Trailer here. Books were entertaining enough. Haven't gotten around to watching the Swedish movies yet, but this is the teaser for the U.S. version of the first movie from David Fincher (Se7en, Fight Club, Social Network, etc...). I like the look of it so far.

I really enjoyed the Swedish versions (having not read the books) but loving this trailer - probably because the Trent Reznor/Karen O Led Zepp cover.
Think I prefer Noomi Rapace's dragon tattoo to the glimpse of the one in this though.

The Swedish cast fits my vision from the book better, especially Blomkvist and Lisbeth.

Sweet! Reading the book now - its decent enough that I will probably catch the movie.

No Nerf, but I put a link to this very thread and I said that you all can guarantee for my purity. I even mentioned your case, and see if they can take a look at your lawn from a Michigan perspective.

Does that trailer make sense if you've read the book? What I get is lots of random disjointed images that don't tell me much about what the movie is about other than it snows a lot there.

I haven't seen the Swedish movies but I gather they will be a little better than this. This trailer seemed a little too full of itself. Daniel Craig as the main character doesn't fit to me but I'm sure he can do something good with it.

Just got done watching the original on Netflix. Good flick, but I was left with a some glaring questions once all was said and done.
Watching the trailer a second time, after having seen the original film, I think it'll probably be a decent remake. I have to agree with DraconianOne, though, Noomi Rapace's tattoo was better.

I watched the Swedish version and was mesmerized. But the second movie was a let down. American version looks, good, especially with Fincher, but will to rent. I do need to get that song though!

That's generally not uncommon after watching the first part of a trilogy.

Normally, I'd agree. Except in this case, none of the events surrounding Harriets disappearance are ever mentioned in the subsequent films. Apparently, the book explains a few things in more detail, which answers the questions I had.

But the second movie was a let down. 2nd and 3rd were made for TV rather then theater. That takes the edge of much of what occurs in the books.

Yeah, the 1st one (the Swedish movies) was good, the next 2 were OK… And though I did not read the books I have a hard time seeing this rendition in any better light…

Very much so. I was about 75% of the way through the book and went out to watch X-Men: First Class, and the trailer was already in theaters. I didn't know it was coming (or that there was a trailer) and I figured out what it was in a couple seconds. Had to close my eyes the whole way so it wouldn't ruin the ending of the book. This will kick the ass of those swedish movies, I can't freaking wait until December 21st.

I think the hilarious thing is Noomi Rapace is very as Lisbeth, which is sort of not the idea and came up when the Swedish movies were released. But aside from the actress being a bit too pretty, they did a good job of not putting their female lead out there like a sex object. *Okay, maybe in the poster for the second movie but that thing is fucking awesome so it's all good.

That looks much better than the first. I'm happy to see they kept the book pretty much intact, or at least it appears they did.

Saw this over the weekend, having never read the books or seen the originals. I was generally pleased, aside from one particularly brutal scene it was a good flick.

This movie is bombing at the BO vs cost of $90MM, losing to Sherlock's week 2.
I highly recommend the Swedish version, easily available on Netflix. The main actress is hotter, for one.

Had I not already watched the entire series of movies I would have had more desire to see this opening week. Between MI4 and the new sherlock holmes movies or a remake of a movie I had already seen was kind of an easy call.
