I should get back to nature, too.  You know, like going to a shop for groceries instead of the computer.  Maybe a condo in the woods that doesn't even have a health club or restaurant attached.  Buy a car with only two cup holders or something. -Signe

You know, if nothing else, this thread has taught me that there a lot of people out there who are a lot cleverer than me, working on some very, very, very cool shit.

This kind of stuff isn't exactly new (except for the novelty Wii factor...). There's a lot of stuff being done with digital cameras, projectors, lazers, of this sort. Eg:

I hear ya Lamaros, but at the same time, I think the cool part is that this guy's taking already commercially available, relatively inexpensive products and creating something pretty radically new. Its stuff that could be on the shelves in a matter of a few years if manufacturers get on the ball.

The laser beam painting on the side of a building is cool too, don't get me wrong, but its not exactly commercial grade products they're playing with.

How do you see those two things (the Wii motion tracking trick vs big LASER) as related?  The LASER does track the motion of the pointer but that has pretty much nothing to do with tracking your head motion to create an illusion of depth in a flat surface with off the shelf hardware.

The first one the guy did was basicly exactly the same.

This second one is not exactly the same. But it's still cameras picking up lazers/etc and then running it through a computer to do something.

I'm insulted when parents walk into Gamestop when I'm there and ask if they have any Wiis in stock. I can't imagine what Wii glasses would do to me. Likely, I'd end up throwing a punch.

You have no idea how much I want to scream at people when they complain about Nintendo not making enough consoles and shit. Or why we don't get more consoles.

I also am having an increasingly hard time putting up with people trying to get me to pick out Wii games for them. "Durr, what's popular right now?!"

Yes asshole, pick your games based on popularity. Here ya go, the new Hanna Montana game! It's popular!

I should really apply to work at gamestop, is there an online test I can take to show them my general hatred and disdain for customers?

That is one of the requirements, right?

Awesome, because I _really_ hate people, am I required to rant endlessly about crappy games and stupid customers, and if so, do they provide these rants to me, or do I get a stipend for writing lengthy diatribes on my own time?

Yeah, I saw that on TV, and immediately did a double take. Very ear-catching.

can someone just hand this guy a 25 million or so to design a full fledged game.  I would have said 100 million but he is obviously capable of producing superior results with limited resources.  Makes a whole lot more sense than funding garriot or mcquaid.

The day is coming when gamers will be the fittest people on the planet. It began with DDR, the popularity of the Wii's physical interaction has taught it to the industry, and soon our kids will be growing up performing the actual moves we used to make happen with a joypad.
