Heh, I remember Alter Ego having a ton of opportunities to get yourself killed or really hurt as a kid. Less so once you reach the adult chapters.

Looking back, what's great about the game is that those dozen character stats leave you feeling that every decision may be important, even if the individual story segments are self-contained.

Or you could possibly look at http://www.playalterego.com/ which seems like a reimplementation of it. (I haven't played the original, so I don't know how it matches)

Cyno's lit, bridge is up, but one pilot won't be jumping home.
