Is that how rich Chinese people think? What a PR disaster.

Yup that is a good illustration of some of the fun that is china also does not help their property lease "laws" are murky at best so it is pretty hard to prove what is actually allowed and what is not. And the more money you have the more leeway you have. I think this case came to a head because the top villa thing is so overblown its starting to crack the building and the pipe work from load it was never designed to carry.

Yes, but there are shades of gray. This is flaunting it a bit obvious.

There was that story a few months ago about the punk kid of some rich connected asshole who ran over a bunch of people and dared them to come after him shouting who his father was as he sped away.

Fake edit: Okay, it was years ago.

On the other hand on the rare occasion that someone is a big enough asshole for the Chinese government to come down on them they are probably going to be crushed into a fine paste.

Fake postscript:  That saying about how days feel longer but years just rush by when you get older is disturbingly true.  Suri Cruise is seven years old but it feels like just a couple years ago we were making fun of that magazine cover with her and Tom.  The children of the girls who got pregnant when I was in high school are now out of high school themselves... they are fully adult twenty somethings, Fuck.

C'mon. The parents riot when the school tightened regulations.
Surrounded schools, tossed rocks, because of what?
Because their children couldn't cheat on their exams.

I don't believe in laws.  If they want him gone, they should go up to his house and toss him off the roof.  It's because of all the bloody laws that we have so many criminals!

I gotta be honest: Animated GIFs are really annoying me these days. Not anyone's fault for using them of course. But fucking hell would it kill someone to make some basic goddamned video controls default for each browser? Even just a pause and restart button?

But also, I love the deer-in-headlights look on the Maori Wrasse in this shot:

You can turn off gif animation if firefox by typing about:config into your url bar and changing image.animation_mode to none.  I disable them at work.  It can make for some very confusing viewing when everyone is talking about an image you didn't realize was animated.  You can still see it animate if you right click and view image info.

Planning rules in the UK are pretty inflexible, just ask Donald Trump. It's a bit easier if you're a corporation, but only marginally so.
