That is freakin' adorable.

I should get back to nature, too.  You know, like going to a shop for groceries instead of the computer.  Maybe a condo in the woods that doesn't even have a health club or restaurant attached.  Buy a car with only two cup holders or something. -Signe

The thing that always gets me about animals falling down is they do the same headshake we do when stunned. Makes me wonder where it first evolved since it's so universal.

Probably has to do with resetting the inner ear liquids.

That.  And possibly also stimulating blood flow to/from the head.

There isn’t much information on the poodle moth. We know that it is possibly a fairly new species of moth discovered in 2009 by Dr. Arthur Anker of Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan. He found it in the Gran Sabana region of Venezuela. It bears similarities to the Muslin Moth, but is not classified the same. We also know that is it scary looking and that I will not be making any trips to Venezuela anytime soon.

I think it looks cute.

Fancy rats (which are the type that people keep as pets) are Rattus Norvegicus. The wild rat that most people are familiar with is Rattus Rattus. I used ot keep pet rats, they are fun little critters that can be trained, love to play or cuddle and are very friendly and inquisitive without being quite as destructive as ferrets. The downside is that they don't live very long - 2-3 years is usual, and they are very prone to tumours. Of the 15 or so that I've owned at different times, maybe only three or four died of old age, the others had to be put to sleep.

Had a rat in my teens for three years before we put it to sleep. Was a wonderful pet to be honest. Smart, playful, and got along really well with the dog oddly enough. Just never ever buy a female rat from a pet store. 90% chance you'll have 8 rats a few weeks later.

We had a pet rat lucy and she was probably one of the best pets we ever owned. Smart as hell easily trained super friendly. She was bathroom trained so she would always go back to her cage to do her stuff but most of the time we left the lid off she she could roam around the family room. I spent many a saturday morning watching cartoons with a cute black hooded rat on my shoulder sharing my cereal.

My last 2 girl rats made it to 5 and 5.5 years old. Great pets, cleaner than cats. Too short a life though. I still have people at shows coming up to me to ask about them, and it's been 10 years since.
