He has kids and teachers don't give a fuck about parent's schedules.

My daughter's band teacher routinely scheduled concerts for 5pm because he wanted to be home by 8.  Fuck that guy.

Why the hell were you at a choir concert on a Monday?
My kid's a baritone?  Spring Concert. School's out in a few weeks, and at least down here they have a Fall and Spring Concert (the first near Christmas, the latter near the end of school) and various recitals, competitions, and the like.

My kid's recital was yesterday. (Sophmore). Turns out the kid can sing in Italian. (He does not like to practice where anyone can hear him, so actually hearing him perform is, well, limited to performances). He gets his musical talent from his mom.

I was in band. :) My wife can sing, but while I have a solid sense of pitch, I cannot for the life of me manage to adapt the sounds coming out of my mouth to the proper notes. I mean, everyone does that "Is that what I sound like?" crap when they hear a recorded version of themselves, but whatever skill or ability lets people sing anyways is just totally lost on me.

Whatever sound I'm hearing myself make is NOT the sound everyone else is making.

Edited to add: It was at 7:30 and less than an hour. Not too bad, as these things go.

Goodwill is too hipster.

You need to shop at the Goodwill's in the shittier parts of town.

I live in San Antonio.  It's all the shittier part of town.   awesome, for real

If you get out that way when it's open, yes.  It should be in another few weeks based on the last emails I saw about it from the GCS.

It was supposed to be their new prototype, and I did the drawings after the design team handed it off.  I want some impressions  Oh ho ho ho. Reallllly?

I have a nice Oak coffee table I inherited, that doesn't fit in my current couch configuration. So I went and bought a $40 piece of crap from Ikea that fits perfectly. I'd guess that more than half my furniture is from Ikea, but when your a poor guy on a single income, the place can be a lifesaver.

Oh, school's already out here. Thus the confusion.

Just to give you an idea when I say I live in the sticks. Closest Ikea is in Paramus NJ, 191 miles away.

HAH. No, not the sticks. Closest Ikea is two states away to the east or west, minimum 6 hour drive. You live in the heart of civilization by comparison.

Some parts of NJ are in the sticks.  Srsly.  Scary sticks, too.  Like the Pine Barrens.  You don't want to get caught out there after dark.  It's where dead serial killers hang out.

Also, on a terrifying note:  My sister just started playing WoW.   ACK!

I think you have to drive 191 miles just to get out of San Antonio.

A few months ago, I finally got my year in at work to be able to apply for tuition aid for classes.  I apply, and am denied, as expected.  I mean, my job is writing technical processes for our customers... and the class is a technical writing class for PRDs, instructions and processes.  However, my job is technically in the support area, and this is an MIS class.

So today, they decide to send out a "don't forget we have tuition aid" email, to which I replied and asked about an appeals process.  To which they explained that they have none.  At this point, ah fuck it.

In order to be approved for tuition aid, I have to be working in the job that I'd need the class for.  Yet to get the job, I'd pretty much need to have the class.

Every company works this way, all of them need to stop it.   swamp poop

edit: I mean HALF of my job is writing processes.

First time ever!  I made her play Wizard 101 about a year and a half ago.  That was her first ever MMORPG.  Before then, she'd only played Angry Birds, Solitaire and chase the little bugs on the screen game.  She graduated to LOTRO when I told her there was a free game with hobbitses in it.  And a couple of weeks ago she partitioned her Mac and downloaded the free trial of WoW.  Now she's an addict.  She even dreams about games.   ACK!
