Run away.  Run away as quick as you can.

Access is shite and I'm amazed anyone still uses it for anything.

Further, you're going to learn sweet fuck all.

Always an option.  It's never too early to run from MS Access.

Access was horrible years ago, when I got sucked into doing bugfixes on a access/VB based inventory/shipping/trucking program. It made me realize how great my flaky, unstableish, poorly paying job really is.

Run, or convince them to do something else. Tell them you have an access phobia. If that fails, call in with Dengue Fever.

Well, hell.  Looks like the husband is out of a job, most likely right after the new year.  In fact, it looks as if the bank is going to be getting rid of a lot of staff (managers) and replacing them with cheap drones indoctrinated with the company cool-aid.

His boss tried "cheering" him up by saying "at least it won't happen before the holidays!"   Ohhhhh, I see.  Like going through the holidays knowing you're going to get fired after the numbers are in for December is a good thing?  And said boss also asked if the husband had started looking for new positions yet, and when Mr. RF said no, boss asked "why not?"  swamp poop

I hate life sometimes.

That sounds like the boss' ok to use company resources and time for the job hunt to me!

Sorry to hear it, Rhyssa.

Is anyone here responsible for the HP System Insight Manager software?

It is an older project that is already based on it. However lots of modifications are required, but its the starting point and requirement. Even if in the end i use nothing from the other project ( Likely ) They key factor is its a DB multiple users will be using and the front end needs to be web based. If that makes any sense.

I suppose my question is, just how complicated is using MS access? And if any of you have any info I can ingest about the subject that helped you in the past.
Migrate it to MySQL or MSSQL as soon as possible.  For your own sanity, if not that of geeks everywhere.

Blah, first visible dusting of snow for the season.  It won't actually survive the sun coming out, but the grass was covered fairly well in a few spots on the way to work.

Indeed.  I even described what would break in detail to tech support at the company in question.  However, given that this product is designed to >only< install on SBS systems, which by default must be domain controllers, the sheer amount of Facepalm to this workaround is truly mind-boggling.

We transition packed our SBS server to regular Windows, so it's now (well, actually about to become) our forest controller.  RWW is a leftover nicety from the SBS era.  Though SBS can join existing domains as a BDC, in any case (but won't recognize the forest infrastructure).

A web-based front-end for Access is always ALWAYS going to end up badly. If I were you, I'd agree to do it only if they let you shift it over to something made this century that is built for the web like MySQL or MSSQL.

Dying for the chance to go on a date with Scarlett Johansson? Well, here's your chance -- but it'll cost you. The blonde beauty is auctioning off a chance to meet with her on the red carpet for her newest flick, "We Bought A Zoo." So pull out your checkbooks and put up your paddle.

The bidding, which will take place on CharityBuzz.com, is valued at $5,000 and all proceeds will benefit Blessings in a Backpack -- a non-profit that provides meals for more than 55,000 kids in more than 318 schools. The organizations, which is very near and dear to Johansson, provides food for children on the weekends -- when they might normally be provided with little to no food.
