My mom last had hair below her shoulders when she was in high school.  She's had it boy-short ever since.  My dad has a similar length (aka very short).  Mom used to give me her haircut against my will when I was younger up through high school.  I'm eternally rebelling against being forced to have short hair as a kid.

Supposedly chocolate milk has nutrients and the ability to restore energy while keeping up your metabolic rate for a while after exercise, so people who like it now have an excuse to drink it after working out.  Whether it makes an actual difference... probably not.  Personally I just drink water.

If you ever needed proof that McAfee is a plague, I have a story for you.

We bought a handful of Lenovo laptops at the Library to replace the ones we have for departments to use for meetings/presentations. As all they do is show Powerpoint presentations and maybe edit a Word document, we don't bother joining them in the domain or using up a volume license for Windows/Office and just use the installed software (Home Premium/Office Starter).

Thus, today I was going through the motions of uninstalling all the bloatware on them when, within a minute of initial boot up, the McAfee on one of them pops up a warning saying "McAfee has detected a Trojan and has cleaned it automatically!" which led me to think, that's odd...wonder what it was. I click the details link and it had deleted C:\\Windows\SysWoW64\msiexec.exe . So within 5 minutes of turning the thing on I was scrambling to figure out how I could restore what is possibly the single most important piece of software in the default Windows installation because the fucking garbage that is McAfee decided to delete it and break pretty much any install/uninstall process.

Luckily I was just able to copy the .exe over from another of the laptops and fix the issue (so I could uninstall McAfee, etc.) but my god it irks me.

I stopped using McAfee when one of their updates (on Enterprise!) nuked a file critical to booting.  The only reason I wasn't completely screwed for a really unpleasant week  is because I was trialing MSSE on my personal machine.

I just use Windows Security Essentials now, because MacAfee's footprint just background running had become bigger than any of my other active programs.

I've been using Kaspersky for a couple of years and have been pretty happy with it.  I see minimal performance issues from it in any regard.

Windows Essentials and Spybot's resident stuff -- teatimer and their IE plug-in -- and my PC has been remarkably free of malware or adware. (Immunizing alone is worth running Spybot once a month or so.).

My wife's not so careful. 95% of my recent "Oh fuck, it's got PC herpes" has been her laptop. She seems prone to the crap you have to run ComboBox to fix. She doesn't get infected often enough to have some sort of trojan or rootkit, or often enough to have glaring holes in her security. It's like 4 times a year, like clockwork, she ends up infected with some auto-replicating trojan complete with fake anti-malware program and free password logger.

I spend a full day cleaning the stupid thing, and it's fine for months. Unless virus makers have gone with "Make massively obvious infection -- complete with fake anti-spyware popup install windows and cyrillic processes in memory" and then "let them think they've cleaned it and then hide from all forms of virus scanner and malware scanner for months before doing it again".....

My wife's not that bad. She realizes when she has an infection pretty much right away. My mom, on the other hand -- and my wife's mom as well -- end up in toolbar hell. Every couple of months I need to log onto their computer and see 43 million toolbars and the first thing they say is "oh god, can you get rid of those?"

I think the only toolbar thingy I ever install is the google search one.

Firefox has a crappy implementation of this, basically works the same way as Chrome but if you only type 1 word it thinks it is an internet address.
