The amount of negative buzz that will need to be generated compared to the marketing Microsoft will pump at this means it won't fail.
Dreamcast failed for entirely different reasons. The 32x and lack of Saturn support killed faith in Sega as a manufacturer.
So the follow-up console might fail because the 720 displeases consumers, but the 720 could do a lot of dumb things and still sell well enough to be called a success.

I'm no photo forensics expert but I know my way around Photoshop enough to see some wierd splicing at KJU's neck. Also, since this is a low quality JPG, the artifacting is actually kinda helpful. That background is very bland, enough so that the artifacting around the edge of the real people is somewhat consistent (which is normal) whereas it's not around KJ's head and there's a telltale slight glow line on the right side of the women's face to his left. Shit, the military officer might as well have been outlined with the vector pen tool and dropping in. Finally, they did a really slipshod job of filling in whatever was actually in the windows behind the people in that garage door area. Like, paint can/fill kind of amateur hour. My guess is the military guy and KJU's head were added to an otherwise mundane photo. No idea on source. I could see an argument that having alpha male surrounded by fearful women is good for the masculine image in a backwards culture. But I could also see this being a product of just about anyone with obviously-rudimentary skills with an axe to grind too. |
