I can only imagine that you wandered onto a server where they were playing some sort of intricate meta-game, like organizing an inter-team conga line, and your turret was on the parade route.

Every now and then I wander onto one of those and find some amusing way to get kicked.  My favorite was when I joined a server where the admins were trying to organize some kind of giant stupid duel on one end of a giant custom map.  To get from one end of the map to the other there was some sort of catapult thing that launched you through the air.  I went sniper and started treating the opposing team like clay pigeons.   Grin  This did not conform to the parameters of the duel, unfortunately.

Anyway, the best way to avoid that sort of foolishness is to avoid servers that have custom maps or custom settings.  Most "pure" servers are there to just play the goddamn game.

The server I've been most impressed with and play everyday is 'C:\ | Older than DOS| .exe' (http://www.game-monitor.com/tf2_GameServer/64.27.13.33:27018/C_Older_Than_DOS_.exe.html), FreshFruit plays on it and is a member of the OTD clan.  Everyone on it is good which makes for better gameplay, they actually do things like coordinate and play as a team!  They also are not immature so they wouldn't yell at a n00b, but their server is custom map heavy so you have to be into that sort of thing.

Of course until the new F13 TF2 server comes up, if anyone plays it!  DRILLING AND MANLINESS

My favorite newish TF2 feature is that "don't download server files" option.  I don't have to download 2GB of Simpsons MP3s each time I connect to a new server, and if the server switches to a custom map I don't have I auto-disconnect so I can find a better server.

Wolf isn't so great.  If your team takes B first while some scouts take A you can all rush C and win real fast.

It was a normal server as far as I could tell.  Had already played a round or two on it.  I was already in a fragile mood, so it just killed the game for me.

Hahahaha!  I'm really good at this!

I played a few rounds this evening and immediately noticed the medic crouching in the corner healing the engineer who was going about his business hiding behind a sentry gun.

How about the roving packs of medics ubering each other and going at you with a bonesaw?  That shit is annoying.

I would like to add that I've added instant ubercharge and instant health to 1 point to the server.

For instant uber type 'charge' in console, for 1 health type 'health' in console.

So is anybody else trying to get these in real games?

I'm one away from getting the kritzkrieg.  The ones I'm missing are mostly the ones that require action from another player.  It's taken me almost a week to get Preventative Medicine simply because it requires the uber target to undertake the difficult task of STEPPING ONTO THE POINT.   Spinning star

I tried and gave up, but I have to admit that the f13-Achievmentserver is lots of fun. :)

Medic was my least-played class prior to this patch, at something like 9 hours, and now it's square in the middle.  According to my calculations I'll get the 1000000 point heal thing long before my medic time surpasses my engy or demo times.

Remember that there is a hacked server to get chief of staff in a minute, though it fucks your stat page.

Looking through the achievements I was already half way to Chief of Staff as it was, and I haven't played in months.
I think I might try to get them all the 'normal' way when everything calms down.

Why the hell are you getting the achievements if you don't even like to play medic? So you can stare at the things you choose not to use?

Because they're there and I don't have a job and need shit to do so I don't spend money.

Might as well do them now while everyone else is trying to get them, makes it a breeze on our achievement server.

Playing a medic on a real server isn't bad. It's not my preferred class, but it's got its own little joys.

The program that unlocks all achievements is here.

Make sure steam is running, TF2 was that last game you run, and that tf2 is currently NOT running.

I *just* did this, and it worked, but I don't know how long it will last before it's patched out.
