Next up for Nebu: pajamas in public.

Holy shit... do you know my students?  I swear half of them wear pajamas to class.

I did give a lecture at a national meeting once in a t-shirt and a pair of tevas.

I think pajamas in public are just fine.  Almost anything is fine, including outrageous bondage clothing, punk and goth clothes, spandex on chubby women, and strange, shiny short trousers that hang half way down the butt on boys and trendy Schild-like fashionable dressers.  I like seeing variety, even if it's offensive sometimes.  Anything except tiny speedos worn by hairy, sweaty, too tan men on Italian beaches.  (that includes the ones in New Jersey)  I don't know why that makes me gag a little.

But chubby women in spandex is okay?  It's practically the same thing!  ACK!

Nebu gets a pass due to his educational level.  However, I am really getting into the home-office spirit and have not dressed appropriately the past two times I have actually come into the office.

Did I just get deja vu or did we do this bit already?

Me, personally, I'd not argue dress code with someone with a PhD who is also an outdoorsman.  Of the two, I am probably the one that has made bad choices.

I am home again. Nothing beats walking in the door and having a 22pound cat scream, run up and jump directly into your chest for 'shock and awe'

I think Oscar has missed me for the last 8 weeks.

This is only the second remake, right?  I don't even know how many times they've remade Alice in Wonderland and King Solomon's Mines.  And everything Dickens did - they've remade his stuff to death.  Someone's even done a remake of Prom Night.  Bleh.  The world has run out of new stuff.

Is this the prequel, or some other project?  It's the one that has a woman in it, yes?  Women don't belong in a Thing movie.

I didn't even notice that there wasn't any women in that film, but then I hardly remember anything but the gory bits and the fact that it was really very scary.  I liked it, though.  And there was also Kurt Russell, who is yummy.  I thought it was sort of interesting that Adrienne Barbeau was the computer voice.  Isn't she well known because of her boobs?  I don't think I ever saw the first one at all, unless it was on really late one night or really early one morning.  I used to watch a lot of old horror films at odd times years ago.  I looked it up and I don't think there's anyone in it who has a name I recognise!

Anyway, I looked up the new one, too, and it also has no one whose name I recognise.  That's not very reassuring, is it?

Not like John Carpenter's The Thing had much to do with Howard Hawke's The Thing From Another World. Doing a remake that's that far off might work.

Murgos, I take it you mean the original 'The Thing' from 1951 rather than the Carpenter version. The Carpenter version was made in 82, while Alien was made in 79.
