My quick summary, based on it being the only topic on Sports Radio for a month:
Penn State University
- late 90s, Jerry Sandusky - a coach there - abused a variety of his players over several years
- reports state that various university officials and senior members of the football program knew, and covered it up
- Joe Paterno was the head coach at the time, and it is widely assumed that he new, or should have known, and ignored it
Joe Paterno (who died six months ago) was the most winning coach in College Football history, until yesterday, when the NCAA stripped 111 of the team's wins. They University fired Paterno a few months before he died, and recently took down his statue.
So, yea - bad taste joke, but I'll admit I laughed.

He set up a charity to help young boys, used the allure of his connections and access to the Penn State football program to lure them into campus showers, then raped them, for years and years. He was caught or reported a couple of times, the higher ups at the University knew about it, and it was hushed up and scraped under the carpet. |
