Its lovely to see BW celebrate his own name day from time to time  awesome, for real

I should get back to nature, too.  You know, like going to a shop for groceries instead of the computer.  Maybe a condo in the woods that doesn't even have a health club or restaurant attached.  Buy a car with only two cup holders or something. -Signe

Well, point of clarification: Is it a BW if its not been on F13, but I've seen the image/joke/etc posted on the internets over the years? If the former, my humble apologogolgololgies.

Yeah I knew there was one, I was asking why she wasn't in the line up.  BTW is her name Sassy?  I bet it's Sassy.

Princess Tiana. Other good thing about her is that she's a decent female role model by Disney Princess standards. She wants to run a business and own the best restaurant in town and in the end, it's the prince who gives everything up to be with her totally subverting the usual perception that "princesses" need to be saved.

Tianna.  While the message that the princess must be saved is subverted it also says, "No, no, no. Black people can't just  be *born* princesses.  They have to earn it."    Any message can be subverted depending on the viewer's filters and outlook.

I'd bet the bears have a small ravine between them and the public.  Because brown bears can't jump?

Well, yeah, but the filter applied in that case is one of "cynic who hasn't seen the film". Oh ho ho ho. Reallllly?

Saw it, just repeating a criticism I remember hearing at the time from, omg, an actual African American interviewed on the local news.

Other criticisms I've seen are:
1) That once again, it took a white man to help a black woman succeed.  This is two separate criticisms and the 'needed a man' one I don't agree with any more than the 'why couldn't the prince be black' one but I understand where the arguers are coming from.

2) That Tiana wasn't 'black enough' and instead looks more Latina. Maybe they could have made her darker, like Grace Jones, so I get some of this.  From an animation standpoint I get why Disney didn't do it, though. I don't get how she looks Latina at all, however.

Well, she is Cajun and not African, so there is that I suppose.  She is of African descent, but probably not completely pureblood.

And why is she subverting the male role model in the movie? Clearly a feminist agenda.

Welp, as much fun as it would be to engage in a dialectic about the feminist principles behind some of the more recent Disney Princess stories, this isn't the thread for it. So

I have no idea what this is or DraconianOne's image above because they are just a single white pixel even if I copy and paste the URLs - they are both from the same site which doesn't seem to allow direct linking to the images.

The bears, is that in Sequim? Totally looks like it. If so that's the Olympic game farm and yes that flimsy fence is basically all there is. You are however in your car and they are retired movie animals.
