Is anyone aware of a way to scam with PayPal?  Still trying to sell these bikes, and the scammers are pretty blatantly obvious.  Usually they ask to send a check of money order, but I've had a couple asking to use PayPal.  It's a little discouraging if there is a loophole in PayPal.

Dishonest people can always argue the item was never delivered and file a claim.  Paypal will yank the money out of your account until the matter is settled.  Then you are out the item and the money for it.  Paypal has a pretty nasty reputation of letting scammers do this with no recourse for the seller.

Paypal/eBay also has a record of knee-jerk decisions regardless of evidence.

For example, they denied a claim of mine simply because the seller had "delivery confirmation" on the package.  Problem is, the delivery went to suite 100 (and sat there for 60 days) instead of suite 1000.   swamp poop

My wife has had a terrible headache for the past 2 days.  I chalked it up to being pregnant, but maybe it's something else.

Security theater test number one passed. Now to survive the next few hours sitting in O'Hare's lovely departure lounges!

So flying thru ORD in may is awesome! Ground stop delayed us so that we would miss our connection in Charlotte so they booked us on the direct flight on Aer Lingus. The bonus is that we will def get there when we planned. The downside is that the flight doesn't leave until 645 so we get to hang out in the checkin area in the international terminal until they open the desk at 315.

I am going to feel like Tom Hanks by the time we finally leave.

Proof it is all security theater: I forgot to take my zipper baggie out of my bag at security and they didn't care!

I did get the random pat down after the back scatter X-ray tho.

You don't want to know how many times I've gone through security with liquids and gels in a ziplock bag that I didn't bother to take out and no one said anything.  And how I traveled with a lighter to and from New York twice in my suitcase before realizing it was there.

We send people out on a regular basis to survey spaces we're putting new retail stores in.  A few months back one guy had flown to and returned from NYC with a boxcutter he'd forgotten was in his briefcase.   So, yeah, quality is job 1.

Urgh, array overrun #453 found and fixed. I'm so sick of seeing the same damn bug in ways just different enough that my "search the code for similar shit and fix it" scan doesn't catch it.

Worse yet, I'm having to hack it fixed. An actual real fix to prevent it from happening again is scheduled for beta.

God damn the Europeans have better mobile phone options/pricing. I paid €20 for a prepay card from Three. Has a 15GB data cap on their network which is effectively unlimited for what I will be using (and it is fast and stable the bit I used it today). They also bill per second and if I were to call back home it will only cost me 35 cents a minute. The girl in the store called that expensive and I laughed and told her how much a minute Sprint was going to charge me to call home.

Only problem I have so far is that I did not have the +1 on the front of a lot of my contacts so when I switched sims my message history got all goofy.

This also struck me as significant when I moved back to Europe last summer.  The mobile phone plans are orders of magnitude cheaper than in the US, at least where I am.  Can only conclude that it is due to the fact that there is a lot of competition, almost a ridiculous number of options.

May depend on country.  I know when I was in Turkey (decade ago) it was, literally, pocket change.

Anyone know Latin?  Specifically, what would "I think, therefore I am wrong" translate as?

(Or I could just go with Cogito ergo derp)

Iain's doesn't make grammatical sense, I don't think -- possible translations are "I think, therefore apple" or "I think, therefore (it) wrong."  I think he was going for "Cogito ergo malus sum" -- "I think, therefore I am wrong."  If you're a girl it'd be "mala" instead of "malus".  If you're neither (or if you want to say that you are an apple) it'd be "malum".

Cogito ergo coarguor  flows better, I think.  Literally "I think, therefore I am proven wrong."

Recruiter : "So, why'd you leave your last job?"

Me (thinking to self) : "It met every major and minor criteria on this list, plus the company is in a death spiral."

Me (responding out loud) : "I felt it was time for a change."   Ohhhhh, I see.
