I'm sure it had nothing to do with the steak crawling across the counter on its own.

That doesn't sound ominous at all.

I'm glad somebody said it. I'd have a complete meltdown if I had to live in a house with a kitchen that hideous.

A lot of the time "retro" went away for a reason. Because it was awful.

Trends are always funny.

Someone linked a whole bunch of High School 1969 photos on Reddit yesterday. Viewed in context of those people's apparel the kitchen suddenly makes sense. Things don't look so awful if this is the clothing and style you're trotting about in.

http://imgur.com/a/358sl?gallery

By that same token, looking back at the clothes of the 1980's and 1990's - all equally terrible in their own right.  You're all old enough you KNEW you were stylin' and not some lame-ass moron like those 1960's folks.

A look back will show you that you were so very, very, very wrong.  Just as in another 10-20 we'll discover how wrong we look right now.

If I were an alien trying to sort that shit out, I would have to conclude that the inhalation of pot smoke, both passive and active, caused color blindness as well stupidity.

I often wonder about that. I look at hairstyles from the '80's and '90's and can't think why they were so fashionable, especially compared to the sensible short short look I ran up until about a year ago. Then I look at my mohawk and think "Somebody is going to make a lot of fun of this in pictures some day." So what the fuck do I know?

Meanwhile the men's three-piece suit and tie has been in fashion for around a century now.

I can say, those pics? That fashion? Really isn't that bad. I say having:

been born in the early 1970s and having a mother who was really into disco.
been thru grade school and high school in the 1980s and early 1990s with the french cuffs, mullets, acid wash, neon all the things.
been thru college and the raver/club kid culture and the clown clothes and colors.

Yeah, those pics are fucking tame.

You realize this is the same as saying "dresses have been in fashion for over a millennia" right?   Suits from the turn of the 20th look very different for suits of the 60s which in turn are different from those if today.  The Hall of Presidents is a great place to see this in evidence.

The only really bad outfit in that was the older teacher looking woman and she probably shouldn't count as a hippie.  Those were very good photos too, for some reason as soon as someone said 60's I assumed they would be all grainy and out of focus.

What a colossal waste.

I remember from this past summer standing up on a hill in Joshua Tree, looking down on Palm Springs in the distance...

It was July. It was hot. There was no natural water to be found...yet you have this place, with its lush lawns and golf courses.  swamp poop
