My K/D ratio is pretty low for a few reasons- I play medic a lot, I rarely play anything but infantry (or a tank when I can find one- I have never flown), I like to spawn into hot CP battles instead of spawning in back and working my way up in safety, and last (but certainly not least)- I suck.

Way was the search right before me. I found that amusing. I suck and I know it.. seeing the .56 k/d ratio just reinforces this. However, I would just like to flex my huge "Team Work Stats" scores. (Well huge for only 1d 6h playtime. Damn you and your 1k score, Way.)

I suck at teamwork. I have a pretty good amount of base capture points, but I can't seem to get momentum going for support, repair, or medic points.
I want to start doing flying so I can take advantage of the balance issues to pad my stats.

Does anyone else think that site or the bf servers are overstating the number of teamklls? It says I have 44, that can't be right, I haven't gone on a killing spree in our barracks, yet. Nor have I ever commanded - allowing me to give all the squads orders to converge on one flag only to unleash artillery there, laughing maniacally all the while.
And I don't like that any person on the internet can look up my stats, though I think I'm doing fine for the first online FPS type game I have ever played.

You can rack-up TKs for a lot of stupid shit. Back up in a vehicle as someone runs to try and hop in? TK. Place mines to defend a flag/ outpost and some jackass in a tank rolls into it? TK. Crash as you and another pilot are gunning for the same jet because he swerved into you? TK. Do a little too much damage to a friendly as they bunny hop over you to try and spray the opfor guy you came across, gunning like mad for that extra kill point? TK. You don't have to just be a commander or a 'camp my forces' dickwad to rack up a lot of TKs quickly. (As shown by my 53 TK total.)

Only time I've ever killed my own forces intentionally was when one guy in my squad was a medic, he runs his jeep into mine, I get the TK score as he was in a smoking piece of junk. (Of course - he punishes) So now, I'm at 1/10th my life bar, I use the medic! button. He's 3 feet away, He does nothing. and keeps running away. I shoot him once. He turns around - I yell medic again. He runs away. I kill him.
He respawns, I yell medic. He does jack. I kill him again. I get booted. Damn - it felt good.

The latest of my 85 (!!!) teamkills came last night on the Kubra Dam map. I was taking sniper fire from somewhere far away (no gun sounds, just bullets whizzing by my head). I looked to my right, and saw a figure quartering away from me on top of the dam...had to be 300 meters at least. JUST as I snapped off a shot with my SVD (with plenty of lead, as he was sprinting), I realized that he wasn't wearing a US uniform...down he went, and I got a punished teamkill (which, this time, I deserved). Best shot I will ever make with a sniper rifle, and it was a TK.

Why do deaths display times youve died whilst using that weapon ? It would make more sense to know what kills you the most often. Quite easy to see the DAO/AT combo are my weapons of choice.

Rezzing with a total disregard for personal safety (aka suicide runs) mostly: Medic 0d 15h 41m 25s 319 492 0.65 Defibrillator 0d 0h 26m 50s 70% 0 26 0.00 (26 deaths with my paddles out) though that's actually not such a good thing in the grand scheme of things -- most likely your revived teammate is going to die (again) after the revive if you did so that's two tickets gone instead of just one. These days I try to make sure the area is clear before reviving.

So thats about 7% of my total 'damage' is TK.
I play commander, engineer, pilot planes and blow up things with specops a lot and more often than not I get kicked for TKing off the server within few hours of playing. Its just too easy to TK people by perfoming very important roles, like putting mines/c4s around flags, bombing key points with a plane or using artilery.

That'd be great! I'd have 4 of those.. 3 artys, and this one time I stupidly blew myself up with my own mine. (I hopped in the APC after the enemy guy hopped out andn took off after him, forgetting I'd dropped 3 mines before he drove up. I R Lame. )

They also need a "I killed myself with an AT missile cause the fricking viewfinder doesn't represent where the missile is fired from" category. I've lost count how many times I've killed myself firing an AT missile from an elevated prone position -- even if the zoomed in viewfinder shows that I've cleared the edge of the building or ledge (i.e. I don't see any edge or obstruction in my view at all not just in the middle targeting ring) I still kill myself.

That'd be great! I'd have 4 of those.. 3 artys, and this one time I stupidly blew myself up with my own mine. (I hopped in the APC after the enemy guy hopped out andn took off after him, forgetting I'd dropped 3 mines before he drove up. I R Lame. ) You didn't seem so lame when you killed me twice yesterday, ya rat! I never saw you at all the whole time, so I couldn't return the favor :-D

The first one I didn't know, honestly. I had grabbed the jet because it was sitting on the runway for my last 3 deaths (unheard of!) and since I have the JS hooked-up I gave it a shot. Damn that thing's fast. Hitting you on that bombing run was pure luck.
The second time,however, I had just left the base you were capping. I heard 'we've lost control of an outpost' and ran up to find you standing, staring straight off to the other side near the flag. Two shotgun blasts to the head was just too sweet a deal to pass up. Thinking back I should have made you my first knife kill. :-D

Two corollaries to the "Vote for Strike at Karkand" item: When you are MEC always try and Zerg rush the USMC base even though their CPs can not be captured, they have a serious height advantage and they have easier access to armor. Also, ignore any attempts by the USMC to sneak around to capture your back CPs -- the Zerg rush can only succeed if you mass together as close as possible. When you are USMC always Zerg rush the closest MEC CP even though the MEC have terrain and spawn point advantages. Never try and circle around and capture any of their back CPs even though your ticket count is ticking down constantly from the lack of captured CPs. Last night was incredibly frustrating playing on that map and having both things constantly happen (depending on which side I was on).

I remember commanding a round in the beta...the entire usmc team was at the westernmost shore CP, the entire mec team was at the middle shore CP. I was commanding the usmc. I gave orders, dropped UAVs to show NO ENEMIES at any other CP, exhorted and cajoled, but no matter what I did, I couldn't stop people from simply zerging to their quick deaths, heading straight east into the teeth of enemy fire.
Rather than do the whole 'try to find a decent server' dance, I played some GTASA. That's a pretty typical BF2 experience for me, the game is pretty much shit thanks to the rampant tardery. I simply don't put up with it when I'm trying to relax after a day of dealing with the public. Too bad, imo, because I love the game, and maybe more importantly, so does my girlfriend...but at least she understands why I don't play it much.

Just do like I do, Sky. Just play to kill people and ignore the deaths, losses, etc until you're in a good mood. Sure, I get frustrated and switch teams sometimes, but it's stopped my 'server dancing' almost entirely. I don't care about losing so long as I can come up behind someone trying to cap a flag and blow their brains out. (Hi again, Way!) :-D It's not like I'm going to join a clan or do any of the other buillshit where stats matter. I think the stats are proving to be one of the biggest detriments to FUN in the game, because you start worrying about them instead of just enjoying yourself. Don't try to catass the FPS ladder!

Oh, I don't really care too much about the stats. You can't really, given the nature of the game and how many unavoidable deaths you experience (ranging from being spawncamped to idiots reviving you in the middle of a firefight).
I just don't deal well with the tard behaviour in general, I have no desire to play games with people who act like morons. It upsets me, and I don't play games to get upset.
Besides, my stats aren't bad, even including the aforementioned unavoidable deaths. It's more the shit in that (pretty damned funny in a sad way) article linked above, and Trippy's little story about people not playing to play the game, but just fuck off for their own enjoyment. I simply won't put up with that juvenile shit when I'm trying to relax and play a game.
I guess I'm old?

I think Strike at Karkand is just used by people to get their badges and medic points. I really don't like that map, nothing but waves of suicide attackers trying to get their knife or pistol badge followed by waves of medics who revive them for points only to instantly die again. Once I accidentally got stuck on a server that does nothing but Karkand, I didn't figure that out until the fourth game.
I guess I'm very much in the minority though as there is always a vote to change to Strike at Karkand (which thankfully fails because so many people use the "opt out of vote" option) on every other map I have played on. People like it because there is more infantry and less vehicles. This is my first online FPS so maybe I'm missing something but if that is what you prefer why wouldn't you be playing Counter Strike or Unreal Tournament?

The "min/maxer" powerleveler crowd have settled on Strike at Karkand as the best way to earn a lot of points (short of blackhawk whoring).
Personally , I really do like Karkand. I even played some on the server that crams 64 players on the 16 sized map. Fun times.

I've played on that server before - talk about crazy - then you get some squad that caps all the bases at the same time. And the game ends.

I was playing on the Karkand only server last night (they took it down to switch it to 'urban maps', so it will have a bit of variety. I was USMC, and we were getting our asses handed to us. I finally took a turn at command, and begged, pleaded, cajoled, and otherwise attempted to persuade my side to ignore the first CP and cap the back flags (particularly the one with the MEC arty and satellite assets. Eventually, some people started to listen, and we won 4/5 games.
I prefer the city maps- I enjoy the infantry aspect of it. I fucking HATE the Gulf of Oman map- if you aren't a pilot, prepare to die 20 times.
