Um, hanging a random mess of electricity connections on a metal fence and inviting everyone to use it.

That's actually a plus, as if something shorted it would go to ground through the metal posts and not any dude who touched the shorting power strip.  A more efficient conductor than mild steel would actually be safer.  It's also sort of irrelevant, because the most likely hazard in that scenario is the resistance of several power strips daisy-chained together causing a fire, and the fence is non-combustible.

I came here to report this, even though it is very evidently old.  This is awesome.

Ah, memories.

That it has two brains is making me giggle.  And the instructions for how to make it down the bottom.  Disturbing whimsy at it's finest.

The same guy also did this picture which I bought a print of and framed as a Christmas present to my doctor a couple of years ago. She loved it.

Have you looked at his toys?  (not a pervy question)  They're not expensive at all.  Will make cool pressies for my weird family.

I found the following among an immense collection of iconic images.
Please don't hit me if it's not quite the proper thread for it. I do think it's awesome (in a romantic way, read the quote!), but individual tastes can vary so much.

1947
Viceroy of India, Lord Mountbatten
Lady Mountbatten
Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru

Quote
Lady Edwina Mountbatten had an affair with Jawaharlal Nehru throughout Mountbatten’s viceroyalty. The pair even resumed that relationship on Nehru’s subsequent visits to England. Lord Mountbatten, who was also rumored to be a closeted homosexual (his wife was also accused of being a bisexual), knew about the relationship, and was not only tolerant but encouraging.

When Edwina died at the age of 58 in 1960, Nehru not only gave an eulogy in the Indian Parliament but also sent an Indian Navy frigate to the spot where she had been buried at sea in the English Channel, to cast a single wreath of marigolds.

My local store has them for $2.88 for 100 Otterpops. My son is relentless in his pursuit of getting more. I might have to do that for his upcoming birthday. Only on a smaller scale.

Found this shortly after my grandmother died a few years ago - it's a flyer that was given to all households in the UK in 1940 advising what to do in the case of invasion.  Got it scanned in for a project my son was doing at school

That flier is a great reminder of just how easy we have it now.  People of that generation had a great deal to contend with.
