I'm still confused as to how people believe social media/gaming makes investors money.

More importantly it was at around $12 when a certain amazing man decided he wanted to sell before everyone else to "stabilize the stock."
It was an event that was quite easily one of the most dumbfounding, greed-driven things I've ever seen done by an executive. As for everyone else, they got to eat nothing but shit.

Yay, Phoenix/Scottsdale is due to hit 107 on Friday. It hit 81 here at home yesterday, and we consider that a hot summer day.
At least they're putting me in a hotel with a pool (can you even call it a hotel in Phoenix, considering there are no buildings over two stories tall?) People keep asking me if I'm going golfing - I just look at them like they are insane.
Don't get me wrong, we have deserts in British Columbia that do actually reach 100 degrees. Difference is, all our desert towns surround big beautiful lakes and rivers.

This is, alas, par for the course. I have been in such 'stablising' discussions and they are rarely about anything other than sheer naked greed and the desire to fuck everyone else.

I'm not sure there's a conscious DESIRE to fuck everyone else, that's just a byproduct of the naked greed thing.

Because nobody here would take advantage of a rare situation to set themselves up monetarily for life.

He was already set up for life. There's a difference between taking advantage of a situation and pure greed.

This still doesn't answer my question as to how anybody believed this would make money. Their financial documents are frankly horrifying. They picked up a billion in a public offering and promptly blew it with a $400M loss in 2011. Morons.

I get in trouble when I point this out to people. People who talk about how great a certain company or two are and how well they treat everyone (customers and employees) get even more offended. I think I've lost friends over these discussions.

Is this where we were discussing what to wear at work? I was thinking about it today, so here's my take. Simply put, if you want to play ball, you have to wear the uniform.
I suppose there are a couple types of companies. Smaller ones work like a sports team. Everyone is working together for a common goal, and the opposition is Everyone Else. In this case, you wear the uniform that is agreed on. Maybe suits, maybe jeans, but you aren't going to have a good team if there are mavericks wearing ties in a office where people are expected to wear beards and hoodies. Yes, "whatever I found in the hamper" is a uniform if everyone does it.
The larger companies are more toward the "George R. R. Martin" end of the scale. If you work in the kitchens, you wear what the kitchen wenches wear instead of finery: uniform. If you are someone that spends time dealing with the court, you have to wear something accepted, or you will end up wherever people are that dress like you. Furthermore, the "higher" you rise, the more important it is to play The Game, which means you wear the uniform.

Yep, totally on the nose.
Even the partner in my firm who wears shorts on a regular basis knows to suit-up if meeting clients or going off-site. There's a game to be played and it's all about your company's culture and your own desire to move about within it.

In an "I hate modern society" moment...we can no longer have bake sales or bring in baked goods for events. Food cannot be served/sold that was not prepared in a Health Dep't inspected kitchen.

Today's quote.
Don't shoot humans out of your vagina.
Seriously, it makes otherwise rational women into retards. Apologies to any women who have children and thus make retarded decisions based on them.
Speaking only for myself, I can verify this. It took years for my brain to get back to resembling normal. I have no idea how the new Yahoo ceo is going to be able to do her job while and after having a baby, if she's anything like me. Maybe sticking the kid into daycare and getting him/her away from the mother allows quicker recovery.
