortas'que looks fantastic with the reman shield on.  Oh ho ho ho. Reallllly?

I played around with the sets on tribble tonight, and I have to say that I was pretty thrilled with the solid wall of plasma I was able to kick out with the rapid fire plasma launcher, and the omega launcher.  Oh ho ho ho. Reallllly?

The big advantage of the Maco set is one of the best shields in the game, fast travel speed in sector space and the 2 parts bonus is one of the few things now that increases your power regeneration.

As for the consoles, I like the rom set but you are locking yourself into using plasma weapons if you use it. Nothing wrong with plasma weapons as such though.

I've got the MACO shield right now (Mark X, I think), the Assimiliated Engine (it's what I could get and I really wanted to go faster) and want the MACO deflector pretty badly. I'm pretty happy with my beams + photon torpedo setup, though.

I really need to do something about my consoles, though. It's kinda slapdash, especially the science ones. I've also got some weird warp plasma eject or something AoE console in the bank. Think it came from a lockbox.

The Romulan sets are nice, but very focused, like Sir T said.  If you are using or planning to use plasma weaponry, they are quite nice.  Otherwise, MACO is your best bet.  I do dig the looks of the Reman shield above all others, though.

I'm guessing that console you mentioned is the Vent Theta Radiation one?  It's fun to use in specific scenarios, mainly stfs, but I don't use it much otherwise.  Against the big stuff like tactical cubes and assimilated carriers, I like to do one pass with the theta radiation to kill the shields, then a second pass with Eject Warp Plasma to melt the hull.  For science consoles in general, it varies a lot what consoles to use depending on how you play your ship, but I try to have a field generator console on every ship.  I'll grab you one if they are too pricey for you.  Let me know.

Sir T, I hadn't even thought about using those torpedo launchers TOGETHER.  That sounds... just lovely.

I'm currently sporting four science ones -- one's +shield regen, one's +graviton generators (I use Gravity Well a lot), one's +internial dampners (the Assimilated Engine turns like shit), and I think the last is +power insulation or something.

My tactical slots are +phaser and +photon torpedo, and I think I have the bouncy ball of doom universal in there. (Whatever that chain lightning looking thing is).

Unless you're running a torpedo boat, all of your tac slots should be +phaser.  Also, ditch the intertial dampeners and the power insulators and go with the chain lightning and field generator.  I know the borg engine isn't the most maneuverable, but the benefit from that console isn't worth the slot.  If you really want more maneuverability, get an RCS console.  I think I have an extra one of those.  I'll check my bank this evening.

Gravity well + Isometric Charge = DRILLING AND MANLINESS

Not a torpedo boat. 2 beam arrays and one photon torpedo in the front, same in the back.

Oh it was just superb, and with the speed bonus from the Reman set I was laughing manically at the fast moving wall of plasma and the resulting explosions  DRILLING AND MANLINESS

The winter event is working out for me. Got my skating boots, a nanopulse lirpa (which is an upgrade over what I had, plus somewhat cool looking), some clothes and an avalanche gun, and the epohh pets can get turned into Romulan marks. (Already made 200 off one I had two fully upgraded ones of).

Getting the Epohh tags is a bit of a PITA, but the winter turn-in stuff is a lot easier once I learned that a critical success on any winter doff assignment (other than the epohh ones) rewarded you with varied items. That plus hitting the occasional snowman has worked out pretty easily.

Don't think I'm gonna bother with the Snowman pet, but I'm trying to acquire more tags. Getting 6 to make a pet is a pain, but each of those pets -- with a day or two of  doff work, is 100 to 200 romulan marks which beats the heck out of doing those damn tholian missions over and over.

YOu can trade in the Epohhs you get on new romulus as well. Its best to get a team together for the Chasing the epohhs part though as everyone on the teams score is added together so you get more tags.

Haven't been to New Romulus yet. :) I'm still trying to decide what to do with the extra holiday stuff -- trade them in for latinum bars, I think.

Since those Andorian beads are the real limiter on buying anything, I'll probably snap up a few coats or scarves until I'm out of them and put them on the Exchange right after the holidays. The coats are running for about 1.6 million, which isn't bad.

Wow.  My science consoles are useless. :( I have, in the bank, a Theta Radation Vent console and a Graviton Pulse Generator -- worth slotting in or not?

I'm looking at the Borg and Reman universal consoles.

All the pulse thing does is slow things in front of you down for 8 seconds. The Borg console might be better than that. You can still get it from the Mission "Assimilated" so you can save your dil and marks.

I thought they removed the Borg console from that mission?

Nope  Ohhhhh, I see. I did it after the patch and out popped a luverly borg console, I believe if you don't see it the first time you redo the mission and ITS BAAAAACK!!  Oh ho ho ho. Reallllly? They also haven't removed the reman shield from Colluseum

Morat just skip through the episodes till you get to that mission and then go back and do the missions if you want to do the storyline. They will remove that console eventually, so you might as well get it now.

Won't let me skip to the end. Apparently each episode only unlocks if you've completed the one before it. i can't even start the undine episode arc.

Nope. All you have to do is the first part of the Borg arc, where you go to Gamma Draconis. You have to do that one for some reason to open up Gamma Draconis.

There are plenty of ship tokens in the store, and a handful of refits unlocked.  They are rather expensive though, and are per character unlocks.  The ships themselves are nice, just pricey.

The ships are basically upgraded versions of the standard ships upgraded to close to tier 5 level. They are nice but you better look closely at the stats before you buy one. I got a Fleet Nova as I think its one of the nicest looking ships in the game, but I found it just didn't have the hitpoints to be Battle ready.

You can have a look at the base stats of the ships and compare them here.

Dang, getting low on money again. I've had Omega and Romulan missions running constantly, and that adds up. I've only been doing Winter Events and some PvE stuff.

On the bright side, I should have enough extra components to put some costume parts from the Winter Holiday on the market, but that's not until after it's over. :(

I guess I'll run space PvE missions. You can scare up a good 100k or more a run with console drops.

The sheer amount of money you have to shell out to get marks is becoming a serious problem for me as well. Remember to only buy the stuff from vendors or the Cargo vessels running around Sirius or Regulus. If you replicate them you pay double the price.

Also you can vendor the Assimilated console or the pieces of the Jem Hidar set for 100,000 a pop for a single mission (some of the other rewards are good too, those are the best I can think of offhand). Or run the "tour the universe" for extra cash. And of course vendor at a Bartender to get consistently the best prices.

I did not realize I was paying more than the regular price -- or that the bartender paid better. Have to switch up how I do that.

I finally finished part 9 of Ghosts of the Jem'Hadar -- stupid quest was lurking in my officer's duty assignments, not the sector ones. :(

Where's the Jem'Hadar set come from?

Really loving the time I've put into my duty officer's (although I need to consolidate a bunch of greens into blues now). My space and ground set is almost full purple -- missing only an explosives guy and one green or blue guy that's the +40% Astrometrics guy.

I've got a good set of duty officers, so running the Winter Event stuff has given me a surplus of everything but those bloody beads. Don't get me wrong -- I'm down to just one more costume piece, than all that's left for me to buy is the Snowman Pet and if I want the snow sword (I don't) or the nanpulse bath'leth (I have the lirpa, so I doubt it). So really it's the pet if I want it.

Everything else? Costume pieces to sell later and latinum.

I've pulled in 600 Romulan marks so far from surplus snow epohhs (I only sold the ones that were fully evolved and I had more than one of), and I've got three or four currently breeding up.  All that work, constantly recruiting for duty officers really, really paying off. :)

Next time i'm on I'll mail you some beads. The Jem Hidar space set comes from some of the last  missions on the cardassian episode, namely the missions, namely "Operation Gamma" and "Boldly the rode". You can get a ground set from the ground missions. The ground set isn't bad.

You can check out the missions here.

And there's a snow sword?

It's an anti-Snowman sword. There's like one or two guns, and one or two swords.

I'm good on beads. :) I've just got a million of everything else. If it wasn't for the 250 bead requirement, I'd probably queue up the Winter Event upgrade  for the starbase. (need 250 of everything).

No way I'm scrapping up 250 beads by the 14th.

One of the best ways to make cash is to play the auction house (just like any other game).  People are listing expensive items dirt cheap all the time.  I usually search for the following items to look for bargains to repost

Beam arrays
Phaser beam arrays
Category - science consoles, "ield"

I have made a million a week in the past by just logging in twice a day and searching those terms.  I realize that a million is chump change when high end gear starts at 40 mil, but zero effort cash is zero effort.

I'm sure there's better ways to manipulate the market, but for a game that I play 2-3 times a month, I haven't been willing to research out a better strategy

I would like to thank Vladimir Putin for ensuring that every member of the NPR news staff has had to say "Pussy Riot" on the air multiple times.

It doesn't work. Neither a first playthrough nor a replay give the Borg console.

I haven't played for a few weeks, and have only played once before. I forgot how to equip things on my ship. I have new things.

I also forgot how to equip armor myself.

My inventory filled up. I dumped all the crafting stuff in the bank, and all the unopened lockboxes.

I enjoy the space missions; ground missions not so much.

U brings up your character sheet.  Drag and drop.  Sometimes you have to be in space to equip ship equipment.  It's a random bug.

Space will always be better than ground, but ground gets much more tolerable once you rank up a few times and your away team gets more abilities.

Thanks, I thought I had to be in the shipyard or something to change things on my ship.

I don't know what is valuable and what isn't. Should I be crafting or selling mats?

I also don't quite understand what subscribing gets me that I would want (at least at this point). But I really enjoy the space missions.
