If you just can't wait, AC+AC has been pretty cheap on eBay ($5-15ish) for a long time now, ever since it got reissued in some bargain combo pack in the UK.

I actually own the Planetary Pack already. I just love the ease of GoG more than handling my old discs when I want to play a game. I'm a lazy old bum basically.  awesome, for real

Also, hoping for the rest of the Ultimas, I lost my discs some time ago.

WC: Privateer, and also my favourite CRPG of all time, UW2 (plus the first episode). Seems a no brainer  Heart Heart Heart Heart

Alpha Centuri is the one everyone talks about as being a top 10 of all time and such, right? I had it on my wishlist, I think.

Privateer is the god of PC games.  It tantalizes you by making you think there's a universe of intelligent, thinking humans scrapping their way through the galaxy.

Then you grow up and learn that you're on an overpopulated planet full of morons.

That might have just been my childhood in a nutshell.  Alas.

Crusader is worth a look. Definitely the only shit that came out good out of Origin after ultima 8 debacle.
Privateer...huh...I finish the game in Orion, using the ramming tactic on all talons. Fun times. Max shield, guns blazing, full burners' in yer face! They never survive a direct collission.

Confeds blockade? Ram a Paradigm class cruiser and gain 3000 kps as you spun past the blockade...bye bye!

Privateer needs a remake. I wonder how many people play EVE because of Privateer? :)

I have to say I've never played privateer. It was the one WC game I missed. Might pick it up this time round and see whats what.

It had a remake, its called freelancer.

If any MMO studio can remake privateer or freelancer game, i'm in. I DON'T play ever because of Privateer.

Last good Brian Reynolds game.

I would've said best Civ until I played FFH2.

For me, it was Frontier: Elite II that turned me on to EVE. I had to try 3 times before I got hooked (the game is terrible, the people make it worth it etc), though.

Soo, if I've played Freelancer but never played Privateer is it still worth going back and trying it out?

I find they are very different games.  Freelancer was too constrained by levels.

They are different games, but quite the same in some core areas. The art in privateer was also top notch. For 5$? Its worth it.

Crusader was actually pretty good. So the only thing missing now would be Strike Commander.

Never again has anybody made a game that was that great a mix of accessible game and simulation with the hint of an open world than Privateer and Strike Commander.

Crusader is very slick for its time. I got kicks off the death animation. It's basically a tighter, arcade style of Syndicate...with dashes of FMV to spice up the story and interaction. Hell, there's even gear and tools buying plus multiple solutions.

Can't get the key? Blow the door up with Det-packs. Or hack it.

Privateer - played it all the way to the end, couldn't make a dent in the final ship the times I tried, save file corrupted, never finished it.

Crusader - liked it a lot (particularly the destructable environments) but don't think I ever played it through to the end. Didn't really play the sequel as much as the original.

Magic Carpet - played that a lot and enjoyed the magic flight sim. Never finished it.

I don't think I'd get these games just to complete them, but ... nah. It's never the same the second time.

There will be more WC and Ultima on GoG in future updates. "Mr. Longino also confirms that GOG is actively pursuing the rights to release games from the Syndicate and System Shock franchises."

I own (and still have) the original boxes and related contents of the first three Wing Commander (plus the awesome "movie reel" special edition of WC 3) but I would immediately purchase a digital version of the Kilrathi Saga so that everything works smoothly through dosbox in one package  Heart

Oh, and beside EA, I just can't wait to put my hands on the complete SSI's "Gold Box" collection (please include the Buck Rogers too!), whenever GoG will manage to get the permission to release them  awesome, for real

I wouldn't mind seeing all the SSI games that I played in high school again - War in the South Pacific, Overrun!, Warship, Mech Brigade, Medieval Lords, the first two Wargame Construction Sets, the Great Naval Battles and Imperialism series...

(Steel Panthers, thankfully, is still available in two different versions - one from Matrix Games, and one from Shrapnel Games.)

I've still got that Ultima Collection disk of 1-8 from years ago. I just the other day finally learned how to easily pwn U5 and get as much loot as I want right at the start with no effort. Once you have a magic axe and 30+ invisibility rings, combat is just a formality. I might get seriously into 6 if I can overcome the shitty interface.
