You don't have bagged milk in the states? Always thought that was just a regular way to sell it.

Not for consumer use, cartons and jugs are it here. The only thing we bag for consumers are our bulk wines.

Commercial applications like restaurants and cafeterias have bagged milk, but use special dispensers for it.

There is nothing regular about bagged liquids of any kind.  What advantage could there possibly be?  I honestly cannot think of a single thing.

Cheaper containter.

Packaging is cheaper.

Well the original form of dairy comes in bags, not cartons. Perhaps it's also an homage.

Those milkbags are funbags, too. Fun for everyone who doesn't have to clean up after stumbling while walking around with it, but still a certain potential for fun and hilarity.

We used to get it that way when I was a kid. Advantages:

You never had the milk crusties you get around the edges of a carton.
When placed in a proper jug, one can pull it from the fridge and pour it with one hand - no need to pry anything open.
Containers took up less space in the garbage (no one recycled anything back then)

Everyone had proper jugs made specifically for putting bagged milk in:

I don't lose much sleep over milk crusties
I would much prefer using a second hand if it meant the milk wasn't exposed to the rest of the fridge air
But surely cardboard is better for the environment?

And the potential negative list seems quite long.  Also, the pic with the sack of milk in the jug is odd as fuck  awesome, for real

Happy to report all I see are plastic bottles of milk in Poland.  Though only small bottles.  I can't seem to find a gallon of milk anywhere for some strange reason...

Cartons is how I've always bought it, I think the bagged stuff sells cheaper usually 3 bags of milk per bag.Jugs I don't think we have at least not that I remember seeing but I don't drink the stuff just cook with it.

The best part of the "do not touch" sign is the awkward way it's taped to the thing you're not supposed to touch.
