My stove saga pt XIII: finally got the plumbers in, burning my last day off for the year (that I was saving for TOR early access). Not ten minutes after they leave, I get a call from LG.

Stove delivery back ordered to JANUARY 20th.

Ordered on Oct 26. I flew off the fucking handle, the guy gave me some jive about not being able to connect to the corporate phone system to approve a compensation.

It's  why so serious? at this point, I'm just laughing and waiting to see what happens next.

The death of the cabinet game has made D&B suck quite a lot compared to just going to a pool hall.
Which is why I don't go to them anymore.  Boring as hell to do DDR clones, Deer Hunter, and other lame garbage gimmicky junk.  I'd rather go to the local dive bar and play pool there.  At least there it's an escape from the rugrats and the karaoke fans there are actually quite good.

I sorta was dismissive of the severe weather warnings, but it's not even 9 in the morning here and things are going mental.

I suspect many Bothan Glaswegians may die trying to get home today.

Good dammit, PMs.  Fucking tell me that an invoice needs to be moved as project capital instead of project expense when you give me the damn thing to process!!  I'm not fucking psychic and the default is expense, which means that once again I have to process a reclassification for all these invoices because you are an idiot!  A double idiot actually, since I specifically requested that PMs update me about how an invoice is to be moved when I sent out the note about which invoices paid out during November!!!  The note I sent out on 11/28, which was well before the 12/1 date I sent in the process requests to Finance.

GRRRR!!!

I wouldn't be so upset if it weren't for the fact that I asked this month, since I knew a few PMs had capital invoices versus expense ones.  He never replied or responded to my message so I went with the default.

I remember that it snowed in London back in '94.  It was utter fucking chaos.  I would have thought that you guys were better prepared for that sort of stuff.

I love snow as well. Last year was the first year in 16 years that I didn't get to a ski hill. No skiing, no snowboarding. I will be correcting that this year.

You can't enjoy a woodstove without cold. The colder the better. It's so nice to come inside from a bitterly cold sub-zero flurry into a nice 80º house with a crackling fire.

I miss my family's old wood burning stove.  It was awesome.  Except when my dad got the great idea to move it down to the basement, just the two of us.  I was 8.

We have a Californian guy in the office (Hi Cancklebiter!) and now we have to have the window closed all the time because if the temperature is ever less than a picodegree less than the surface of the sun he moans about how cold it is. I like the cold and keep my apartment at a nice, comfortable 15º or so (59º for those of you in developing nations) and it's just horrible to be in a small office with five guys and the window closed all day.

And this would be why *I* like snow.   Traffic was always much better in Cleveland winters than it was in the summers.

Be glad I didn't come over, then. I'd install a pot-bellied stove in the corner and feed it cordwood all winter!

But then you could keep the window open, so....

Tell him to shut the hell up and put on a sweater or jacket.  It's one thing for someone to insist it be hot when you can't easily cool off, but to insist everyone else be cold because he doesn't like it that way, tough toenails.  I put up with my office being freezing year-round by putting on extra layers and not whining.

I used to work in a corporate bank office with a bunch of really... heavy people, when I was much skinnier than I am now. They kept that damn place at about 60 degrees year round.

The thing I want to know is, why the hell are these old people out in rush hour traffic? What the hell are they doing? Golfing should be at most 2 miles from their giant coffins.

Have to leave early so they can get their errands done by 11 and get a 3 hour nap before dinner.

I'm closing out my first year of driving the speed limit. I've left quite a trail of angry people that I've blockaded their efforts at law-breaking. It's been a great experience, making sure I leave earlier and don't need to rush, really get to enjoy the drive and scenery. And be amazed at how awful many people drive.

Then I do my old trick of going to walmart and realizing most of the people there drove in. Chilling.

Although my favorite driving experience this year was following a drunk driver through a whiteout on the way back from the Chris Cornell show. That was amazing.

Yeah I've been driving slower since I got the new car, myself.  Amazing how much more gas is saved going 55 (the posted limit) instead of 65.  If I'm feeling really keen I'll even kick on the cruise control so I don't do the subconscious acceleration thing when people are riding my bumper.

I do use cruise control a lot now. It's nice for really long stretches of 30mph.

I just bought this for my LotR geek coworker. He owns almost every edition of the books ever printed, tons of LotR games. I couldn't resist because it just looked so totally dorky.
