I'm staying at the Valley Ho - a somewhat retro hotel.

Swank.  Taking that one into consideration.  I love that style.

If you have $$$ see if you can swing the Phoenician . I stayed there once and it was fucking awesome. For spa/pool/service anyway.

Looks nice as well, and closer than the place we really want to stay, The Boulders.  Seems like we were going to stay at some other place called Phoenician on some other untaken trip, perhaps on some island.

What, sofas aren't classy enough anymore?

I will have to tell you about the various places I have lived in the past, especially the ones with Killjoy.  The short answer is: No.  Someone is going to rub my fucking back and make me feel special while I'm in Arizona.

Why am I homeless?  Why do all you motherfuckers need homes is the real question.

If driving distance or time to anything in the south valley is a consideration, you probably don't want to be up at the boulders..  its about 30-35 minutes from there to central Scottsdale, and nearly 45 to the Chandler/Mesa area. Without traffic.

I booked this room:

Yeah the Valley Ho is pretty styling actually, very kitsch but done just right. They're actually having a sale atm on rooms in this time-frame, I assume July/Aug are slow tourist months in the desert heh.

A tub right in the middle of the room? How odd.

Also, is there an actual shower in there somewhere?

Umm... won't you get electrofried?

I won't suggest electrofried for the spellcheckmahoobie because the last time I did someone shouted at me.

Looks more appropriate to play Marat, but please don't.

Just saw this and thought I would link it. Airfair specials to/from Phoenix in July on Southwest. Must book by May 31.

We weighed the options and compromised, so we are staying at my wife's pick (nyuk, nyuk), The Boulders.  I am perfectly fine with that because I am not planning on being on some sort of schedule and we are renting a convertible.

Just wanted to toss this out there for you guys.  Anyone coming to the shindig who wants to get tattooed can't be sunburned.  I know it's tempting to go out in the 120 degree heat and play with the scorpions, but please, show some restraint.

I just got a mental image of a half dozen people walking around in jawa robes to keep the sun off them. Thanks for the chuckle.

I was just thinking, we should make f13 shirts and all go to PAX and get Schild hella drunk and start some fights w/ the Octagonians or something?

Also I'm still considering Pheonix in a tiny seldom listened-to part of my brain.. so beware!

A nation consists of its laws. A nation does not consist of its situation at a given time. If an individual's morals are situational, then that individual is without morals. If a nation's laws are situational, that nation has no laws, and soon isn't a nation.

A question just hit me.  Do you guys have a copy of Risk/Axis & Allies, or something in that vein over there?  I mean, if we're gonna be nerding it up we might as well not do it half-assed.

I already play Diplomacy when I play Risk.  Manipulating people, forming alliances, etc?  Yeah, that's already in Risk, and it's got better mechanics.

Yeah, I've got a copy of Risk that I can bring over... but with all the drinking and tattooing how will we find the time?

I think BG should have a multi-coloured name (God, Trippy will hate me for suggesting this) and the grief title:  "Official F13 Tatter" or sommat if this happens.

Not since 1997, and it will never happen again, I can guarantee you that.  I'll follow Groucho Marx' advice, the next time I feel like getting married I'll just find a woman I hate and buy her a house.
