So ATT -- after pissing me off two weeks ago -- makes it back out, and now I have U-verse. I don't have the awesome wireless thingy (I mean, I have the wireless network they installed, but not the wireless tv to tv system -- my TVs are sadly all plugged into walls). My broadband speeds went from "sometimes almost 3.0 Mbps" to "16+ Mbps" and I am ridiculously happy.
I also added HBO to satisfy my wife's Game of Thrones addiction (I enjoy the show too, but she's been...antsy as shit to see the rest of the first season). And I'm still aving a pretty good chunk of money over before.
My anger at ATT has diminished greatly by having a functioning service.
Also, the existance of internet provider wireless networks is both a blessing and a curse.
A blessing because it automagically makes people like my parents have "secured fucking wireless networks" which they otherwise would not. A curse in that I can't dick around with the settings. At least not yet. I don't like having hardware I can't control though.

Baby Cheddar born today- premature but in very, very good shape. Wife is good- everything went very smooth and quick. Sad part is it could be weeks before we bring him home (born just shy of 34 weeks)  . BUT- I am totally not complaining. As I said he is in good shape and the nurses are very surprised at how robust he is.

Saw a display at JC Penney with clearance jeans, $8 a pair. I buy most of my clothes online now, from places that have decent granularity in sizing. I have been getting fed up with off the rack being so off-sized for me. There is one joint in town where I can get my jeans tailored, but even there it's tough because modern jeans are full of fail, baggy saggy and downright DIRTY. What the hell. I also found out I wear slim shirts, that was a total revelation. I hate baggy clothes. I need to make enough money to buy my clothes tailored imo.

I'm not sure where it's going wrong, or indeed if it's me going wrong. Anyone know Perl ?  I do know perl, but I'm not volunteering for unpaid work, ESPECIALLY debugging someone else's perl code. I do like perl a great deal but it's best kept to oneself. Because it can be a bit difficult to parse by a human.

Now I need to ask why. OTOH, WebEx can be a beautiful thing. I just got done walking my boss's boss's boss through accessing our lovely, lovely SAP system so he can start approving POs finally. It's a wonderful start to the week.

Well, I paid off my Chapter 13 a year early so I am finally free from my bankruptcy (the monthly payments, anyways). But as of today I am also unemployed so I am a little sad.
Fortunately my parents were ecstatic about me moving back west to stay with them for awhile. So I am sad and happy.

You should write a Perl script to help you parse it. Great idea, since it would take too many lines in awk. (It's probably an error in your hastily crafted regexp)

Yay Home Inspectors.
So, just had my condo inspected last night. Everything is going great until the inspector pulls out his CO detector. Everything checks out at the fireplace, then the guy heads to the hot water tank (which has been running hard, since he just tested the dishwasher and washing machine). His little meter starts beeping. I go over and look - waving it all around the tank itself, it hits a peak rating of 5ppm CO. He then goes on about how dangerous this is, how there's likely something like a birds nest blocking the exhaust, etc. Realtor gets freaked out. Buyers come in, and he freaks them out too.
So the Realtor wants me to contact Strata, get this taken care of, wants updates, the works. Advise him I'll address it first thing in the morning. They leave.
Crawled out my bedroom window to check the exhaust pipe - its clear.
Do a little research online - everything I can find suggests that 5ppm is the upper range of normal for an older water heater. Hell, apparently the average gas range emits up to 15ppm when in use. Based on what the EPA says, I could stand beside that water tank for 8 hours breathing in the fumes without the slightest effect. Once you move more than two feet away, the readings were 1 ppm or less (you can get more than that from a cigarette in the room).
Now I just have to convince their realtor that his inspector doesn't know what he's talking about.

In my experience this works the exact opposite way, If a Realtor picks the home inspector they usually pick the one that is the least likely to find any issues. They just want the deal to close as quickly as possible so they can get back to their real job of finding more clients.

And this Realtor knows that I have no money to work with here. If they make any costly demands at all, he knows the deal will fall through.
I'm hoping that if I call a certified repair place this morning and they agree with my assesment, that I can get them to just drop any demands regarding it. Maybe I'll offer to buy them a CO detector.

Anybody who is following around a home inspector of a condo is looking for trouble. Then again, I don't blame them. Buyers markets mean they can be extremely picky. I still by my previous advice. It's a condo, try to get as close to break-even as you can and get out now! Is the realtor YOUR realtor? Or is he their realtor?

Their Realtor. The price we agreed to is basically my break even price, and I'm pretty sure they realize that. They also know I can't afford to not break even.
The whole thing is silly, because I know there is nothing really wrong with the heater - I'm just trying to avoid delays in removing the subjects, so that I can go sign the lease on the place I'm moving in to. If I lose that place over an overzealous inspector, I'm going to be pissed.

Does their realtor get paid if you sell to them? Did he/she recommend your place or did the buyer bring them in after the deal was close to done?
There may be an incentive for the realtor to get them to look elsewhere where they can make a higher commission. If that's the case, you should present these facts to the buyer when you also discuss the heater issue. Realtors almost always want to close a deal as fast as possible so they can get paid, unless they aren't going to get paid as much. Bringing in their own inspector sounds like they are trying to queer your deal.

In Texas a realtor isn't allowed to even suggest an inspector. I think she was able to give me a list of several clients had used before, but that was it.

Yea, this Realtor, representing the Buyer, brought in his own guy.
Ultimately, it was in the Realtor's interest to close the deal, as I actually talked the buyers up 14k from their original offer. The Realtor gets paid a percentage of the sale price.
Turns out, my Realtor stepped up and did her job - she put the other guy in his place, and got him to settle on us just sending a formal letter to Strata requesting an inspection of the venting (with no requirement that it be done before completion). Everything should be cleared by tomorrow, yay!
Stress of this mess really screwed with my ability to sleep. The world is a strange place on two hours sleep and my fourth or fifth large coffee of the day.
