What features or enhancements would you most like to see in WOW? Please keep it to things that are actually plausible.

I will start off with my two biggest:

1. Item Upgrades - One of the best ways to get people to go back to old content would be to create a mechanic that would allow for you to take weapons or armor and upgrade them through some form of quest and deep money sink. For example: As a warlock I absolutely adore my Season 2 PvP gear but obviously this has been replaced (and probably discarded by many other locks) by level 80 gear (which will be replaced next year, et al).

So how about Blizzard creates a once per week or even month quest that costs a few hundred (or more) gold and allows you to go to a forge (like the now abandoned dark iron forge in Molten Core) and "upgrade" that single piece to level 80? It would not have to be the best gear in game but maybe Nax 10 level. Also the timer on the quest would mean that it would take a month or more to upgrade a set (weapons could be on a different timer and even cost more).

With this mechanic, think of all the possiblities... Go back to get that Rogue Slayer Set or the Core Hound Dagger and get them upgraded! Or get that Tier 1 set upgraded, Arguals robes....whatever. They have the mechanic started already with the bind on account logic.

I think this would open up some new areas and get people to go do old school content again.

2. Dual Spec - we all want it....you know what it is....lets just get it already.

Clear definition of the hunter class.

If that's not possible, then costume customization.  Wrath armor looks like ass, imo (my 20something warrior in her battleforge set looks better than the 80 stuff).  Besides, everyone starts to look like everyone else eventually anyway.  Armor skins or whatever.  I like to play dress up.  WoW shoulders are dumb looking.

Both of these. Item upgrading is cool also. I want to pull out my old Verigan's Fist from when I was level 20.

I want them to change crit rating to something that will scale with auto-crit abilities like lava burst. Maybe make it increase crit damage instead of crit chance. That would fix a big itemization problem for a number of classes.

Item upgrades will never happen and is a complete pipe dream.

Technically it can be done, since with the ilevel system you can assign values and you could possibly come up with a system that could dynamically upgrade weapons so as to minimize powergaming (would have to be soulbound due to bonuses being different weights for different classes).

However, it's simply not feasible without redoing the entire way they store items in the database. Furthermore, you have two choices with power - either they compete with heroic/25man drops (thus causing less people to run heroics/raids/other instances) or they end up being weaker than those items (and have no one use the system except for novelty).

Also, you have an issue with the method of upgrading - you don't want to give someone with a lot of cash too much advantage over someone who has a lot of time, and vice versa.

You could probably find a happy medium, but the time involved in implementing something like this is way out of scope of the benefit/enjoyment it would provide to the players.

Same as everyone...

Dual Spec (FFS throw us a bone and just get rid of the respec cost)
Appearance Tab
All classes available on the same level 55 as your DK

I'd love to see Mentoring, ie you go down to the lower players level. I'm not sure about sidekicking though--that's when you raise up your sidekick up to your level right? It seems like that would be hard. Most xp here isn't just xp like killing stuff in COX, it's from quests. How do you have a level 10 turning in level 60 quests and not cutting off their future xp or ending up with uber rewards? How can you escalate a lower level to raid level and not have it be unbalancing?

If you can read this, you're on a board populated by misogynist assholes.

If we're using the terms mentoring/sidekicking, here's what I would do:

Mentoring: (high level dropping to low level friend) allowed to share in quests of the mentoree (and giving lvlXXX gold, or a percentage thereof, of the mentor's level on completion instead of items, thus encouraging mentoring)
Sidekicking: (low level friend buffed to high level) Not allowed to complete quests; this mode would be intend to join friends while raiding instead. Person would be naturally weaker due to not having all lvl 80 abilities, but not so much so that you wouldn't want to take them at least in 5 mans. Advantage of this is they could use or gather higher level items they can use while sidekicking or later as they level up

I just keep all my old sets in the bank and pop them on from time to time, but frankly I like having a progressively evolving look.

My wish-list is just an assortment of priest tweaks and bugfixes really. I couldn't care less about vanity stuff for the most part.

These.

I'm supposed to be a hero, so I should be able to make a unique look rather than work towards the same outfit everyone else has.  It would be really, really nice to be able to play with friends and not worry so much about being their exact level.  Chatting is great and all, but it gets lonely on a new server or starting up an alt.

Plus housing.  I want to be able to hang trophies on the wall and have manequins hold the neat sets of clothing I've acquired.  I'll lump Guild Halls in here even though I don't have a personal stake in them.

Hahahaha!  I'm really good at this!

I'd prefer they do both.  They'll always make more trolls to kill.  It'd be nice to increase the breadth of options for things to do.  It's also great for retention since it gives players something they can do during downtime.

1.  Scalable instances.  I'd like to see solo/duo or even three person version of current dungeons.  I don't care if they drop less loot or even just a token/coin system for loot.  I just would like to do the encounters without raiding and at times, even grouping.

2.  Dual specs.  I've wanted this from the first day I started getting tells, "hey, are you resto?".  I know we're supposedly getting this soonish, but I'm not holding my breath.

3.  Craftable BOE epics for every slot/spec.  This goes a long way to making the game even more casual friendly.

4.  Fluff.  There needs to be more fun / inconsequential things you can do.  How about really races at Shimmering flats?  How about a destruction derby somewhere now that vehicle combat is in? How about a merry-go-round where I can ride a murloc?  Or a carnival with actual carnival games?

Make the rewards something stupid like shirts, hats, buff food, bragging rights, whatever.

5.  I'd like engineering to be a little less useless than it is now.

6.  Appearence stuff would be nice, but I think Blizzard might be buying the EQ logic of "if people see the awesome gear (LOOK AT THOSE SHOULDERS) being paraded in front of them, they'll want to raid."

7.  More virtual wordly stuff.  Housing would be a nice start.

edit:  There's so much more I'd like to see.  I'd almost pay to be an intern given a "summer project" there.

Quest items dropping for everyone in the group. It's obnoxious duoing or trioing any drop related quests.

More fluff as well (housing, appearance gear, etc).

I don't really want dual-specs, but thats because I'm a greedy Inscriptionist and it'd kill my profitability.

Appearance tab pleeeeeeeease. I like how my 80's look fine, but I do look like, oh, everyone else. Of course, my DK would probably still look like all the other DKs, as I suspect we would all be wearing either our starter outfit or the one we have by the end of our newbie area.  DRILLING AND MANLINESS

I'd also like some fuckin' housing. I have this feeling they don't want to put in housing for the sake of putting in housing, but goddammit, that's the best sort of housing.

Yeah, this.  Some better achievements would be nice, too.  It seems like half of the big meta-achievements are about 90% soloing level 30 content and 10% "P.S. you'll also need to do Heroic Gun'drak, hope you're geared" kind of stuff.  Throw in some more questing achievements, like for completing major quest lines, instead of just "Has done 1,000 quests" thing.  More titles would be nice.

Also, could use some kind of help for alts.  Either let my 80s gift their waste XP to one of my alts, or make Bind on Account items either more powerful or more affordable, or something.  Trying to level my priest is damn painful, while my Paladin is soloing Dire Maul, getting no XP and junking gear that my alt would commit murder for.

1.  Orca swim form for druids.  Or penguin.  Or dolphin.  Or shark, if they want to be able to explain the whole underwater breathing thing.   I hate the ugly form we have now, it doesn't glide through the water, it more like tries to rock-climb a sheer cliff, horizontally.  I envy the mages for having a zillion polymorph forms.

2.  Orca combat sounds need to be changed.  There should be clicks, for the echolocation.  And some sort of screeching, like the elekk/elephant sounds in Outlands.  Not whale songs.  They can saturate the area where the orcas are with whale song if they want to, but once the things aggro you, they should sound angry.

I'd chip in a vote for a social armor tab, if there was anything in WoW worth wearing.  swamp poop

If they threw in a social tab, and racial armor sets, that would be keen.

1. A few more 5-mans would be nice. Something themed a bit differently than most of the WoTLK stuff would be cool. How about an outdoor/indoor Scarlet Onslaught 5-man? Or an underground paradise 5-man akin to the last portion of Maraudon?

2. More badge loot. I don't even run that many heroics between raids and I'm just about out of stuff to buy. Maybe make some more heirloom items for another slot.

3. Make none of the raid content in WoTLK cockblocky in any way. Each raid being progressively tougher is fine with me but -absolutely no- encounter that requires a reasonably good raid to raid-stack and give 110% output to have a chance at it. Removing all attunements is a good start.

4. No fucking troll raids. No more. Don't need another, don't want another. I'll take another dragon raid before I take a troll raid.

5. Speaking of that, if it ain't Deathwing or Grim Batol then I don't want another dragon raid either.

6. EXPAND THE STARTING BACKPACK.

How about leveling speed increased by a factor based on how many other characters you have of at least that level?  Call it: "level a class a little bit, if you don't like it at least you aren't fucked™".

It's actually why I stopped playing WoW again a little over a week ago. I'm possibly geared for heroic Gundrak, on the low end of the scale, but simply having that many WotLK dungeons to have to run just fucked me right off. The Valentine's day requires 10-man Naxx. As my guild is shit, and I can't be arsed trying to get into PUG raids that's closed off as well. So fuck it all.
