It is funny how, in an internet that is stuffed to the brim with cat photos and videos, that one single cat stands above them all.  Maru is practically a celebrity.

I should get back to nature, too.  You know, like going to a shop for groceries instead of the computer.  Maybe a condo in the woods that doesn't even have a health club or restaurant attached.  Buy a car with only two cup holders or something. -Signe

Depends. I had a cat that lived to be 22 and his brother was 19. The youngest cat we had die (outside of feline lukemia) was still 12 years old when she had to be put down.

As mentioned in the Useless Conversation thread, Kittenpocalypse 2015: The Cattening

Mom #1 (the tabby) had seven babies last Friday night.  Naturally, she ignores any and all prepared cat beds and picks a cardboard box of random trash for the new home  swamp poop  Mom #2 (the long-haired manx) chipped in another 4 on Sunday:

There's 8-10 piled in there, even on the photo it's hard to count.  Harder when they won't stay still.

Mom #3 had hers last night, but I was in a rush and wasn't able to take a picture this morning.  I'll try to add one tomorrow of the whole Mt. Kittenmanjaro, but they're uncooperative little shits.

Was there some kind of feline re-enactment of Caligula going on at your house recently?  ACK!

3 cats in the same house having kittens in a 4 day stretch is wacky.

There's actually 15; would be 16 but one didn't make it :(

With slightly overworked Mom #3:

I'll throw on some more when they get a little bigger and open their eyes.

Wait....so that one cat spawned 15 kitties?

Can I come over and play with them for an hour?

But I think I count 13 on the one above alone (hard to be sure).

Anyway, it's a lot of kitties, regardless.  I'll take 2.

They are sharing mom duties, I waited for the others to get out of the box.  If they're all in it's hard to see any kittens

I once had 2 cats and a small dog all drop litters within a few days of each other. Watching them take turns on 'mom' duty for one big mass of squirming fur was hilarious, but even funnier were the people who called to adopt them and asked "Are they good with dogs/cats?" (when they were getting a kitten or puppy, respectively).

Yes, if anything their problem was that they were *so* fond of the opposing species, the existing residents of the houses they went to got freaked out when they wanted to cuddle.

Wish I had pictures, but this was long before digital cameras, and I don't know if my mother saved any (or even got the film developed).

They take care of the breeding themselves  Ohhhhh, I see.

They're barn cats; we provide shelter, food and water but cats are cats--they wander or don't come in, and periodically they get taken by owls/hawks/coyotes or just go missing.  So there's some attrition every year.

We wanted kittens from two of the mothers (#2 and $3).  Mom #1 was supposed to get fixed, but she turned out to be pregnant at the time and my wife was too soft-hearted for kitty abortions.

Got takers for half of them, working on the rest but we'll care for any that don't find homes.  Although the wife has been told no more litters until the resident cat population is under a dozen again :P
