f I had to recommend some must own games for the 360 I'd say Gears of War, Forza 2, Fight Night Round 3, and possibly Guitar Hero 2 (although waiting for Rock Band is also an option).

Substitute NCAA 08 for Gears of War and you named my entire 360 catalog so far!

Damn you Schild. I was already looking at alot of 360 games but now I find several PS2 games (besides Persona 3 which I'll pick up tomorrow). Growlanser for one. Maybe Suikoden assuming it is on PS2. (I didn't see it in that screenshot.)

Xbox Live has a serious shortage of crotchety scots.

I read that as crotch shots for some reason. I was going to direct you where to find a few.

Wow, didn't realize that Jeanne D'Arc was coming out so soon. That new PSP design needs to drop fast or miss Joan of Arc is going to run right into FFT, and that's probably not good for her or my GPA.

The rest of my money sink is: Persona 3, Dragoneer's Aria, GW: EN, ET: QuakeWars, FFT, and HL2: Ep2. Bioshock is a maybe, simply because I'm absolutely horrible at finishing FPSs' single player. Six to eight games and a PSP, I'm fucked.

Oddly, consoles bore the shit out of me in the way you all describe MMOGs.  Two games on that list look interesting to me, but since I don't own, nor have the desire to own, a PSP, there goes that.

Of course, I also feel that games are a waste of my money if I don't get at least 70+ hours out of them. Go figure.

Holy shit I see games I may actually buy on there. Hmmm, another Mana title for the DS? Will it inevitably suck like every Mana title after the first SNES title?

Play the Dragon Quest series.  Each game is easily 70-80 hours plus and you get to grind before you're powerful enough to defeat even the first sub-boss.

Game length for me is a lot like movie length.  Really long and really short are just fine as long as there isn't a lot of stalling or a "skip to the end" moment.  A well done 8 hour game can even be worth the 50-60 dollars you pay for it, although some of those slip into the "rip off" category.

Only games I have reservations about their length in my upcoming list may be Blue Dragon, which I feel will feel too long, and Stranglehold, which I'll probably beat in a few sessions.

Truthfully, I'd skip Dead Rising if I were you.  Don't get me wrong, it's a great game, but it's effectively destroyed by Japanese masochistic bullshit.  The time limit save system just kills any real enjoyment I got from the game, to the point where I just don't have the will to really dig deep into it.  Of course, I'm the type of player who does not enjoy a challenge.  I'm impatient, and don't enjoy frustration.  All my games are set to easy, I play for love of the game, not to pull my fucking hair out.

The game is pretty easy outside of a few of the psycho battles, which are mainly bullshit.  There's an easy strategy though: stock up on shotguns and lead pipes.  Anything you can close to melee on goes down easy with a lead pipe and everything else has little counters to the shotgun.  The fights that don't fit into this category can be cheesed with LOS.

There's one surefire, can't loose attitude to having fun with Dead Rising.  People are going to die in a zombie apocalypse.  Too bad for them.   That and.. you can always just ignore the plot and kill zombies.

Forza 2 is an absolute can't miss though.  I don't think I've heard anyone not like that game yet.

Edit.  Uggg.  Hat trick.

I have to be honest.  The fact that other people are having fun with stuff I don't have seriously pisses me off.  It takes every bit of will power I have not to buy every single thing I see.  I only stop myself in the hopes that some day I will develop character.  Really.  I'm not lying.

Yeah I've been working through DQ8 off and on. The problem there is I haven't hooked the PS2 up to my PC monitor so I can watch TV and game like I can while on the pc.   I was doing good on FF12, too, until I got enough slots to make the game play itself.  It got pretty damn boring after that.

It's also hard to get mad at other people for spending money on "silly things" when I'm buying video games.

Hehe. I use that to my advantage by trying to get the wife to buy silly things so I don't feel guilty for buying video games that I don't finish/play more than 2 hours.  It's a vicious cycle of spending.

Heh, I booted it back up for the first time since getting the Wii and my old file has 73 hours logged. I haven't even finished the last level yet! I ended up starting a new game just so I could make the trees bloom and feed the animals without grinding to get 100% on every species.

Besides that, I think the game has only been released in Germany so far (at the beginning of May, and only on the PC).  I still expect the game to be shit mind you.

He may have views on the industry as a whole that many do not agree with here, but the man has excellent taste in games for the most part (I disagree on most genres that I dislike anyhow). And he's talking about what OTHER people are saying about it.

Go look around, I've yet to find much positive that's being said about this game.   The one positive review I've seen reads like a 10 year old's book report.  The person writing that is either borderline retarded or 12.   From all accounts, it sounds like a generic, derivative hunk of crap with technical problems up the wazoo and terrible controls.

Edit: Why settle for something like Two Worlds when there's such a bounty at hand? The days of scrapping for decent games on the 360 are over.

Im not saying this game is going to be good. I have no experience with it whatsoever.

Yeah, that review was ether written by a retard, or more likely, since the game has only been released in Europe, im going to assume that is was some one that was ESL writing it, or it was translated to english.

What? How? Huh?

I had caveats in my SW:G review. They were never met. Therefore it is shite. You can't blame me for not delivering. See the rant from a few days ago. I told SOE that it needed CD and would run like shit. I was right.

The lack of any games for the 360 (and consoles in general) that allow me to run around with my buddy smacking things around in a fantasy setting has me grasping for anything.  What I really want is co-op Elder Scrolls.

I'm sure many would consider you wrong about LoZ:TP, a game which was well received by most, but somehow was one of the main factors in your boycott of first party Nintendo console games.

Though I may have thrown the blame on TP for really tipping me over the edge, it's really the Wii's fault in general. TP was just an (imo) uninspired Zelda that gave me no reason to play it. And the mishandling of the Gamecube port just fueled the fire. Remember, I bought TP twice, only to be fucked by one and donkeypunched by the other. Wii Fit put the final nails in that coffin though.

I don't know whether that means I'm getting older and losing my game cred, or if Wow has affected and damaged the Game centers of the brain, whether my life is changing or whether BIOSHOCK OWNS ALL.

I know the feeling.  It's a little depressing to look at all those games and not give a crap about almost all of them.  I'm long off the WoW addiction, but actually I think it started a few years earlier anyway.  WoW actually gave me more of a resurgent interest in gaming when I first got into it.  But boy am I glad to be done with MMOs now.

I'll tell you why I don't like LoZ:TP.  It's a base GC port to Wii.  It also brings nothing new to the series aside from OOOH DARK.  It smells of change-your-sequel-based-on-complainers-who-didn't-like-Wind-Waker and therefore belongs in the same category as Prince of Persia: Warrior Within.  I played it for a while but I got bored with it, mostly because I have already played this game and its sequel.  The Wiimote added to ranged attacks and menu navigation but otherwise didn't improve the control scheme much; mind you I do like the Wiimote when used properly.  Waving it in random directions to perform a canned sword attack is not properly, in my opinion.  TP is also exceedingly brown.

Wii Fit, to me, signaled the end of Nintendo's commitment to the gamers.  Where goes Miyamoto, Nintendo follows.  From here on out, it's Brain Age, Abdominal Age and Ass Age; you're looking at the new Bowflex.  I suspect it will also have ads on SciFi in the same place as BowFlex does now, once BSG returns.  I'm not angry at Nintendo, besides this isn't the first time they have shifted their core business; I bet there were plenty of sore yakuza that bitched about them not making playing cards in favor of those damn video games as well, in the hot baths instead of a web forum.  However they don't appear to be making games for me anymore.  For my wife and boy, yes, but not for me.
