True story: last night I had a nightmare that my early access only lasted like 2 days. Hmmm, I guess the 1st step is recognizing that I have a problem. Did I get access on the 13th in your dream? Pretty much everyone else did but me, so yah. Sweeet!

What copy of the game you bought has no bearing. It's simply when you put your pre-order code in.
I'll believe it when I get the email. Until then, I remain skeptical. Stephen Reid: "@Jon1932 When you get Early Game Access is entirely based on when you redeemed your pre-order code."

It's been said quite often that if you redeemed your code with in the first few days of it going up, you'll be getting access pretty early. Most likely day 1.

I never pre-order until I beta. But in this case I didnt get into the beta until 3 weeks ago so . Now it's gonna come back to bite me since the pre-order policy wasnt clear until late in the dev-cycle. Shoulda just dropped the $5-$10 regardless and gotten a key to apply at least. Tbh, I didnt think I'd like the game and planned on getting back into Eve. Now I'm rightly screwed both ways. No one likes to be the guild-newb with no one to level with.

This has been clearly stated since pre-orders started. It simply said "up to 5 days." (and now it's 7 days actually) I always looked at it as the devs just being undecided with release dates and timing. Whatever, I shall be punished for my transgressions.

Well I pre-ordered the digital deluxe version of this yesterday (and am downloading the client right now). Guess I'll be able to confirm if they're lying or not about not favoring versions.

People seem to think that if they're not in on the very first hour of the very first day, they'll be left in the dust and have to level in a barren wasteland while all the higher levels point and laugh at them. Get a grip people, it's only a few days at most!

That and I bet people are still gonna mess around at launch, like playing one class than deciding to switch.

Its the launch of a major MMO. There is going to be a glut of newbies fucking around the starting zones for months as waves and waves of new buyers come in.

And a lot of people aren't going to have much time to play this time of year anyway. Getting in on the very first day isn't going to be a big deal.

I have the opposite opinion: I want to jet past the bulk of the playerbase so I'm not stuck in full zones trying to get my 10 fozzles while nobody accepts my quest group invites. :P They instance the quest zones at N population, which is a nice way to avoid some of the "900 players, 1 slow spawning quest mob" issues. And I've had decent luck with asking if people are camping a named for a quest and getting invites though. I'm hoping live doesn't change the community much.

Yeah, with the instancing of the quest zones I really didn't have any problems with overcrowding during the big stress beta. I'm not too worried about throngs of people or full zones.

I usually ask :P
I only blind invite if I'm halfway through killing a named and someone runs over and gives me sad puppydog eyes. And then I hope whatever game I'm playing is smart enough to give kill credit if I invite mid-fight.

There should be a "puppydog eyes" ability.

Standing around waiting for a named spawn or sitting around in front of a group instance, yes. And it generally works fine. Is this somehow a bad thing?

I find blind invites almost as annoying/rude as blind duel requests, personally. Maybe it's just me, but if I don't get a "hey want to do <X>" tell first I can't click 'no' fast enough.

If I don't get a "Hey, do you want to kill the blah?" or something along those lines, I will auto-decline your invites.

I also decline if the person can't be bothered to even make sure I'm even DOING what they think I'm doing.

What else would you be doing in a quest spawn besides a quest? Unless you're there farming quest mobs, which is way more douchebagey then someone inviting you blindly. Also, odds are even if they're NOT killing your particular foozle, you can get credit for it anyways since likely there's some arbitrary task in your log that requires what they're killing anyways. All aside from gaining the extra xp due to grouping. Tbh, I look at the "accept" button as free loot/xp button and nothing more. I dont need typed text. And when I'm done with ya I leave party. Formalities are for friends and guildies. Everyone else is just fodder to kill in pvp or exploit.

I prefer the blind invite usually, so long as the player is in visual range so I know they're working on quests in the same area. If I don't want to group, it's easier to click the decline button than it is to type out a response to someone if they send me a tell.

I could be on my way out of there. I could be waiting for a friend. I could be doing nothing at all. Half the time my blind invites come from someone I can't even SEE, and the few times I've actually accepted them, it did indeed turn out I was doing X while they were doing Y, and no I actually don't want to help you with that, since I did it already because these four quests happen to be in the same area. So yeah, if you can't manage a "r u heer 4 <blah>?" I can't manage to hit accept. And here I thought most of you dorks were whining about how MMOs need MORE community.

I too automatically decline any invite from someone that doesn't include actually bothering to message me asking first. I learned way, way back when I first started playing MMOs that half the time someone spams a blind invite at you, it's because they're half your level and they expect you to go out of your way to do some quest you finished 6 levels ago in an area you aren't even close to anymore because they can't be bothered to do it themselves. And if you then say 'no thanks' and drop group, they spam profanity at you until you put them on /ignore. Yes, this has happened to me more than once.
So now I treat people who send blind invites the same as I treat people who randomly beg for gold.

Wow. You guys talk as if leaving a group after accepting a blind invite is a big deal. It is one more click, and as someone pointed out earlier, more group members = more xp.

It's not a big deal, I've just learned it's a waste of my time most of the time, so I don't bother accepting blind invites. Saves time.
EDIT: Amusingly, half the time if I get asked to do a quest, even if I'm not actively doing that quest but I'm in the area? I'll help. Because they asked.

XP means nothing to me. A bit of courtesy means a lot. Also I've had Nevermore's experiences before. I'm not taking shit for not wanting to go half-way around the world helping a stranger who expects it of me, and can't be bothered to ask.

Get a grip people, it's only a few days at most! Given that leveling is a single player activity, this is such a silly argument. I find blind invites annoying, but oddly I find Rift's ability to add yourself to someone in a group automatically to be a great feature. It's all about the popup.

I, too, blind invite if I'm killing a named or higher mob that is for a quest and someone runs up and stands there. Even if they don't help on the kill I prefer to help folks along rather than contribute to the bottlenecks.
Blind invites I decline if I don't see you on my screen, for the reasons Nevermore outlined. Or if I'm almost done - quite often it seems I'm on the last 2-3 kills of a quest before someone comes up and tosses out a "let's share the kills" invite. Slow people!

I guess I don't understand the blind invite declines, if you are indeed on the same quest. If you're standing in front of a group instance and not grouped, or standing by a named spawn...why would I bother typing in a query, when I can just send an invite. I find most people are happy that I'm not trying to ks them, or they've been begging in general for a group for an instance.
What bizarro world is this where I'm the guy in favor of more grouping?
I'm not talking about what Nevermore is saying, just people in the area. And it doesn't bother me if people don't accept random invites for kill x objectives; but when someone declines an invite for a named or instance; and then either attacks the boss or continues lfg in general....it's boggling to me.
Lantyssa, I see sending someone an invite to a shared objective as courtesy. I'm not usually chatty.

I'll blind invite if we're both standing around an instance.
I always find it hilarious that people are offended by that. I'll usually send it twice if the person gets obnoxious back to me in tells.
Then I send them back something in broken english leetspeek about selling them gold.
