Yea, 20k is about what you'll get from the first crafted tank suit, which is what 90% of the player base started tanking heroics in once they hit 80.

Go buy the Ebon Blade one. You've got the rep and I do believe it's the best around for melee DPS.

Build advice.

The two points in Imp. Berserker Rage are free to go anywhere except one place: DO NOT PUT THEM IN IMPROVED CLEAVE.

Quote
Improved CleaveRank 3
Increases the bonus damage done by your Cleave ability by 120%.

Quote
CleaveRank 8
20 RageMelee Range
Next melee
Requires Melee Weapon
A sweeping attack that does your weapon damage plus 222 to the target and his nearest ally. (+1 with glyph)

14.8 damage per target hit per point.

Sheepherder, you are an illiterate fucktard.  The ability actually says 'increases it by 120%'.  Just to make sure, I logged in my warrior and respecced improved cleave.  Guess what?  The bonus damage now says "488-489".

Oh, okay, I misread the tooltip and threw 222 x 1.2 into Calc rather than 222 x 2.2.  Throwing numbers into Rawr it's still worth 51 DPS per point when Cleave is glyphed, fighting three simulated trash targets from behind.

EDIT: And I still laugh at people proposing the "It does less threat!" theory, because it's actually less threat efficient per bonus damage than heroic strike on single targets.

EDIT2: Now I get it, I hit x1.2 because I was just looking for the bonus bonus damage, but then repeated the step.  Am drinking battery acid now.

Here are my two 80s:

Cauthrien, my mostly Disc Priest, in a mix of great-stuff-from-two-patches-ago and Emblem of Triumph gear.

Caladein, my Holy Paladin and tank project.

Since I don't really need a second T10-raid-capable healer (as they're both on the same server again), I've been using my badges, and "Hey, can I need that for off-spec?", on my Paladin to get tank gear to try my hand at Protection.  We'll see how poorly that goes in a week or so...

So I'm gonna end up hit capped on gear alone soon. Should I just gem str to infinity at that point or what?

Yes, except for decent socket bonuses and meta gem requirements.  Congratulations, you just won the gemming minigame.

This is my character Tazzle.

So after 5 years I finally got a toon to 80 on the day of the last patch.  I haven't done so bad as far as gearing up in that time.  I pretty much did all of this through random heroics and the new lfg system.

And yes, I know that the guild name is spelled wrong.

WUA:

Gem all strength except one nightmare tear in your best blue/yellow socket bonus. That will cover your metagem requirements for the relentless earthstorm diamond, which is what you should be using. (21 agility +3% bigger crits.) You might be tempted by the 21 crit rating + 3% bigger crits one that casters use (chaotic skyflare diamond) but don't be, it requires 2 blues and you'll more than make up for the difference between 21 crit rating and 21 agility by carrying one less blue gem.

Mind you there are the occasional socket bonuses that are high enough you should try to actually match color for them, keep an eye out for really good ones.

Hey, you're on my server!

If you don't mind me asking, why are you gemming for stam? I don't know rogue gearing, but I'd assume you gem assuming you won't get hit?

As a healer all I can say is HAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHAHHAAH.... *rez*

Talking of which, why do rogues say "Ress plz" when they die? Do they think they healer won't think of it unless they demand it?

Anyway... sorry... /derail

Is the stam gemming for pvp?

I love getting this from warlocks and rogues in the middle of a raid on my druid.  No, I will not battle res your dumb ass for dying unless the raid leader specifically instructs me to!

So am I better off downgrading triumph badges to conquest to fill a given slot, or using the next wave of battleground PVP shit? Because if I just go around randomly filling slots with badge gear, I'm gonna end up way the hell over the hit cap. And wasted hit can't be any better than irrelevant resilience.

I'm not up to speed on all the gems, I was just looking for attack power.  I just chose stam as the second because hp's are good imo.

Also, while pugging heroics... I found that even if I try my hardest I will get aggro and get squished.

And WUA, after I got all my triumph stuff I went down to the next vendor to fill out what was missing that I could upgrade.  It's not like those are triumph's are gonna be useful for anything else.

WUA, you could look into the crafted rewards for your class and see if they're upgrades; if so, use your triumphs for the Crusader Orbs and get those made. IIRC you're a ret pally, so you'd be looking at Titanium Razorplate and Titanium Spikeguards.

I think what that means is you just got your 22nd one, it just increments the count every time.

Yes, I know that.  I was going "gee" at the fact that I've had to sit through the 10 minute opener 22 times (and actually, 23 now since my daily was CoS).

I would like to thank you for rectifying my weakening disdain for gnomes.  You have single-handedly made me wish to wipe them all out once more.  (I am so lucky I was feral on my Druid and had mostly matching gear on my DK all throughout BC.)
